The second time on the brink of death, the Godhand reappeared and offered to restore him in exchange for sacrificing his daughter. The Count begged to sacrifice anyone but her, but they were adamant that it must be her. Instead, died and was dragged off to whatever abyss of an afterlife was waiting for him. It can be argued that he didn't refuse, but simply "timed out," but I like the idea that this offered the idea that it was possible to refuse with enough willpower.

I feel like since there's one per finger on the god hand, Guts becomes the main on on the palm of the hand . He does this by everyone choosing to sacrificing themselves for guts on their own free will. The opposite of griffith. And instead of the behellit crying it will smile or something crazy like that because the behelith it's his kid. This would make since since Griffith was mad that Guts was able to go on his own because before that Guts was broken.
