I get so frustrated watching videos of pedicurist and podiatrist where the patients have very very dystrophic nails, extremely long nails, fungus nails. People call the patients just terrible names, acting like they are so superior blah, blah, blah. They are very rude and hurtful. I try to explain there are many reasons us old people can’t always keep out nails perfectly done. I bet 9 times out of ten their nail are ugly and need care. You are getting this person “ all fixed up. Bless you. Merry Christmas to you n the patient.😊❤

Hi Dr Jefferson, I'm from the UK. Thankfully health care is free here, but you can also go the private route. You are such a kind and thorough Dr. and thank God that your patient has found their way to you. My mam has vascular dementia and arthritis and is in supportive living. She has her own flat, within the care centre and thankfully the centre has a NHS podiatrist who regularly comes to see her/them. In between their visits I will check her toenails and fingernails and trim them if she needs them trimming. You explain not only what their treatment is going to be, but also what/how you are going to doing this for them. This is such an important part of their treatment plan, but you explain this in a non judgmental manner ,not speaking down to them. How you give them aftercare advice is so important to them and/or their carers who support them wherever they are. You are such a talented man in your field of medicine and it is wonderful that your patients also allow us to see their treatment. There are many reasons why someone's nails/feet end up this way. I wonder if your patient has anyone who can help them at home? Often people do not want you to look at their feet let alone have you caring and helping them. Dr Jefferson and one other foot doctor I watch seem to be the only ones I hear explaining and suggesting to patients what type of shoes they need to be wearing, and correct sizing, to avoid recurence of foot problems and give more comfort and support. You're a good doctor and are so kind and patient with your patients.

Could the patient pour liquid moisturizer into a foot bathe foot in the liquid every day to get rid of ashy, hard dry skin. Roll foot around in baby oil, argan oil, lavender oil? Especially in between toes. Fungus loved dry skin.

understand I'm partially paralyzed on my left side hand, wrist, elbow & foot so I have to see podiatrist every 10 weeks and get pedicures in between time because insurance only covers every 10 weeks Wich is really to long. But I can't do anything so I pay for pedicures at nail shop with 1 tech I trust and knows what I need. Feet are important and is men neglect them at times.

Such a sad situation to not be able to even cut your own toenails. I have severe arthritis and osteoporosis in my spine, it's hard some mornings to move let alone to reach my feet. I I hate the thought that I'd have to ask someone to do it for me.
