Yeah, when he gets all right thanks to Tifa and the lifestream he will remember how Zack and Aeris died in front of him and his blocked trauma will start healing. They are doing great with Cloud's arch, in the original felt a bit rushed but shocked too, this time it's so well done about mental health, getting help and this, he is going to have a great arch to feel better because of their deaths.

The first prediction has nothing to do with Aerith (not to mention that, if it did, it would contradict the last prediction). The first prediction is about Cait Sith himself. They "throw caution to the wind" by trusting him (knowing he is ShinRa), he betrays them, but because they trusted in him in the end he comes through and pleasantly surprises them by showing up in a twist (he is "good" after all) and saving them from the Temple of the Ancients.

Sort of related to Cait Sith, I've been wondering who the mysterious leader of the Wutai is, some person who never shows his face, even Yuffie has never seen him. I don't know if this a new subplot to this remake series of if it's part of the OG game because I never played the OG, but I kinda wouldn't be surprised if the leader of Wutai is that guy in Shinra who's controlling Cait Sith, the one guy who had a problem with dropping the Sector 7 plate. That or maybe it's Sephiroth, pitting Wutai and Shinra against each other on purpose to distract them while he pursues his own goals.

@@MrHoll87 The guy you are thinking of is Reeve. He is not Viceroy Sarruf (the mysterious leader of Wutai, as you called it). Sarruf is Rufus. It's made even more obvious in Japanese, where his name is literally an anagram. This subplot is not in the OG (the Wutai war never returns in the OG at all), but it is a call-back to a subplot in Before Crisis (Rufus was giving off information to the AVALANCHE branch that was working with the Wutai rebellion in order to undermine his father - This was already alluded to in Intermission as well, in the Remake series. Ultimately ShinRa found out there was a traitor amongst them and blamed the Turks. They were hunt down by ShinRa while, at the same time, they were trying to find Zack and Cloud (who were also being hunted down at this time) to try and save them (as seen in Crisis Core but, more prominiently, in Last Order). They failed to get to them on time (which is touched upon by Reno in DFFOO when he reunites with Zack) and eventually disbanded in order to try and not get killed by ShinRa, too. Only Tseng, Reno and Rude decide to stay and they are sentenced to death. This is when Rufus decides to intervene and comes clean to his father about the truth, effectively saving the Turks from certain death. This is why Tseng, Reno and Rude are so loyal to Rufus (and not to ShinRa as a company per se, exactly), as that is the only demand Rufus made of them. So yeah, that's who Viceroy Sarruf is. And I can't wait to see how that entire mess develops in Part 3, since things never went things far at all in the original Compilation.

I'm surprised to see people think he was talking about Aerith, since ....you know, she died. and if he did create an alternative timeline, it is one where the world ends since she needs the powers of being in the lifestream to defeat Sephiroth, which is why she always had to die. Either way, it's not a pleasant surprise by any measure.

@@jdzspace33 It is pretty obvious. However, I disagree with you. Aerith does not need to die, and Rebirth made that extremely clear. The only reason for her death to be "necessary" was that it was the only way for her to "control" the Lifestream, something that Rebirth has just retconned. She can clearly control the Lifestream while being alive. So yeah, I do think she is alive in a world Cloud created by deflecting Sephiroth's sword and I'll be very surprised if they are not reunited at the end (though given Rebirth affinity system, I also believe it will probably be up to the player how all that goes). Regardless, this trilogy will only matter if it actually makes a difference, since, if not, humanity will still be dead in 500 years. /shrugs

That's why she knew the end was coming, but she had to die so Aerith prime could do her job. That's why she couldn't move freely between them and even take cloud with her until after she died. She always has to do in order to save the planet. That core to the story

The rainbows in the background give a clue as to what reality Cloud is in. Rainbows = Aerith's "alive". No rainbows = Aerith's dead. When Aerith in lying in a pool of her own blood, no rainbows. When Aerith caresses Cloud's cheek and tells him it's okay, no blood, but rainbows. This could be hugely helpful to telling realities apart in the future.

I put some time thinking about these predictions and realized something interesting that might come up in Part 3: Cait's predictions might actually be in chronological order. The 1st [Cloud getting help from the party to create an alternate world where he saves aerith] and 2nd [Cloud being in possession of a powered up Black Materia) predictions make sense as they happen one right after the other, which means that the third prediction: "Seek and you are sure to find. But alas, you shall forever lose what you cherish most" would not have happened yet. If this turns out to be true, it sets up an interesting question for the next game as for what Cloud will lose. Just a fun thought experiment. Thanks for the vid!

I saw it as a representation of what Sephiroth is trying to achieve. Fate is his to manipulate. Even if you save Aerith, he can just 'fix' it by changing fate back to her death simply by making that world a reality. He wants to create a single world in the multiverse, but he wants the power to pick and choose which plotlines from each world exist, thus putting him in the best possible position.

Pretty sure it's a timeline split. We're shown Zack several times in the story when Cloud isn't around (the parallel timeline that splits into 3 - he goes to Shinra Tower and dies, he goes to save Biggs and dies, he goes to the Church and finds Sephiroth). Considering NONE OF THAT is from Cloud's perspective, and Cloud isn't even around for most of it, we can assume that's all true events (not hallucinations), just happening in a separate timeline. Then that Zack (the one that goes to the Church) helps Cloud fight in the battle with Sephiroth. This means THAT must also be a true event, not a hallucination. The stuff we see from Zack's perspective we can know is real since that Zack exists independent of Cloud's mind (he's not just a figment of Cloud's imagination). We also know he's not being manipulated/mind controlled/made to see hallucinations by Jenova or Sephiroth since unlike Cloud, Zack was never overwhelmed or consumed by Jenova cells.

It the original, Cait says on the 3rd Fortune that he has never gotten that fortune before. Implying the moogle gives randomized, preprgrammed fortunes. It was his excuse to see what happens, but in turn he was spying on them.

I know this is an outdated detail, but I love the little detail the animators put in to tell when Cloud is being controlled by Sephiroth and when it's Cloud himself. Look at his eyes: When it's Sephiroth in control/jenova, the eyes turn into slits. When it's Cloud, he has his normal circular irisis. Also something I don't see getting talked about enough is the fortune that he'll lose "What he cherishes most" and many fans wrongly speculate that they're referring to Aerith. In Advent Children, Cloud States that "There isn't a thing I don't cherish" leading me to believe the main goal of the bad guys is to make meteor happen across all timelines that are in contact with the multiversal lifestream. I really hope they do more things like this to tie in Advent Children.

The 2nd and third one I knew from my first playthrough, but the 1st one I was still wrapping my head around. From the OG, you know Cait and the black materia double crossing. The third made me think of Advent Children when Sephiroth said, "What do you cherish most, giving me the pleasure of taking it away?" And it shows Aerith, Tifa, Zack, Denzel, and Marelene.

Yeah, I'm team Tifa - but that's considering the entirety of the compilation. They have an almost "meant to be" or "it's obvious" kind of chemistry. But Cloud organically seems to have feelings for Aerith, and that can't be denied (and vice versa). I've never liked this Cloti vs Clerith thing that goes on. I'm almost certain Nomura mentioned in a really old interview that FF7 is a love story, and that Cloud does have feelings for both. I'm not finished with Rebirth but boy oh boy does it made things SOOOOOO much more complicated imo. I'm literally teeter tottering between the two, and seriously checking my biases. The new Zack stuff in the game isn't helping, lol.

I have yet to see a scene except the contrived ones in the end that come out of nowhere, in all of the two games where they have 'chemistry'. Those end-scenes feel like I'm watching Aerith fantasise, and it made me nauseous. Well, at least Cloud's Japanese VA really outdid himself there, so that was still enjoyable. Yes, he likes her, no doubt, and he wants to protect her ... but that's it. Could he have developed feelings for her? I could see it, yeah. If Tifa weren't there. But as some Cleriths have told me, Aerith is his true soulmate, Tifa just for the physical stuff or something. (Oh, the best one was 'Cloud and Tifa's kiss was like Seymour and Yuna in FFX' ... like wtaf.) Also, whatever chemistry they might have ... remember when Cloud said Gongaga looked familiar to him when he was never there? Yeah, there is that mindfuckery with Zack going on. As long as that isn't cleared up HOW bad his memories and emotions are entangled with Zack, I don't want to hear anything about their twue wuv when it could easily be Zack's influence. Look, I'm not team Tifa or team Aerith, I'm first and foremost Team 'lovetriangles need to die in a fire' and team 'consistent characters and stories'.

I think our perception of what "chemistry" is, is the only thing that separates us, but I more or less agree with you. Rebirth's ch.14 took some real liberties imo, but we have to accept that, now, it is what it is. All still up to our interpretations. Can we like... be friends somewhere and lean on each other when it comes to these arguments? I hear Cloti is bad, but I've been absolutely DUNKED on by Clerith time and again. It often feels like I'm just not allowed to use logic.

@@givmi_more_w9251 The way I break it down is: 1) Cloud does have a mixture of some of Zack's memories, but they aren't solid enough (interpersonally) to make a clear difference. The main issue at hand is that (call it coping with trauma or whatever) Cloud gets flashes of memorable places or events, and used these events to gaslight himself into thinking he made it into SOLDIER. If personal relationships were influenced by Zack's memories then not only would we have seen a "flashback" when first meeting her in Remake but it would've been an immediate connection. The theme of the remakes seem to be about identity and the different relationships you forge in your life, be it through shared trauma or experience, but the details will be made more clear about THIS version during the 3rd installment. 2) Cloud can, and does, have feelings for both Tifa and Aerith. On the one hand, Aerith helped break him out of his "tough guy" shell in both the OG and remakes. You will naturally feel some positive connection to the person that breaks down your walls because you feel safe and comfortable around them. That's exactly what happened with Cloud and Aerith. HOWEVER, through the story Cloud realizes that Tifa has been there from the beginning. Tifa was his friend, they made promises to each other, they grew up together, and after reuniting after 5 years Tifa was still the one who invited him back into her life. I view the Cloti/Clerith debate as: "I love you because you made me feel human again" vs. "I've always loved you and I just never realized it, but now that we're adults and have addressed our issues/shared in experiences that forced us to rely on one another it's plain to see that you're it and you always have been it". 3) There absolutely is guilt on Cloud's part. Before Mideel it's the guilt of "I couldn't save her", whereas after it's survivor's guilt and the realization of the fact that Aerith needed to be a sacrificial lamb in order to save the world. In the OG your relationship with Aerith was more friendly (She was the one who romanticized Cloud because he reminded her of her "first serious boyfriend") and her death scene seemed more like "I wasn't strong enough and now my friend is dead". The Mideel/Lifestream sequence proved that Aerith was only a small but important part of Cloud's life, and it was only ever about Sephiroth...but who has always been there with him? Tifa.

I feel like this is a convergence point of timelines. Through the tampering of the timeline from future Sephiroth, Aerith was able to work things around to help lead things to this moment. The Cloud in Rebirth is now different from the Cloud in OG. Instead of keenly blaming himself for the next few years over her death, he's still connected to her through the lifestream. We're seeing mixes of the OG timeline with dead Aerith and Cloud speaking voiceless words like the original material, but now he sees and feels Aerith alive in Rebirth. Part 3 is going to be insane.

Exactly. Seph sent everyone but Aerith to the World Between Worlds to get the black materia, the OG game. The OG temple is in the Southeast, but the Rebirth one is in the North. Foreshadowing: Cissnei said she doesn't feel like Zack is gone. Also, don't miss the implication that Aerith tipped off Marlene to "get Cloud cured", which led to Zack going to Hojo, who probably had Genesis (cured) DNA from Deepground. It seems because of this cure, Cloud recovered his memory of Zack (way ahead of schedule) and had the self-control to block Seph, which in turn is why Seph said he underestimated Aerith. Cloud wasn't a puppet like he thought.

Aerith is able to rejoin the party but ultimately chooses to reside in a world where Zack is. There will be a tearful farewell. The world where Zack is bound to is ending but she will still go, knowing that while there might be many worlds they all share the same lifestream. By the time of Advent Children the world will have expired, and both Aerith and Zack are there together as we saw them in the end of the movie.

They make it pretty obvious with the green light always floating around her. So that doesn't really work. That wasn't a surprise, or him throwing caution to the wind. The others didn't see Sephiroth kill Aerith. Only Cloud, Zack and Aerith fight Sephiroth. Cloud may have actually killed Aerith himself, while being controlled by Sephiroth/Jenova. It means sephiroth knows that if cloud stops him from killing aerith it will only create another world where she lives. And after the world merging, the world where she's alive will linger, able to summon holy against sephiroth. It seems different from og, but it's basically the same to me. Aerith is still able to summon holy "somewhere". We just thought aerith did it in og from the lifestream, but now we know that she's gonna do it from that created timeline, merged with cloud's original timeline. From my understanding sephiroth was not able to do anything that could change his fate (win against cloud). 🤷🏻‍♂️ Or am i missing something here? What I find funny is, people are so heavy into this particular debate, but ultimately, with all the different ways you can interpret things, or things added in later, or whatever else, it all boils down to one dichotomy. There are two canon options. Cloud either has a romantic relationship with Tifa, or he has a platonic relationship with her. There is no canon option for a relationship with Aerith. Also fun fact, Cloud and Aerith never truly meet in the first place. Cloud ONLY knows Aerith through the veil of his mind being shattered shattered, and he is incorporating Zack's stories into his own persona (a huge part of which is Zack's descriptions of the girl he likes, which matches up to Aerith, because it literally is Aerith.). On the other hand, Aerith ONLY knows Cloud while he is trying to force himself into Zack's role, which reminds Aerith of her first love (because Zack literally is her first love.). So, they are drawn to each other based purely off of the lie that Cloud is veiling over himself. I honestly don't understand the Cloud X Aerith arguments, when they have never legitimately met each other in a true manner. BTW, who ever said that Cloud doesn't feel anything about Aerith? I still want answers. Did Cloud actually save Aerith? I know they show another timeline where she dies, but whats real what isn't? Was she or was she not saved? Or is Aerith both alive and dead? Alive in one dead in another and what was up with Aerith in the end? She she a ghost was Cloud in the timeline where she died? Nothing makes sense.

i feel like the 3rd one is different, thing he's looking for is the real sephiroth, which he is garunteed to find if he looks for him due to the jenova cells guiding him to his body for 'the reunion' the thing he cherish's most is not aerith, but actually his SOLDIER persona and everyones opinion of him. in the next game he will have the truth come out about who he really is and his failings, hence losing something he cherishes its basically a 1:1 of the original prediction in the OG FF7 and if you look at the japanese for the same prediction, the translation is roughly: "You will meet the [person] which you pursue. However you will lose the most precious thing." the first part refers to a person BUT the second part refers to a 'thing'. The real sephiroth is the person, and the thing is his SOLDIER persona. its foreshadowing the events at the crater people forget tifa and aerith are both side characters in this story, its not about them. its about cloud and sephiroth. if it was about tifa or aerith dont you think cloud would know what he cherishes most? the reason he's confused is because to him, he doesnts cherish anything much, because he isnt aware of his own fake persona

sooo much reach, first of all, Aerith IS the main character along with Cloud, she is the first character shown in the first opening scene. Second of all, the OG use the word "thing" because they don't want to spoil the story, this is just basic level writing, they are not gonna write "you are gonna lose someone or you gonna lose aerith", might as well tell and spoil the player the whole story.

I haven't gotten this far into the game yet, but the developers definently trolled the players by having cloud block the blade just to have the whispers put it back a few seconds later. I dont mind watching spoilers because i believe the original one had the better story. The remakes just elaborate and expand on it.
