Well that gets a win for the sheer bonkers of it 🙂 BTW, the reason angling them down to 'push off the ground' doesn't work is that the thrust comes from basic Newtonian reaction. The mass of the air thrown back pushes you forward. So to maximize the forward vector of your motion, you want the thrust pointed straight back. (Yeah, there could be some interesting ground effects etc. but that takes experimentation or modeling to figure out)

The original 'fan bike' idea was pioneered by Rob Warner in Earthed 3 (Alex Rankin, 2006). Of course he'd shout out Sam, Blake and Martyn are both friends with him. Martyn's 'Ashton Bikes' might have even been Sam's first pro sponsor

build a drill bike! I did one with a bmx chainring bolted on where the rear disc goes and a bmx freewheel on the chuck. then a bmx brake or loop of cable to operate drill trigger. might need some sort of chain tensioner

I thought you got the idea from colinfurze but it makes more sense that you were inspired by Sam, because if you'd been inspired by Colin, you would have rigged them to work all on one battery in the frame and single switch that was mounted up front to help keep the center of gravity between the wheels... and you probably could have gotten Colin Furze to collaborate on this. in fact you should try to get Colin to collaborate on all of these episodes. it's probably good that you didn't point them down, because you probably would have lifted up the front pivoting on the back wheel
