@@mjnonchalant Agree to disagree. The censorship done on a channel like ABC or NBC is faaaaaaaaaaar stricter than what is done on a cable channel like FX. Even on the podcast the Sunny crew talks about how they can't get away with everything, but they get away with a lot more because of the channel they're on than they would at NBC/CBS/ABC.

i’m almost certain he’s watched the show already and it pisses me off that he keeps spoiling it seconds before the joke is told. he’s trying to act as if he’s just so clever that he’s guessing the punchlines before they land. even if it were the case that he’s never seen the show and is somehow guessing ever beat of the show, it’s still annoying that he has to interject himself before every funny joke is told to be the smart guy

Those loyalty cards are distributed for marketing reasons. With the card, they gather statistics about what a (for example) a 30 year-old male, living on their street, purchases, how much and how frequently. The cards are for gathering the metadata. At face value, it can help them carry relevant inventory on shelves. However, I found that some retailers care more about capturing the data than providing the discounts. I was at a Kroger that routinely would not begin scanning my groceries before scanning the groceries. I had two belt-fulls of groceries and I need to empty the cart onto the belt before advancing to pay and then bag/cart the purchased groceries. My position was that I’ll swipe the coupon card at the time of transaction. I was told the system doesn’t work that way and the savings will only apply if the card is swiped first. Since then I haven’t belonged to a discount club or whatever they call it.

What I love about Always Sunny is that the character who plays the straight man will change within a blink of an eye. Like Dennis suggested the idea of a self sustaining economy and trying to break it down to Mac, couple of scenes later, the roles completely switch, and this is a very consistent thing in the show.

They could have put up a sign for the purchase of any beer, 3 dollars or more you receive Paddy’s Dollar good for one free beer of the same price or lower. Then make the Paddy’s dollars different colors based on the price of the beer and distribute a few them during Happy Hour. Put an expiration date a week from the initial purchase ensuring the customer has a limited time to return to take up the offer. Between word of mouth and local advertising they probably could make a profit that way.

The way Paddy’s Dollars should’ve worked was making patrons buy Paddy’s dollars to pay with for booze. Whatever remaining Paddy’s Dollars they had left at the night would make them come back to use up the rest, and most likely drink more, requiring more Paddy’s dollars. It’s always about having money left over in the store currency and not wanting to lose it.

Store credit cards are *never* worth the discounts or "loyalty bucks" because their interest rates are insane compared to a normal visa or the like. The rewards are terrible rates you will never redeem or realize "I have 50 bucks store credit after 4,000 dollars? What the hell......" and the % off offers have so much fine print it's just the same..

They should have sold the Paddys dollars for a good price as long as people buy a lot of it. Win for Paddys since customers commit to only drink there for a while and not take their business somewhere else, win for customers because they get cheap beers which would be the incentive. But you can't give it away for free :)
