Well as you know I'm usually late to the party in getting wagons, and these were no exception. What I was trying to do in to try and place it somewhere nicely in my train plan, and low and behold in managed to fit it in.
The idea was to get a 30 wagon rake, yes that's right 30 wagons. I'm up to 23 but a managed to find 5 Cavalex TEA tankers for sale when me and my bro were exhibiting his layout 'Geeksville' at Stamford Model Train Exhibition.
As the temptation was to strong and thinking this is an opportunity not to be missed I brought them.
Going back the Revolution Trains TEA Tankers, well they are amazing and dripping in beautiful details from they details bogies to all warning signs being legible. I brought some from Train 4U, Coastal DDC, Kernows models (only one) and six from a great friend who 'brought too many' X6 EWS.
I think it's easier to list the colours that I don't have, Freightliner and I think the only other one is the light green.
I paid all shop prices for these £48 something and thankfully my friend had 6 EWS tankers and he gave me first dibs......I can't turn something like that down, specially when some Revolution Train EWS tankers are going for around the £325 for 4......I think not....not unless I needed to finish the train off.
For this little running session I owe massive thanks to my bro for allowing me to use his incredible Hattons Cemex GBRf Class 66.
Enjoy

Hi there thanks for the fair and balanced review. You're right that the versions we offer operate alongside the Cavalex variants on the LIndsey-Kingsbury flows, and they worked with the older 1960s-built versions modelled by Bachmann on the Grangemouth-Dalston trains while the new wagons were being introduced. Also, if anyone is missing any small parts like buffers etc please contact our customer support manager using the email address in the instructions and we will help.

Hello Martin, I have 8 EWS and 9 of the dark blue VTG with various writing on sides e.g. Railfreight delivers....with less etc etc etc, and they are superb models. Unfortunately I tried to see how well they would bounce off my floor, from about 3' (not really I dropped it) damage was as it fell on end was ladders which I fixed but two end buffers snapped. I contacted Revolution Trains and they supplied me two new buffers, I think i paid £5. So worth trying to them unless you find the missing buffer. Smashing (no pun intended) video as always. Bill.

Hi ya. Wow, I bet that looks amazing to see going round. Oh no that wasn't fun, the thing is accidents happen. Thankyou for the info, I did as I was packing the models away I saw the buffer actually jn the box, only thing is that it happened to two of them. Oh well. "Smashing"🤣🤣lol. Thankyou so much Bill. All the best. 👍

3Y is the Haz chem code for flammable liquids. 1202 is diesel, 1203 is petrol. The earth point is where earth staps are clamped, Petrol will actually generate static build up in pipes when its pumped, not something you want with petrol. The earthing will stop any spark jumping across when the pipe is disconnected from the wagon.

Excellent impressive rake you’ve got running there Martin even with just the 19 in tow, I’ve got a few of the revolution tea’s from the first run and a pot of bits that have dropped off 🤣🤭

Hello Martin, as you are aware the axles sit in bearing cups in the bogies, which is why they run so freely. If the axles become dislodged in their bogies, the bearing cups can pop out and are easily lost so great care is needed! They are really awkward to put back in too, so tiny. On arrival when I bought mine (BTW, not brought as you like to say! (bought as in buy, brought as in bring)) I had a number of wheel set axles popped out and the bearing cups were just loose in the boxes! Luckily I noticed. This is something to watch out for as the axles won't fit back properly in the bogies without them and I've no idea how easy it would be to find replacements. I actually have a video on my YT channel from a few months ago showing a rake of these; 20 grey VTG TEAs running on the layout, which maybe you've already seen, but if not then perhaps it might interest you. Regards Julian

Wow, yes I have seen your videos, and it's help from you and your videos in why I wanted to run full length trains. Your JHAs, HHA Freightliner coal wagon and the amazing PTAs from Accurascale, love it. So thankyou. Great work and great videos by the way.👍 It's a lovely finish to an amazing model to have the wheel bearings, and a pleasant surprise as most manufacturer don't use them, guessing down to cost. I did buy some aftermarket bogies for a Lima PTA project (but then 'bought' the PTA wagons from Accurascale so I thought why bother) The aftermarket bogies I had to squeeze in the wheel bearings with suppliers. 🤣🤣🤣🤣my bad English. Lol. I'll try to remember that for the next video, cheers for the correction. (Just had to check the word 'brought' 🤣)👍👍 It makes me wonder how they come out if the wheels are already holding them in the bogies. Well done for spotting them and cheers for the advice, eyes open when I put them on the track again👍. Are they a commonly used wheel bearings? 🤷‍♂️. Ya I have seen it, another great video. Keep up the great work. Great inspiration. 👍

@@mrmartinb1615 Hello Martin and thanks for taking the time to reply and your kind words. I feel somewhat responsible now for costing you all that money on the long rakes! It is quite an experience though seeing the full length trains trundle past, and they are such great models too! I've not had any of the Revolution TEAs lose their bearing cap out on the layout so far, just during postage when they were sent to me. Just be wary though if you do remove an axle, e.g. to set the back to backs etc, they will undoubtedly fall out then! Anyway, I'll let you get on and enjoy your trains. Thanks for your channel and regular videos, very enjoyable and appreciated. I must try and sort out filming a new episode for my channel soon too! Cheers for now Martin, regards Julian

@@theeventhorizon-valebridge9512 🤣🤣...Thats what you get when you do great videos with them in..lol. but, and it is a big BUT, regaurding the expense. I'm 'lucky' enough to have got a lot of my wagons 'back in the day' when things were somewhat cheaper than they are now, 15 or so years ago e.g. the Dapol MRA wagons, pack of five with generator wagon for something like £75 from the Dapol stand at Alexandra Palace due to being 'slightly faulty' (wrong decals etc) I'm definitely not complaining now, lol. (Featuring soon with another Accurascale 66 unboxing along with (requested by a subsriber) JJA auto ballasters. Also the Bachman BYA steel wagon, bet you can't pick them up a new for £15/20 anymore lol. I definitely don't feel bad now for spending what is now very little money back then. The trouble is who knows how the parcel gets treated when being transported. Cheers for the heads up with the bearings👍. I try to get back to comments as soon as possible but having a time job as well....lol. Your more than welcome Julian, look forward to seeing the next full length train videos. 🤣...👍

I have a rake (8) of Bachmann's but got just one Revolution trains TEA which we are all agreed is by far the best. My idea of a train is about half to a third of MrMartinB more realistic ideas. If you want modern realistic trains then the brothers layout is very suitable. After decades with the same layout mine is too cluttered. PS Have you got a link to your brothers youtube channel I fancy the comparative Class 66 review. I tried MrMartinA but its not that!

Nice, ya most definitely, I do like a rake of the old one though, usually behind a class 37 or something. Yes, a link at the bottom of the description and you'll find my bros channel there. My bro has actually had to send his class 66 back has it had a couple of bits broken off it and it was making "ticking" noise when it was running 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. So the review won't be just yet. 🤣🤣🤣🤣..MrMartinA, I like it. 👍👍

Hi Martin, great review of your new items, eBay can be very hit and miss in my opinion, great bargains and some criminally high prices that are laughable, If you’re prepared to wait some retailers like Model Railways Direct in Bristol have amazing deals at times, work within your budget unless you want an item so badly price doesn’t come into it, could you do a running shot of your brothers JJA auto ballaster wagons at some stage as I’m a big fan of them, they are seriously expensive both secondhand and new, thanks for sharing.

Thankyou so much..👍👍...ya you know, its crazy what people charge, but hey if someone is willing to pay that. Lol.. Thankyou for the info on the model shop, I'll have a little Peak at it. 👍. Ya that is exceptionally good advice which I think most don't want to know. Have a budget and have a train plan. That is Absolutely fine with the JJA Auto ballasters 👍..I ll have a little treat for you involving an Umboxing of another Accurascale Class 66 with some other ballet wagons..it be next month as I'm on holiday soon. 👍👍👍👍👍 My brother brought some from Royston train exhibition and couple of months ago to finish/add to his little rake, each about £70..££££. Now that's one train I would like but not paying that...........let hope Accurascale take up the project. 👍 Your more than welcome. 👍👍

@@mrmartinb1615 Hi, I hope you have a great holiday, I went to a model railway exhibition in Milton Keynes yesterday, there were some cool items there, I picked up a Hornby Pullman observation car in good condition and a JNA Network rail wagon, there was a trader who was selling 3 x JJA wagon for £69 - £72 in ok condition, Bachmann have them in the. Collectors club range because they’ve 550 of them then that it, they are rare but way too expensive, maybe another manufacturer will take them on, not sure it will happen and the prices will stay high sadly.

Wow, what a rake, bet that looks amazing, what do you have pulling them? The only issue is that the attic that is is in is a multi purpose room, bed, office place...I would love to have a roundy roundy, but just be a little impractical. I planing my portable layout 30+ feet by 10 so I can run full length trains. Thankyou Al 👍
