Always been a fan of Karun since day 1 and never understood some of the disrespectful comments he seems to get. I think his analysis, expertise and passion are truly great and he's one of my favourite pundits Sky have ever had. Hope he can stick around for many more years to come.
@unthenner55193 ай бұрын
The comments are because he has a needless stubbornness streak in him sometimes where he'll stick with a wrong point for the sake of it. It's a bit perplexing because otherwise he's very rational! He just gets a bit fragile when challenged.

What a brilliant episode, I enjoyed every second of that 👏. How hard Karun has worked and his continued work ethic is immensely impressive. I had no idea he didn't have a karting background; that makes what he achieved to be a competitive racer in several disciplines and reaching F1 even more remarkable. Loved the races sent over on VHS part of the story as well! Karun and Ant are my favourite pundits, never let these treasures go SkyF1! 🙌

Karun's story is every kid's story. If you don't have anybody around you who knows how to get into a specific career, or has the connections to people in that industry, it makes it very hard to break into that field. It isn't the simple "oh it must be racism" or other simplistic answers. Don't make up excuses, fight for your kids. Help them find their path. What a great story! Thanks Karun. Respect.

Karun's comments about politicians in F1 were very helpful to me. I would love for him to give an honest answer to the question: 'is it fixed' by those politicians? There is nothing wrong if it is: "grappling" fans enjoyed wrestling for many years knowing it was. We watched it every Saturday afternoons for many years. Now my wife has said for many years 'is it Schumi, is it Hamilton, is it Vettel or is it Verstappen this time? (So nice to say once in a blue moon "No its Sainz"!) Having assumed it is fixed for a while now Karun with his facts and figures still makes it fascinating for every race. I just wish commentators were not so non critical of boring races (Martin sometimes admits it but he is so senior he can but he doesn't emphasise it much.) They get shouty about how interesting it was then call on Karun to restore some real interest. But there is a struggle when he is not there. We need one of the women or someone to give an alternative when Karun is not there. We are getting to the stage where Sky F1 should announce when regulars are not there so we can make a choice. Something like "Well we were all pretty underwhelmed by that!" Just be honest.

After watching this episode of the podcast, my love and admiration for Karun has grown exponentially. I’ve always liked the guy, his honesty and knowledge when speaking is clear for all to see and hear. We Europeans really cannot grasp how hard it must have been for him and his family getting him to this place he is in now. It was difficult for Anthony Hamilton working 3 or 4 jobs so Lewis could reach F1. Karun had no Karting experience, moved to an alien environment at such a young age. Let alone arranging the financial packages just to be able to drive. I have the utmost respect for Karun. Great episode guys.

Great to learn more about Karun, shame about the interviewer’s atrocious listening skills….i always questioned Karuns decision to join the HRT, it seems doomed to fail before it begun! It was like strapping oneself to a live grenade. But this gives more clarity. I also never quite understood the Lotus situation, I believe he turned down a reverse driver role with Virgin Marussia or it was Williams.

I didn’t rate Karyn as a driver at all, his niche is in his broadcast business and his analysis and strategic thinking and his ability to make decisions on his life and the future, he has got them right now at Sky Sports F1, he’s good, not great like Martin and Ant, but he’s good enough to do the same thing for the same reasons and the same qualities that are questioned. He’s reliable enough and capable enough so just keep him handy,

And yet, if you were to ask anyone who's opinion actually matters, they will tell you what a highly respected racing driver he is. It's incredibly difficult to show your worth when people judge you based on a handful of F1 races in a car that was 3 or 4 secs per lap slower than anything else.
