I'm a biker and these clips mostly confirm why I find other bikers are some of the worst assholes on the road. A lot of these confrontations were actively created by the riders going too fast and aggressive or carving through traffic, and could have been prevented if they just took it a bit easy and looked ahead.

Yeah don't see a problem here, the person was changing lanes while the bike was passing moving traffic further back. The law is not clear on motorbikes passing between slow moving traffic, but you are allowed to change lanes if you are in a car. The bike was quite far back when it started changing lanes, the driver may have looked and not seen the bike. In my opinion bikes often go too fast between two lanes of slow moving traffic, and it is often deemed to be the biker at fault in these situations when something happens. In the past I have had bikes pass me when sitting in traffic at 30mph in a 40mph limit. That is asking for trouble.

As a biker myself i find the best course of action is to be ultra safe and calm. If a car doesnt see you they will soon get a shock when you magically appear in one of their mirrors. I never flip a finger or call people wankers. Just take the upper ground guys and ride safe.

"Filtering" is not a magic word that excuses irresponsible speed from motorcyclists. If you're going to zip in between "near" stationary traffic at speed, it's your fault if a motorist fails to see you and shouting "filtering!" changes nothing. We all need to be respectful and responsible.

@@edj4833 @Matt_Alaric The cyclist put himself in that position, if he was not prepared to go he should not have moved forward. By moving there he could have prevented the drivers of the cars on either side from feeling able to move forward (due to the space available and the proximity of the cyclist), thus continuing the flow of cars that should have given way. I don't think the motorcyclist has any better roadcraft mind you, but atleast he was prepared to go on.

@@Sorbzski99 I didn’t say they couldn’t, i said “there’s no way the cars could have anticipated” A lot of our drivers are pensioners doing their shopping. It’s on everyone else to slow down to their speed, because the right to drive should be above the right to drive fast. There would be no way someone at say, 79 years old popping down the shops could have seen/anticipated. It’s on bikes to slow down, not for other motorists to finely attune their senses to motorbikes. Limiting the acceleration and top speed of these vehicles is the only way i think. Nobody needs a superbike, and we are supposed to believe people buy them to “ride safely” which is Bs. They are ridden for speed and thrills and everyone knows it, yet if they come off they blame everyone else for not anticipating.

@@RaferJeffersonIII this is an incredibly dangerous attitude. Awareness and anticipation are fundamental parts of driving, car and motorcycle. If a driver cannot anticipate or show road awareness, especially toward something that is in the Highway Code, they have no business being behind the wheel. It is tantamount to blaming the victim for the crime. Yes, a lot of the bikers are at fault too, but the car drivers have a greater responsibility given the fact they pose the greater threat in any accident.
@RaferJeffersonIII
@RaferJeffersonIII 2 жыл бұрын
@@cthulhstu absolutely not. It’s victim blaming to assume pensioners should be aware enough to keep up with the many, many bikers on super bikes speeding. Quit with the victim narrative: we want a world where the older folks can be able to be independent. To say if they can’t keep up with thrill seekers is so self centred it’s beyond belief. What do you want, grannies can’t stay on the road because you want to ride your bike fast? Honestly, fk this attitude. You don’t NEED to speed and weave. You can drive slowly, can’t you? Grannies do NEED to get around. Mothers with kids need to go to school. People like me need to get to meetings. I’m super bike aware but I’m fed up with all this SMIDSY BS, stick to the limits, drive within yourself and try to be aware of cars is my advice. They are bigger than you, it’s on you to judge it and not blame everyone else. Bikers seem to want a world where the car is in the wrong on a drive facto basis. Bike going fast? Your fault. Bike weaving unpredictably? Your fault. Spend your time driving just looking for us, so we can have the run of the road. Bikers are the last people to lecture anyone on safety.

I haven't ridden in the UK for over twenty years, but it's comforting to discover that UK drivers still drive like motorcycles aren't there (or aren't entitled to be there!). The only thing I will say, as a former motorcycle instructor, is that many of these incidents wouldn't have been so close if the rider hadn't assumed that the driver was competent. Just because they're not homicidal doesn't mean they're not out to get you. Ride accordingly. All the best from sunny France where the roads are much, much less busy.

You saw a car being driven dangerously, but when you caught up with it you stopped alongside it and looked in the driver's window and then pulled in front. What did you think was going to happen next? She'd see the errors of her ways and magically become the perfect driver? Why put yourself in that position at that moment, simply because the laws allow you to? I'm allowed to walk through my local park in any direction I want, but if see a crazed guy waving a machete, I wouldn't go and walk near him, because "he shouldn't be waving a machete and I should be able to walk where I like." You were always going to slow down for the car but you felt the need to get milimetres away from the car, beep your horn, stop in the middle of the road and cause a scene. It just slows traffic even further. The person in the car clearly wasn't paying attention. What difference does beeping at them gonna make. I know you had right of way but personally I would have just slowed down and timed it so by the time the car is over the roadabout, you can pop in behind at a safe distance.

Had to comment. I'm about to get into biking, but I have to say I can't remember seeing a bike on the road in the last 6 months, it's so rare in the UK. Half of the riders in these clips are self-entitled. Unfortunately, due to the low number of bikes on the road, people do not look out for them. Even when I wasn't into biking, I'd do my best to let motorcyclists filter, give them room and let them overtake - but doesn't mean everyone thinks that way. Drivers are not used to seeing bikers, something I learnt more and more in my car advanced driving course. Most bikers in these videos have not picked a lane, overtaking on both sides, assuming people have seen them, assuming everyone else knows the highway code back to front, and that everyone else must stop. Unsafe filtering, sneaking up on drivers and hanging around their blind spots. The amount of vehicle in view is not huge for a bike, a car may not be looking for a 2 wheeler due to the nature of bike numbers in the UK. Everyone has the opportunity to prevent an accident regardless of who's fault it may be, keeping good distance, passing with distance, assuming people have not seem you, minding your speed, driving in the center of the lane, wear some reflective gear, make yourself be seen rather than assuming you've been seen. Don't get angry just because someone didn't see you then rage ride, hit mirrors and loose your own balance. You have to adapt yourself for the environment you live in and take responsibility of your own safety. It's all good blaming the other people after an accident, but if you could have done something about it, then you can start by blaming yourself. No doubt, some terrible observing and driving from car drivers, even as a car driver you have to watch out for numpties, but as a biker, you really have to take your safety into your own hands. Happy, safe riding, stay up right!

If you're hit, you're hitting the ground hard. You'll likely brake some/many bones and the possibility of death isn't even out of the question in a 40/50/60mph crash. Do you think it isn't smart? That's cool, but you keep this opinion for yourself and you don't force others to agree with you especially not by driving in a illegal way to endanger others as a "punishment". FOR EVERYONE WHO DOESNT UNDERSTAND WHY FILTERING IS SAFER THAN SITTING IN TRAFFIC The most common accidents on the roads are rear end shunts at speeds below 20mph. In those incidents, the cars are barely damaged and a lot of the time the shunt isnt bad enough to deploy the airbags. The car occupants are often never injured at all either, due to the cage like structure of their vehicle protecting them. However, when a motorcycle is in the middle of a couple of 2 tonne stationary metal objects (aka cars), I dont even need to explain how the results can be devastating. As the old saying goes, dont get stuck between a rock and a hard place. Hence why it is most safe for a motorcyclist to be positioned inbetween slow moving or stationary vehicles. With the whole incident with the goggle-eyed entitled dummy at 5:00, the motorcyclist moved inbetween and infront of the vehicle is his lane and in clear sight of the stationary driver just to his 8 O'clock. The motorcyclist was in the safest possible position he couldve been at those traffic lights. Goggle-eyes made it dangerous by then proceeding to undertake the motorcyclist. Car drivers shouldn't get entitled and think "oh, if a motorbiker can do it, I can do it back". Doesnt work that way im afraid. Cagers will be Cagers

As a biker who passed there test today, i find there is a massive change that bikers need to adapt and thats just think that in that split second your filtering and passing a car who has no idea you are there dont be supprised if they dont see you, hell most of you drive cars as well and you know. That said stop putting yourselves into a situation where your requiring someone to react as 9 out 10 tomes they don’t! Sometimes its just stupid drivers doing stupid driver things! Stay safe and always assume the worst ❤

7:46 - You know what's also not how the Highway Code works? Overtaking a bus when it's started to indicate (7:42) to take off. (223, 167 "when a road user is indicating right, …")

Nefarious, and a lot of other bikers and car drivers alike, does not know his Highway Code (rule 170). "Take extra care at junctions. You should watch out for pedestrians crossing a road into which you are turning. If they have started to cross they have priority, so give way."

Not really. The biker created the animosity, he could've held back and let the dum-dum go on his way.

Not at all. It could potentially damage the car to start with, but also the biker put themself into a dangerous situation by trying to overtake on a roundabout. There's nothing technically wrong with that, but people consistently get the wrong lanes on roundabouts so better to hold back than put yourself there, especially if you're a more vulnerable road user.

@@MultiVeeta bro read the comment.. Being a biker doesn't mean you are the only person on the road? He should've checked if he was seen by oncoming traffic EVEN IF he is supossed to go first.. You should always look to make sure they actually let you go fiest before driving

@@ElmoPlayss did you even watch it? He entered the roundabout indicating right and the car never stopped at the junction. Do you even know how roundabouts work? He clearly was watching where he was going and being aware that this guy wasn't stopping because if he hadn't he would have been under the car.

The intent of filtering is to allow motorcyclists to make progress through slow-moving or stationary traffic. It is legal to filter through traffic as long as it is done safely. ... Filtering at 20mph through traffic that is crawling at 5mph is acceptable but filtering at 65mph through traffic travelling at 50mph is not.
