I went to see this movie with my family at the time. For this one time, it was difficult to be quiet in the movie theater. The whole audience was laughing and some were shedding tears. It was a con that was over and done with😅. Very impressive. Watching your video brought back wonderful memories. Thank you.

Apparently, this film was a possible ending for the anime but not for the manga. The story in Sorachi's line was not interrupted, so the anime simply continued adapting the rest after the film (although the title made it confusing and the third film was named "The very Final" to make it less complicated)

This movie really WAS meant to be the end of the Gintama anime. I was bawling all the time during this movie in the theatre. This was 2013. There was no guarantee that Gintama anime will be coming back. So this movie for us in 2013 really is the final. Fortunately, 2 years after this, Gintama anime coming back with one of the bestessssst arc 🔥

Amazing movie. The opening scene is one of the best 4th wall breaks I've seen. It works just fine both with the 4th wall and without it, as a skit and as normal part of the plot.

I loved this. Hearing this was meant to be the end had me feeling sad but I loved it. It’s made in a way to not interfere with things that were present but still enhanced the story and characters. If this was the finale, I think people would have accepted it, but since Gintama continues it’s labeled as so to a few. I both hated and loved the hospital scene with Otae and her friends. Sarutobi killed me. I really love how her relationship with Otae started. Like Hijikata and Gintoki- one was minding their own while a random person starting picking fights with them. And later that rivalry turns into a sort of mutual respect for the competitor they always knew. To Sarutobi Otae was her biggest competition from the start. It gets me every time. 😭 I loved that Otose, Gengai & Tama knew it was Gin. I absolutely loved that Sadaharu and Tae once again recognized his presence before anyone else. And the fact Gin just took extreme measures with a backup plan to make sure he could defeat himself. It was amazingly done.

This was totally meant to be the end of the anime, but this movie did really well, so the producers decided to greenlight a new season to continue adapting the manga.

What happened was the anime team decided not to continue Gintama, so they asked Sorachi sensei to make one last final movie to it. Gorilla sensei really can make an amazing story, with a crazy amount of tears and laughter combination. Cool asf soundtrack. I'm really glad we got this movie afterall. Still one of my fave anime movie ever.

Yeah, watching this movie when it came out was agony. I balled like a baby and was so sad they were ending the series. Personally, while I loved the movie and it could have made a good ending, I wouldn't have been as satisfied with it as I was rhe true ending of the series. This ending would have left so many unanswered questions that the series put into place and so many of the open storylines without closure. Kaguras hinted past, Gintoki's past, the issues with the shogunate, Takasugi, the bakufu and the harusame as well as the crows all would have remained entirely unanswered and reading rhe manga would have been difficult as the official Engliah translation ended I believe before this part of the series :( I loved it, but I just would have felt empty and not in the good way the actual ending made me feel empty/sad.

I honestly felt 1000x bad during rewatch, when Gintoki kept abusing Time Pirate... bec we discover it's actually Tama this whole time. Just rewatch it and copy-paste Tama's face when Gintoki slaps Time Pirate with the magazine.... Also thank you for your hard work in not only editing it for your website, but also for Ytube. Although I always watch in your website anyway :D
