I am a Gen4 guy. I have a Silencerco threaded 17L barrel that I will run in my regular G17. It will really bring up the velocity. Being a 1/2 or so longer than the factory 17L barrel. I wish someone would make a Gen4 17L slide with a RMR cut.

Ya maybe they'll do a run of gen 5 eventually, otherwise you're stuck getting it milled out on a gen 3, they also did runs of the 17L in gen 1 and 2, but I wouldn't mill those, too rare, unless they're banged up then I'd go for it! 🤘 😆 🤘

That likely won’t happen. The longslide gen4 Glocks are the 34 and 35. They are shorter than the 17l and 24.

The .40 cal longslide glock 35 and Glock 40 10mm work really well. Packs a whollop too. If you like the thinner longer slide get the .40. If you want more power get the 10mm.

Tried finding the G24 originally but they're hard to find for a decent price (most above 1K) had to settle for the G40 for now. Still want a G24 for the rarity of it.

Heard Glock had recently made another run of 17Ls so took a chance and called my top Glock dealer a couple days ago who had one left in stock. Since I had searched for one for 10 years, I went the next day and got it. I like it pretty well but since mine will only be a range gun, I wish its slide wasn't cut out for less weight but still no problem. The trigger on mine doesn't seem much better than my other Glocks but I can live with that too. It's ugly like my other Glocks but it's cool and cool is all that matters. 😎

The cut isn't to cut down on weight like you are thinking. It is because if they didn't cut that weight out, the slide wouldn't cycle properly.

Gen 5 17L is on the lipseys website now... It hasnt officially been announced yet, but glock has rumored it for a couple of months. Also... The 17L's slide is 8.86 inches. The Glock 40 is 9.02 inches. Making their long slide 10mm the biggest of the glocks.

On the mag release the vickers tactical one is the best for gen 3 glocks i use them had no issues perfect upgrade.

The g40 is the same length, its a 6in too. You'd think the 41 would be the same, its not, its the same as the 34 and 35 which is 5.3". I believe all these models are designed for competition and can be used as duty guns too, robo cop style!

The 17L is my favorite Glock. I haven't noticed mine to be ammo sensitive.

the 17 L is the best pistol i know- but I recomend to change the original spring rod with a long stainless steel one. My 17L kept damging the plastic front cap because the Glock plastic spring rod bends and crushes against the upper inner hole ( hard to explain ) but if you own a 17L take out and check the spring rod at the front; you ll find some strange damages there and thats what I am talking about. I got a gen 3 if u do not have that problem ;)

Distributors will some times ask Glock or another gun manufacturer to make a limited run on a firearm. In this instance I believe TALO asked Glock to make another run the 17L. As far as it being a gen 3, Glock never updated it beyond gen 3.

Me too the Glock store got 10 in and sold them immediately. Glock sent them 15 more and I was lucky enough to hear them say that 15 more was on the way. I called and got the last one

They aren't talking at all about the finish for Gen3/4 when it isn't nDLC (like most of the Gen 5s). They brag about the nDLC quite loudly.

re the ammo issues someone on youtube claimed it needed some breaking in, then ate all ammo just fine. but he too had some issues initially. snagging mine (new) tomorrow will see what my mileage shows.

Current experience? I just bought one yesterday. Ran a box of 115gr pmc. Was having a lot of stovepipes, weak and erratic ejection etc. Ran a box of 124gr ammo inc.....no hiccups. Ejection still a little erratic. Ran another box of the 115gr pmc and didn't have any failures, but brass was going in all directions. There is supposedly an easy fix by swapping out the 336 ejector to a 19X. Glock technical support did however say that the gun prefers hotter ammo.

You should be able too, I can’t remember if Gen 3 barrels are different from Gen 4 and 5. They did just come out with the Gen 5 though 👌👌

No. The 34 has a 5.31 inch barrel. The 17L is 6.02 inches.
