I just got out of the hospital after an utterly miserable 3 days with too many things going wrong and feeling so sick. But as I listened to doctors talking to patients in other rooms--a woman who had to be referred to behavioral services and sent to a psych ward because she wasn't able to reason, a man whose heart rhythm the night before had been so erratic it almost killed him--I was reminded that my issues were limiting and uncomfortable, but not the worst thing anybody has ever suffered in a hospital. Your post is very timely for this (recovering and thankful) granny in Arkansas.

So true. Thank you for sharing. I have not been in a hospital for a stay for 30 plus years now. I go visit others, and occasionally have outpatient things done, but have not actually stayed in many, many years.

I am single and older, too. I totally know how you feel but I only have a few neighbors that I can call on and I do it sparingly. I don't know what else to do and I do as much as I can in a day and then sit. Then, I think I wasted a day, but I cannot push too hard or else I get into trouble too. For one thing, the heat index is in the 100-109 degree range here in Florida and I have to limit my physical exertion because of that. My vehicle doesn't work and yesterday I was just so antsy to get out and go somewhere. Well, I am grateful for my home and my air. I just have to wait on the Lord and be thankful. This is temporary, soon we shall see Him and be like Him. Won't that be AMAZING?

As a single without family around, or friends/neighbor/aquaintances you feel you can call on, you, and all in this position, need a Handyman, and AAA for car breakdowns, and a church pastor or people you know there.

Hi to all. I am 63 years old and live alone. On July 3rd I got up to get ready for work. I slipped in the hallway and came down hard on my "tush". I knew right away that it was not good. The pain cannot be explained. Long story short, I fractured my back. I am extremely independent and social so being at home as been challenging. I thank God for my friends who have helped take care of my three dogs, bringing meals, groceries and taking me to medical appointments etc. The fall was caused by my elderly dog Italy having had an accident in the hallway. Sadly she passed away of old age (18 years old) two weeks ago. I miss her terribly and never got upset over what happened. I am doing well and need to stay home another month. I am blessed to have family/friends, a home, sick pay benefits, two remaining dogs that I love, health insurance and so many more. I will recover. 🙏❤.

Great message Granny…I know exactly what you mean….i have been there several times and I needed a little kick in the pants to realize how fortunate I really was. That doesn’t take away our problems but it makes us calm down and realize there is a pathway out of our troubles by realizing that it could be worse.

Hi Granny,❤ i know how you feel. I have to do everything myself too even though i have a husband. He cant cook, clean, drive a car, pay bills do anything really. His eye sight is very bad and has a bad back. I have bad arthritis too. Know how you feel with pain all the time too. I take pain strong medication 24/7. I am thankful I have a house and car too. Nice you have your mother and nice family. I have had days like that too. I dont have any relatives or friends to ask for help, have to basically figure it out myself with a comment or two from my other half. 😮 Had to give up working right now too because of bad back/hip which is infuriating 😢. Being 68 years old is awful. Hope things are going better for you now. Too bad you are not my neighbor, would be nice.😊 Have a great night. Take care, better days ahead. 😍💙 Hi to Gizmo 🐶 🐕 puppy. We all need that release of a good cry once in a while. I went through losing someone in February, battling a foot problem all spring, traveling to an Eclipse ( with not good foot for driving ) and then I nearly lost my foot and or my life from all that. then, in the hospital ( for a week ) I'd stayed strong and cheery and had a wonderful o'l time. I got home and a guy came to clean out my lint from my dryer ( I was late with that and the build up was causing my new dryer not to work good ) and I ended up crying at his unnecessary fussy words! Oh really? That's what broke me...an insufferable lint dude? LOL I needed a cry I'd been strong too long. But yeah I had the same sad feelings for a young dude sleeping on a bench the other day. I wish there was more places for folks and help for em. So many have contributing problems and I never have good results trying to help them in person but I support organizations that do. Bless.

Several years ago, my health tanked. It has been so frustrating to be homebound much of the time because of it. On good days I may drive in to Walmart and do some errands. Bad times, hubby drives me. It is a struggle to keep a good attitude when I am feeling weak and wobbly.

Hi Granny, I’m having that kind of day today. I called a friend to chat and she went on and on and didn’t take a breath, to let me have a word. I said goodbye and hung up. Other stuff too. I have fibro and cry a lot, many bad days after activity. I’m older than you are. Some days are diamonds, some days are stone… as John Denver sings. Take care. Yes, someone always has it worse.

Once I was driving my car to work and there was traffic and I saw it from far away by the lady behind me I guess she was distracted and crash my car at the same time I was thinking I had bad luck. And then my car was total loss they took me in an ambulance I couldn’t work for a week and then I was thinking maybe this happened because I was complaining when I had my family a car, a roof over my head a good job. So every time I want to complain I said to myself shut up your mouth and your mind girl you are alright and no more complaining. Thanks God for everything I have

Instead of asking God, "Why me"?, ask yourself "Why NOT me"? With God, ALL things are possible. So YOU, as a Believer, will get through whatever you will encounter. Remember this when going through a trial of any kind.

I had a day like that a while back. My daughter and I were driving home 3 hours from my sister’s house and we got caught in traffic, got turned around when we stopped for gas, got behind every slow car on the road. I was so annoyed. When we were about 10 minutes from my daughter’s house, we came up on a wreck that had happened just a few minutes earlier. I looked at my daughter and I said…that’s why we were late. If we had been a few minutes earlier, that might have been us. Thankfully all involved ended up ok. But now when I’m late,or catch every red light, I just say well, there must be a reason.😊😊

Yes Granny, even in the worse circumstances, there is always something to be grateful for. In 2016 our house flooded and we lost everything in it. Fortunately we had flood insurance on the structure, but not the contents. Before I started feeling sorry for myself, I reminded myself that these were just things and things can be replaced. I was grateful my family and fur babies got out safely, we had saved our 2 vehicles so we could manage to get to work, and I knew in my heart, God would meet all our needs, not wants, but needs. Going through this has changed my perspective on a lot of things.
