CNN political commentators Van Jones and Scott Jennings weigh in on the Supreme Court's ruling that Donald Trump may claim immunity from criminal prosecution for some of the actions he took in the waning days of his presidency in a decision that will likely further delay a trial on the federal election subversion charges pending against him. #CNN #News

Joe Biden committed multiple felonies by having classified docs but Robert Hur said he didn't recommend an indictment because Biden is old and forgetful and too old for a trial. Huh? But he can be in the White House? And the Biden admin just admitted in federal court to altering the transcripts to make Biden look less incompetent. And now they won't release the tapes so they are hiding something very damaging about Biden. Go Trump and FJB and his banana republic regime.

You know what, Scott, I think I'll take a pass on your reassurances that Congress can always step in and throw out a criminal president. What we have witnessed with our own eyes is that Congress becomes part of the problem, and constantly finds ways to ignore, marginalize, dismiss, participate in, and/or otherwise capitulate to outrageous behavior on the part of the POTUS.

You say most people don't have a clue. I don't like the idea of the president having such broad immunity. But the only ones complaining are democrats. And Trump has not in any way tried to use such immunity - yet. But a past president has, and in the most lethal way... he claimed the right to kill any American citizen who he thought was a threat to the country. Without review. With total immunity. Who was that president? *DO YOU HAVE A CLUE?* Date Nov. 8,2010: WASHINGTON - The Obama administration today argued before a federal court that it should have unreviewable authority to kill Americans the executive branch has unilaterally determined to pose a threat. Government lawyers made that claim in response to a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) charging that the administration’s asserted targeted killing authority violates the Constitution and international law. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia heard arguments from both sides today. “Not only does the administration claim to have sweeping power to target and kill U.S. citizens anywhere in the world, but it makes the extraordinary claim that the court has no role in reviewing that power or the legal standards that apply,” said CCR Staff Attorney Pardiss Kebriaei, who presented arguments in the case. WHERE WAS THE OUTRAGE THEN?

@@loladaise6432 The founders, after fighting a king, did want to avoid having (another) king, above all other aims. Restraining the government includes restraining the president, does it not? Is it OK to have a renegade president who goes overboard with a revenge tour against (perceived) enemies? What president is promising such a tour? There is no reliable way to say which branch is the strongest, but surely a lifetime appointment is at least supposed to convey some independence which is more important for those who hold the final review of a president's actions.

@forfun6273
@forfun6273 3 ай бұрын
If the president commits a crime that isn’t in his official capacity then they can still impeach him. They can pretty much impeach him for anything if they have the votes. Police officers have qualified immunity. It’s their duty to enforce the law. The president is the head of the executive branch which’s duty is to enforce the law. So why tf would a random police officer have immunity but not the president? The president dictates policy to the atf, fbi, cia,NSA, and all the other agencies. If he orders one of those agencies to do something thinking it’s going to save American lives but he ends up being wrong then he shouldn’t go to jail. If he had the potential to go to jail then you would compromise the ability of the federal government to enforce the law and protect Americans. Obviously there’s a line that can be crossed between acting in an official capacity and being a tyrant or abusing your power. In that case house impeaches senate finds guilty and removes. Once that happens then he’s fair game for criminal prosecution by the appropriate courts.

The question is: how do you draw the line between official acts and personal acts?
@Keimzelle
@Keimzelle 3 ай бұрын
It's quite simple: Anything that requires the powers of the office is an official act. If you could do something as a non-officeholder, it's a private act. E.g. you can hold a speech and tell people to invade the Capitol. You don't need to hold an office to do that. But it's clear that you can do worse things with official acts, than with personal ones.

Then send the prosecutor back to the lower courts to prove their case against Trump just like any other defendant. Case closed. The 6 judges are bought and paid for. Amy Barrett trying to sneak in her weak comment after going along with this craziness is absurd. The other 3 judges are right. We don't change or waiver on the principles of the foundation of the constitution to protect DT. When u read their dissects that's the take home message. The majority 6 did not make the right decision. I am convinced that they are political operatives. I hope Biden or whomever runs against Trump echo this until November. Trump is the only president in history that ran to the SC for cover. If u are innocent why beg others to protect u.

Then they act on their crazy brain thoughts. It’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s very real. Also, the power and money has become too big for mortals. Every one of them in government and media are clawing and lying. Now they think they can make us believe anything. - Take the jab. Joe Biden is fine. Trump caused an insurrection. We must drive electric vehicles. Inflation is getting better. You don’t see that. You didn’t hear that. You don’t know differently. If you ask questions you’re ________ (racist, sexist, communist, perverse, stupid, etc.) Now we’ve figured some things out. And MORE stuff is coming out every day.
