the cz bren is a highly underrated sporting rifle. the first gen are heavier but alot of guys prefer them.they've fixed the receiver exploding problem on the cz bren 2 which was pretty rare anyways. it's a little expensive tbh but I'd buy one before a scar or bushmaster acr.

You don't need to ditch the new camera just to get the background in focus! All you need to do is stop down your lens and close your aperture (raise the f number), or switch to a lens with a smaller aperture. You'll need to either slow down your shutter speed or raise your ISO to compensate because less light will be coming through, but everything will be in focus

He was cleaning up after he was done, looked to the side, and saw a 9mm bullet, halfway through one of the shingles completely undamaged. You can still use the super nice camera, just when shooting change the F-Stop to like f8 or something. Open apertures are good for single focus point shots, not multiple. Garandthumb has got this down really well.

Hey Matt. I have a challenge for you. It's been in my mind for the past couple of days watching back on some of your videos (Which are amazing) on what would stop bullets for protection at home. I think, that if you did the exact opposite and see what wouldn't stop bullets for an episode! Picture a scenario where your in any store and there's bad guys with guns going down the aisles. I'm making a range in my shed in the backyard I got sand bags with half inch ar500 steel between the back two plates and so far it will stop every caliber I have but I have issues with the sand bags ripping and dumping their sand everywhere. I got things on the side and back to keep it in there but I haven't found anything that can go on the front that prevents any sand from getting out while letting me shoot through it. I'm glad you did this test it seems like shingles old do very well to get the job done

The CZ Bren 2 pistol is cool, but I think the Carbine is even cooler. The 7.62x39 Bren 2 has some problems, but the 5.56 one runs amazing, and the BR in .308 they're coming out with looks just as good, if not even better. Their advertisement video for it is a legitimate torture test, and it looks like it performs amazingly. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

I know the instinct is to take that $800 lens, and stop it up to the maximum F1.4 for buttery smoothe bokeh. But many shots dont work well with that. The nice thing about full frame is that they do well with low light, so you can just stop it down to F8 or F16 get everything in focus, and still mostly keep your ISO noise really low

...Ballistic gel behind your "body armor" targets with the smaller calibers to see how far they penetrate. Yes the bullet went through but would the "armor" slow it down enough that the trauma it causes would be less? Might not stop the round but increase survivability. I'd be more worried of all the crap from the shingles the bullet injects into your chest lol

My theory: the faster the buullet, the hotter it gets on impact and the faster it smelts down the tar stopping the projectile

You should try to put about an inch of mortar between each layer, and, have about 6 units deep...this could make a suitable, effective, yet, cost efficient armor for a small dwelling/make-shift bunker, etc...easy to do- lay flat, apply mortar, within a 2X2 wooden frame, and, place second sheet on top...and, you could even reinforce it with screws/lag bolts (1" X 5/16" should be inexpensive and effective...)- just screw them in before mortar sets fully...6 units deep would have 12 sheets of asphalt shingle and 6 X 1" of mortar...

Saw this vid and sorry I cant help myself. What's really cool here about the shingles "anomaly" is because like Matt said there's tar involved, and tar is neat because it is in fact a type of "non-Newtonian" fluid... meaning the harder you hit it the more resistance it provides! So in theory, a really cool body armor idea would be something like this with 5 or 10 shingles tightly layered to slow and lessen the bigger stuff with a maybe 3mm to 5mm steel/Kevlar plate/sheet behind it for the smaller calibers. Really cool vid Matt, love your stuff! Hopefully you see this, as I think it'd be neat to see in action.

If you have a brain, know the 4 fundamental rules of shooting, and do not live in California, you will be just fine. Its not the firearms that cause incidents/accidents, its stupid people with firearms that do.
