The visuals in this MV are phenomenal. Movie quality. Grungy, post apocalyptic, traditional Japanese culture, even some Japanese horror movie elements. Nemophila did a cover of Shimi as well. It's fire. Check out Satsui Vs Satsui, it's fire as well. That instrument was a Shamisen.

In the original version of Shimi, Nao sang the more melodic parts so it sounds pretty natural to have Atarashii Gakko singing them. AG! are the 4 girls in the sailor suit school uniforms and their dance experience and long hair makes for some great headbanging. Nao still gets to sing the final melodic part. The musical styles of MTH and AG! are very different, but they have a similar ethos of challenging Japanese conventions and putting on an exciting show. AG! were formed by the Japanese agency Asobisystem back in 2015 and early on some people called them an idol group, but AG! have explicitly said that they don't identify that way. Part of the reason is that they encourage self expression and individuality and they do all their own choreography and write the lyrics to many of their songs. They will have done all the choreography for their parts in the Shimi MV. The on stage front woman is Suzuka because of her strong voice and large personality, Rin does a lot of rapping and Kanon and Mizyu do the more melodic singing. Their stage show is very dynamic with some great dancing and crowd interaction where Suzuka often crowd surfs and they get a lot of laughs from the audience too. They joined 88Rising in 2019 to get into the international market and since 2023 have had a pretty rapid rise in popularity. They just completed their first world tour playing mid sized venues in 25 cities across N. America, Europe and Asia and released a new album called "AG! Calling". I encourage you to check out some more of their stuff like "Atarashii Gakko, Otona Blue, The First Take".

those shrine maiden "miko/巫女" use flutes that real name is Ryuteki "龍笛" not Shakuhachi "尺八" , there are different embouchure hole position : Shakuhachi on top and Ryuteki on side and size are different

An absolutely brilliant song, we didn't think Maximum The Hormone and Atarashii Gakko would go so well together. We especially like Kanon's (the super cute one who sang with piano accompaniment) singing part and the subsequent madness. We are very excited to see what the CD version will sound like, but we have to wait another month until it arrives together with Hanabie's new EP (shipping costs are far too high for individual deliveries). Another brilliant song is Yoshu Fukushu, a song about bullying at school. And the song A.L.I.E.N. is pure craziness, the video of which you have to watch until the last second. Another very good collaboration song is Knosis (with former Crystal Lake singer Ryo Kinoshita) with the song Fuhai feat. Yukina from Hanabie.

I didn't have any pre-expectations for this song, other than I knew it was gonna be entertaining and lots of tempo changes and potential genre crossovers! 😆🤣😀 But I really like the Atarashii Gakko parts and it helps the heavy parts stand out more because of the contrast.
