What a game ❤️ This has been such an incredible journey. I’m so glad I got to experience this story with you guys - thank you thank you for all the support. I’ve had the best time exploring regions, playing mini games, and growing with these characters. I did spend about 4 hours fighting the last boss here… LOL Rebirth was no joke in the boss fight department, but we made it! Congrats on finishing this masterpiece! It's nice to see the church scene can make new players cry too, even if you don't understand it's a goodbye, you can feel it. I've watched many, many players, oldschool 97, completely new to FF and everything in between, even people who played it all in 2024. And it's clear how much better it can be for those who played everything before. It's of course a fantastic game for newcomers, but I dare say it's 70% of what you can feel playing the new trilogy with all the knowledge before. So I hope you plan to do that someday! Before you replay it for part III, or at least after part III one day. It's one of those games that gets better every time you rewatch/replay. I used to max out on my ff games. No longer play anymore and I just become a single dad recently. I watched the walkthrough last week... And i became depressed for 2 days after the ending. When Aerith says "Its been fun" and the part where she reassures cloud in his arms really got to me... I could not sleep that night and woke up with suffocating hearache as if i just lost my heart. 😂 Never knew what i thought was a casual rest and watch some games could knock me this hard. It was really something if you experience real lost...

Some people will say Aerith is 100% dead, but it's not clear at all. Even devs said "well it's unclear". We won't know for sure until part 3. Saying something is 100% right is kinda useless at this point. My theory is there is a separate branch of the storyline where Cloud was able to save her. But since Sephiroth was merging worlds, it's all got mixed up.

It was explained that the lifestream is made out of memories and consciousness kind of like a purgatory state where things that die maintains a state of consciousness till they are diffused to be reused by the planet. So what we are seeing when Cloud retrieve the white materia from Aerith is not in fact happening in the physical world, but rather Aerith's dreams in which her memories are hidden away. These memories tapped into the lifestream through the materia that store them, in Aerith case it was holy and that it contained part of Aerith memories that was lost when she on her own doing or something like the whispers took it away, which is why Aerith's materia became empty, the same with the Zack appearances, he never appeared with Cloud in the physical world but on the edge of creation where Sephiroth and Cloud had a duel at the end of Remake part 1, so it is probably some sequence within the corrupted lifestream that occured, as Sephiroth likely wants to create a stagnant reality by corrupting the lifestream itself, stopping it's normal flow. The third part of the game will heavily lean on the lifestream mechanic, and how Sephiroth while actually dead can seemingly appear in the physical world through Jenova cells and the whispers.

And we will see the real sequence of event that happened when Cloud regains his memories and went back to the Forgotten Capital for the second time attempting to retrieve the White materia that had dropped into the lifestream, it was there where the sequence of Aerith's death was played as in the OG upon revisiting the Forgotten Capital a second time but only in a brief moment, in part 3 we will likely see the real scene play out not what is reflected in Cloud's muddied head at this moment in rebirth.

They say it’s unclear because it’s written from the perspective of Cloud. And we know he’s an unreliable narrator. It is very clear that in the world we play in, she is 100% dead. Or else she wouldn’t have a dead body that they buried and Tifa wouldn’t be crying.

"Dream" date Aerith knowing her time was short and choosing to spend some of her last moments happy with Cloud before giving him the white materia is some of the most beautiful and saddest story telling I've ever seen. Seeing Cloud interact with ghost/lifestream/whatever in part 3 is going to be so heartbreaking because he doesn't realize she's not actually there. The wait for part 3 is going to be agony.

This is one of those games that is pretty rewarding to replay. It's shock full of hints and info that you easily forget because of its huge length. I'm not saying they're spelling out what's going on, but they give you a lot of hints. We're not supposed to understand everything yet of course, but I had multiple 'aha' moments during NG+. Some people are acting like the original was straightforward, but it took years before everyone was even close to agreeing on all the plot points. And they still can't agree on a 'canon' love interest for Cloud haha

Close ending a game like FF7 is a disservice imo. There's expanding on a mystery, and yet there's also taking sides on questions that are meant to leave the door open for revisits. Canon pairings are attempts by people to make the characters fall into realistic categories when the entire premise of the game is fantastical. So it's stupid... Clerith seemed more realistic to me simply because of how much they've enjoyed their time together, how brief and meaningful it was that it couldn't just conclude without proper closure, which Advent Children failed to deliver. You ask a Cloti if Cloud feels anything for Aerith and they usually begin their argument with Cloud and Tifa's backstory without addressing the plot points that actually landed Cloud and Aerith together and the undeniable emotional bond they have developed that accompanies Cloud even after Aerith's death...to the point that whatever guilty feelings Cloud's been carrying with him, Tifa couldn't approach or help heal.

The ending is supposed to be confusing, and we truly don't know what is going on, or what part 3 has in store. Speculation is running wild, so I don't take what anyone says about it seriously, except for the few small things the developers themselves have said regarding the ending. Also something that makes this love story so interesting to me is you're not exactly sure who's gonna be with who, who likes who back, ect. In Remake Cloud&Aerith was pretty obvious. In Rebirth Cloud&Aerith in the beginning. Then you're like "Zack? Tifa?" in the middle. Then at the very end it's clear Cloud and Aerith again. It's different from a typical romance story.

I just got the Platinum after three months of playing. It's been a long time since I had this fun with a game. I'm glad you enjoyed it as well! While I don't agree with every change or addition they did, I think that overall this is an amazing product of love, with so many fantastic additions and changes. I've loved these characters since the 90s but basically every single one of them are so much better and fleshed out in Remake/Rebirth., that it will feel weird replaying the original! Then again, it's only about 30 hours long haha. I think S-E is the only company in the world crazy enough to turn that into 3 full-length modern games with this kind of production value. I hope that kind of craziness will pay off in the long run even if the game's not selling all that well currently.

It’s hard without spoiling but for me up to rebirth, Aerith dies and Cloud is still having a mental breakdown and is seeing things/Aerith. Great job getting through that final fight. It's a rough one, no doubt. So I think part of the confusion here stems from Square breaking a single game into 3 parts. This game has a lot of the issues that the middle part of a trilogy tends to have. It has to resolve its story but also not really truly resolve the story if that makes sense. As for when part 3 comes out, my guess is 3 years. 2027 will be the 30th anniversary of the OG FF7 so that could be a big deal. There was a 4 year gap between Remake and Rebirth but remember that COVID was a part of that time frame. Regardless, see you on the next one.

First off, enjoyed your reactions through both these games Syddy. About the ending, I have a lot of mixed feelings with this adaption. Especially for new players I think its pretty confusing. The OG was much more clear - and brutal - about what happened, but obviously they are trying to set up the possibly of things changing, even beyond the critical moment the game ended with here. Now we have long a wait to see it how it all resolves!

Shrodinger's Aerith is confusing. In one reality she is definitely dead... like the original game. But as this series has already explored branching alternate timelines, she is definitely alive in another.

I get it as to why some people got confused. But it really just simple, aerith died in the main timeline. The glitching part was cloud seeing two different timelines, because of sephiroth’s blessing, because of that he was getting more confused, and thought aerith is still alive in their reality. In short, cloud is really messed up mentally and physically. They’ll show more of this in next part.

Yeah. Also, people have to remember that this is the middle part of a trilogy. The middle is always packed with information and unanswered questions so that the third part can wrap everything up. It really wouldn’t be fair to judge the ending until part 3 comes out. :D

Cloud received Holy w/ future memories after telling Aerith he wanted to make future memories with her. In the Sleeping Forest, Cloud returned Holy w/ future memories to Aerith and she returned to him an empty Holy. By the Tiny Bronco scene, we can see that Cloud's Hollow M, or Holy is no longer empty is it. So what happened? It's because his Holy activated at the moment he deflected Sephiroth's blade as now "Saving Aerith" is what Cloud what just did, and it doesn't matter that Sephiroth converged both worlds, because it was now in Cloud's memory, the breach of fate still happens and just like the end of FF7 Remake splitting into two worlds, so too FF7 Rebirth split into two worlds. We know Aerith gets tired when she prays and casts her magic like from the Temple of the Ancients. Aerith who was saved rested and with her Holy joined Cloud at the fight at the Edge of Creation. "Ready? Everybody's waiting." after the fight they both fade out to white. In the world she died, Aerith is on her side and the party runs over. Cloud is walking over and our perspective changes to the world where Aerith was saved and she is laying on her back and the main party is nowhere to be seen. Cloud tells her to wake up and Aerith wakes up. The lake and the Tiny Bronco scene are from a different world in which Aerith did die. Her Holy w/ future memories at the bottom of the lake, and she will pray her hardest to stop the Meteor. So ultimately, we have Cloud with his Holy no longer empty, LS Aerith (who died, will play for Holy to stop the Meteor, Aerith who was saved, and Cloud who saved her now looking back our Cloud through the reflection in Holy and there's a lone tree motif we know is associated with Aerith. Very interesting. Now ask yourself which Cloud is our Cloud? Other note: Cloud received the real. Black Materia when he charged Sephy in between worlds right before the Sleeping Forest. "Ready? Everybody's waiting." "This isn't about me though. It's about saving the world, and you."

If you don't plan on playing the original FF7, consider watching "Aerith scene" from FF7 OG on KZbin. It's worth seeing how different the scenes are. Although this ending was very colorful, I found it extremely depressing. It's an ending that causes discomfort. And it is clear that the intention of this ending is to leave more questions and answer absolutely nothing. For those who like to theorize, it is a very confusing ending. There is a detail in the fight against Jenova that you may not have noticed. Notice how everyone enters the fight with a full limit... except Cloud. Everyone is mourning Aerith. Cloud, because his head is so fucked up, still thinks she's alive and that's why he's the only one with an empty limit. I bet that when Cloud realizes what happened he breaks down for good in the 3rd and final part.

Here's what we actually 100% know. 1. Everyone but Cloud saw Aerith dead and truly believe her to be dead. 2. The Aerith that speaks to Cloud at the ending curscene is an entity that only Cloud can hear/see. Red, being closely tied to the planet, can slightly sense her when her "spirit" touches him, but it's obviously very faint and not concrete enough for him to believe it to be anything substantial. 3. Cloud's mind is extremely ... clouded. (Hee hee) He is an unreliable narrator throughout the entire story, at best. What he sees is something that needs to be taken with a HUGE grain of salt. 4. In the original, Cloud was in the same boat with everyone when it came to Aerith's death. That being different going into the next game is a huge departure and opens up to a lot of possible changes from the OG in part 3. 5. Cloud is hiding the black materia from everyone. Pretty much everything else is conjecture.

Do the people who played OG know what's "supposed" to happen? Yeah. Do we know what's ACTUALLY going to happen? Not a damn clue. So if you do decide to explore some of the theories, take everything with a grain of salt, and beware of major spoilers. What a great playthrough Squiddy. I've followed you since you started Remake and I'm glad to see you've enjoyed the games as much as you have. And don't sweat the last Sephiroth fight. I've seen other streamers and KZbinrs be brought to the verge of tears and anger with that fight. It's truly one of the hardest fights I've delt with an any game that wasn't made by Fromsoft (Elden Ring, the Souls series). So, you did good. Can't wait to see what's next.

Without context (due to spoilers) I wish part 3 stays true to the original. Something about it is really impactful but might not be as much if they sugar coat it on the remake. All the VA did an amazing job though so I can’t see any of them not make it to part 3.

If you ever get a chance, play the original FF7. I think a lot of your questions will get answered and yet may raise more questions. It's a lil outdated, but so worth it! Plus there's a movie FF7 Advent Children that part 3 will supposedly tie into. As for FFX, I highly recommend that one too!!

can someone correct me im thinking that the Aerith who give cloud the white materia is a different aerith from our aerith we lost the white materia so the other aerith in different time line (life stream been suck dry) gave cloud her white materia and i think that all aerith shares memories from each other... they show us that there was a timeline that she been saved but in the end they stick to the orignal story no promises indeed well played...

The fact that you are confused is the reason why many people disliked how they handled the most pivotal moment of this game from the original. In the OG, there was a definitive conclusion and you know what happened. Won’t spoil it so either play the OG to find the answer or hold off for part 3 because anything can happen in the remakes.

Very short explanation about the ending with no spoil for Part 3 (my opinion, I might be wrong): Aerith has indeed been killed by Sephiroth, but Cloud is slowly losing his mind and is in complete denial, that’s why we only see her through his own eyes. They tried to convey that but many players got confused including yourself. His journey through madness has escalated throughout the game, especially with the last chapters. Regarding what happened to Aerith, remember what Sephiroth said to Cloud when he was holding her: “You will never see the truth with such clouded eyes” Can’t wait for Part 3, there are still many twists and I’m excited for you to discover them through the next game!

@@Skywalkera836 that’s not a spoiler though? That’s literally in the game. Chapter 9 with Tifa, Chapter 13 with the TURKS, later with Sephiroth and the black materia. And there are more examples of his crazy behaviour.

The spoilers are from the person above indicating what -might- come in Part 3. I would not theorize about what’s to come on her channel. She needs to discover it for herself.
