Kinda sad when they were talking about Cliff and Orion and all that part, you can still hear a bit of hurting there in James's voice when he talks about him. To this day I don't think most fans realise just how devistating that must have been to these guys. It's a real credit to Cliff that his contribution to their overall sound is still audible through all these years even with some of the more drastic changes in song writing approaches on different records. Credit to Jason and Rob for being able to come into that at the points they did and deal with it. Especially Jason though. Couldn't have been easy. I'd love to listen to this same sort of discussion about Justice actually. I bet that one is a little more awkward in parts... Like the mixing choice 😂. I think I get why did what they did though.
@alexanderrojas79454 жыл бұрын
In a big part it's because they're aware that with Cliff they would have overcome everything they did after he passed away. Cliff was a very open musician and would surely have liked many of the changes the band made, but he would have taken it to another level thanks to his musical knowledge. I suppose that James, Lars and Kirk when they're talking about Cliff must think about how many amazing things would have happened with him in the band.

Can we get Flemming back for the next album please???
@Syklonus5 жыл бұрын
I think Flemming is a little behind the times. They should go to an established modern day metal engineer/producer like Andy Sneap, becasue he genuinely loves the 80s thrash metal scene. The guy they have in now (Greg Fidelman) just doesn't seem to know how to do a metal production. He's already given them a disaster when he mixed Death Magnetic AND Lulu, and while HTSD wasn't the worst production i'd ever heard, it sounded off - like a rock production trying to me a metal one. The guitar tone was too flat and the drums just sounded weird.

What a surreal experience for an extremely shy and humble Rob. Amazingly humble and to be in this band, to have the killer bass skill sets to win that gig was in itself staggering. And boy has Rob gone on and just aced it and then some. Age brings maturity, this clip evidence and a reminder of such. Great stuff, the amazing bak catalogue and history of one of the biggest and best metal bands on display.

Love hearing Flemming Rasmussen on this one. You can really hear his Danish accent. Lars' has almost dissapeared in all his years in the US. Would have been fun if Lars and him spoke some Danish just to keep the other guys left thinking "what are they saying?" (Plus I like hearing my own language on international media because it happens so rarely)

Wow, seems like James is totally doing a dig at Kirk here 4:50 since Kirk lost his iphone while making the Hardwired album which had all his demos on it and he couldn't remember anything, so he basically didn't contribute to any of the song writing.

The first Metallica song I ever heard was Battery. Side one, song one. My friend Leon and I played the whole first side, flipped the tape, played side two and sat there looking at each other in disbelief. We played it over and over that evening. This was a turning point for me. Music to me was never the same. Long live Metallica!!!✌️

I love to hear how this album was made, from the very people involved... the songs included in this one are amazing... "Orion" for me is a masterpiece, I still listen to it and blows me away even after all this years, I imagine all of them writing the song, creating the melody as perfect as it is. I hope to see soon in this channel a good resolution video of a live interpretation of "Orion" with the master Cliff... Regards to all who enjoy the good music!!!!

Awkward? To be a mega fan of a band and to not only be in them, but to sit in the same room as them and the production staff of a classic album as they tell stories PLUS be asked to give your thoughts? That's not awkward. That's the fucking farthest thing from awkward you could ever get. It's a dream come true!

Like most of the Metallica fans out there, I can never forget the chills, goosebumps and the feelings it gave me when I first listened to those songs on MoP. It was autumn time and together with my family we had travelled to a remote place for a weekend vacation. Leaves were falling and all that orange/brown/red mixture of colors of the forest would blend so well with the concept art of MoP. I'd bought the MoP in cassette format and it was then when I heard the whole album for the first time. Together with the atmosphere and surroundings that I was in, I was also quite messed up in the head. I was like 12 years old and didn't know what to do, what to expect from life (still have no idea) and I was feeling rebellious, kind of raging and so... But those riffs, drums, melodies, lyrics etc... they all came to my aid and have been such a shoulder to rest on in times when I felt weak. And that middle/interlude section of MoP song... This alone shows how these guys have felt about the music and artistry and put the strength of their imagination into their material at the time of writing the songs. That particular part all in a sudden hits you in the face and you can imagine hands from the skies, from within darkness or from nowhere pulling strings of a weakened, sad, broken puppet, just before the song reaches to a sweet climax where it explodes into its full potential with giving you eargasm until the closing bits. For emotional people like me, that particular song has those up and down moments that throws you into a turbulence from which you actually survive, ironically, with the help of the same song again. Since those years, I have listened to many great songs, bands and lots of extreme stuff like death metal but none of them (except Death) gave me such strong feelings and reflections. Thank you MetallicA, for being a driving force in our lives and for participating in our precious memories! \m/ PS. As a man growing up to this age with the absence of a father figure in my life, I can only sympathize what James had gone through in the past. Apart from what he created with MetallicA, this fact alone makes him a heroic icon for me.

For me Master of Puppets was so theatrical in the sense of like being in a nightmare! Like I died and went to hell and all my worst fears we're crashing down on me! It was so dramatic and Powerful! When I was young I would listen to it before I go meet somebody for a flight LOL get me all pumped up. What I loved most about you guys was that you told a story behind every song. It was like a movie, a scary one! I saw you guys live 4 times as a teenager. Thank you for what you guys did. No disrespect to anybody but Cliff Burton was amazing! You all must have been devastated. But you guys kept it together and pulled through and still made amazing music!

@buuzzsawtouchedme1947 жыл бұрын
+Mustafa Şatıroglu, Yeah I hope this is a series, do one for every album. Also, this may sound like a weird idea, but if you can have multiple guitar players in a band, then why not multiple Bass players, i.e. their not just going to kick Rob out (and I wouldn't want them to) so the next best thing is to have 2 Bass players. P.S. The second Bass player I'm referring to in Jason.
@satiroglu447 жыл бұрын
Blue Glass Productions I'm totally agreed with you man. I hope they do it serious too, there's different kinds of Metallica at every albums era. I especially wonder about AJFA. Because, they lost Cliff, a genious musician and bassist. It's normally effected their music. Even their behave to Jason. And about 2 bass idea, It could be really great. Multiple bass is not a requirement like two guitars, because guitars does melodies together. But they did awesome job with Jason at gig they did at San Francisco, 2011. Jason is a great musician, he surely put new ideas to band. And most of the fans loves him, plus his back vocals are great live, especially at these times.
@rickeyryan3036 жыл бұрын
2 guitars you can do but 2 basses doesn't work..
@buuzzsawtouchedme1946 жыл бұрын
+Rickey Ryan, But Jason would be there for mainly Nostalgia reasons, so he'd be playing the same shit as Rob, but people would be happy just to see him, as well as hear his vocals. An writing/recording wise, he would contribute too, as Metallica seems to be much more accepting of having Bass in their band these day's (and have admitted that themselves, and admitted that many of Jason's ideas were turned down simply because he wasn't Cliff). Or another idea, could be to have Rob and Jason rotate, so have Rob do the first half of the set list, Jason do the second half, then have both of them come on stage to do an Encore or something.

Great video! I played the middle section of Orion at my dad's funeral this year. When I was in high school I used to listen to metal a lot. I would often play Master of Puppets over my stereo in my room as that is one of my favorite albums of all time. One day my dad asked me what "that melodic classical sounding song" was. I figured out he was talking about Orion. From that day on he would often play Orion whenever he had his stereo setup going downstairs in our old house. It was his favorite Metallica piece. Every time I hear that song I think of my dad. I chose to play Orion's middle section at my dad's funeral because it is special to my dad and to me as a sort of bonding over music. I miss him.
