It's a nautral instinct to be needed vs needy. Children are best examples of this trait. Early in their life they don't want you to help them they want to help you. And most parents miss this great opportunity. My 7 year old grandson and I were in New York City several years ago, He was always several steps in front of me . I held to the back of his shirt to keep tract. He asked why I was hold on to him. I said to him that I need not get lost from him. He then was quite all right for me holding on to him thinking he was now helping me vs me keeping track of him.

The importance of being needed is stright to the point. Regarding love: Have you loved someone? There is nothing else and nobody else which/who you need more than the one you love. I agree with this concern you raised. Hashem made the world PERFECT. The perfection ended with Adam and Eve's disobedience. I appreciate the point that the rabbi makes that we are not 'needy, but we are 'needed'. Everyone has a purpose, but our personal choice is to either serve Him or not. BUT we also do NEED love. Love is not a Hollywood portrayal. It is an enduring relationship-- and it is the reason for His ultimate sacrifice.

Hello Rabbi. I’m a Muslim. In YOUR Jewish belief, you believe in the resurrection of the dead in the time of the messianic age. So after this resurrection of the dead what happens next. I know you believe in Olam Haba, so after this resurrection of the dead do u believe everyone will go to olam haba. What happens in olam haba then? I’m curious
@yeshevishman10 ай бұрын
I'm no expert on this, but the concept of what exactly IS Olam Habah is a bit conflated with some Christian beliefs. The resurrection of the dead is the physical bodies and the soul being reunited to elevate the bodies once again. (Which we believe is the ultimate glorification of G-d's creation: elevating the mundane.) Olam Habah is a MUCH more complicated topic because colloquially it has a few different meanings. It both refers to what happens after one dies (which all we can really know is that the soul is disconnected from the body), and it can ALSO refer to the days of redemption. It is actually NEVER mentioned directly in the Torah because the Torah is given for this world! (Torah is called "the book of LIFE" for a reason!) Ultimately, there are some deep ideas that I unfortunately don't know, but I also don't concern myself with them so much. I believe in what G-d has told us, and believe that He will give me the information I need when it's relevant. I hope this helps.

Why, Rabbi Friedman, does God have all these needs for people; wh y can't he accomplish everything without them?
@yeshevishman10 ай бұрын
This is an EXCELLENT question!!! The answer is extremely deep, but fundamental to understanding WHY G-d created the world. Why does ANYONE create? It is to fulfill something that they cannot do on their own. What can G-d not do on his own? Give to others. What is the ultimate giving? (Since why do something only partway when you have the power to easily create what you want?) The ultimate giving is to give people a partnership in your creation! The ONLY need of G-d is to give and therefore he creates each one of us with our own unique abilities to give where they are! I hope this answers your question!

This is where you missed a step. WHAT does it mean to repair the world? It doesn't mean give everyone what they want or THINK they need. It means showing the world how great G-d is so they can recognize all He has done for them. PART of that can include helping others, but it can't be because you expect something in return. It has to be with faith that if you do, G-d will repay you. (Btw, I urge you to try this for a month, and see the results for yourself.)
