Great idea with the shade cover, fan, and breaks. The heat is too much to work in for long periods of time. A kitchen isn't a kitchen until something drips/drops on the floor. What that tells me is someone is cooking for their family. Life is good😊

@mmurphy2317 Жыл бұрын
The critters aren't really mad in the summer. Their attraction to the "nearest" water source (e.g. human sweat, even though salty) makes people think they're being attacked. If you just let them alight on you for a sip or two...they'll usually fly off and leave you in peace. A bunch of hand waving and swatting gets them very curious and on occasion...stirs 'em up!...just sayin'...

Chicken tractors are inhumane. Have you ever seen them show a video after the chickens are over 6 weeks old? NO! Those tractors have no room for the chickens to spread their wings. I have chickens, meat birds and egg layers. Just butchered 30. The more humane way is in a coop with an outside run. They have fresh air, fresh grass and sunshine and are out of the elements and can run and stretch and lay in the sun if they want. It sickens me that so many homesteaders fell for this barbaric tactic. Same with just slitting the chickens neck vs lopping the head off. They SUFFER! BTW...they still bleed out with head cut off. Homesteaders have been lied to and fell for it hook line and sinker.

Just so you know... I free ranged my hens UNTIL a predator came along and ate all of them. As for the meat birds.. they are bred to grow incredibly large in a VERY short amount of time. After a while they can't even walk. I tried to get them to walk around outside.. but they were so big they could barely move. They just sat there... in an open yard. It's the breeding.. not the lack of opportunity to run around. Their legs cannot even support them. As for how they are dispatched.. I have no idea what you mean here. The method they use is about as humane as one can get. Some people do not believe in eating meat... that is fine... they are called vegetarians. I was a vegetarian for 7 years .. but it just did not work for me. .
@faithrada Жыл бұрын
@@tonisangel5024So.. you are suggesting they roam free and get eaten by predators? I believe Brett was raising some ducks last year that all got eaten. Some areas are populated with LOTS of predators... making free ranging impossible.

I use corrugated plastic (white) on my Salatin style tractor, use 2x4's and make an 8x7.5 foot tractor (ends sticking out in front on top and in back on bottom to make more of a skid and attach a handle bar across the front to hand-pull). Really simple and much lighter than metal versions. I also make the roof completely removable so that I can remove it in 2 pieces to get in and catch chickens. almost all boards are either 8 ft or 2 ft, and the roof framing boards are 2x4's ripped to 2x2ish, so it's light. Roofing plastic is not attached so that I can just throw it aside when moving the birds (and avoid running anyone over). I like it better than my giant Suscovich (sp?) style one. But, I need to adjust my second one to make it work better. I'm going to watch this build, though to adjust my second meat tractor :) Thanks!
