It’s really hard to improve on a Process you haven’t mapped and benchmarked in the first place. Super hard.
Mapping your business processes is the best first step to take to start make improvements in your business. If you know what you do at a process level, you can then judge how well you’re doing or not doing.
Can you take the business processes that you have to give you a clear picture of where you are and then begin to improve that process and optimize things based upon efficiency and effectiveness? Can you make it better, faster, with more quality? Whether that’s your Sales Process, your Marketing Processes, your Operational Processes and on and on. If you can get to a place of understanding where you are, then you can judge where you want to go for better outcomes.
Document your processes for repeatability and measurement so everyone knows what the process is supposed to be. From there, look at the current performance of the process and measure how it’s going. Look at those numbers with an objective lens and see where there might be performance optimizations or customer issues to resolve so improvements can be made.
Then make those improvements and do it all over again. That’s why Continuous Improvement models exist, because there is always something we can be doing better or differently. This can be a huge unlock for both top line Revenue and bottom line Profitability. Make your processes easier on the Customer and better for your Teams.
Know where you are, decide where you want to go and make those changes on a regular basis.
It’s that easy and that hard.
