It's not a miniature, it's a BIGATURE - Launceston Gasworks scale model

Here's my latest miniature, a 1/50 scale model of the Launceston Gasworks Vertical Retort building in Launceston, Tasmania. It is such a large building in real life that when I was determining a workable scale based on the size of the individual bricks, the completed miniature ended up being the largest scale model I've ever made. It's not a miniature, it's a BIGature!

Not sure if your a Pink Floyd fan but that building reminded me of the artwork for their Animals album, not to mention the “bricks in the wall”. Beautiful piece of work Dave.

Dave , WOW! that is an iconic building for sure. Fantastic job. If you're back in October I'll have two of my Dio's on display and a Collab build on display on the 21st at a model and toy expo in Prospect vale Tassie, of the Longford Viaduct and Pub corner and starting grid from the historic GP that was raced here in the early 60's. Agreed. I like to capture old buildings when the look derelict, but I like to know that they will still be with us for many more years.

Is there any way you could start posting more videos on KZbin please ? I have learned so much from your channel over the years and really appreciate all the time and trouble you took to do them. Even if they are only quick little 2 minute things showing a tip or trick, how to make a simple tool for doing a particular job, a painting trick, how to construct in a particularly awkward material, or how to create a certain texture on a model. Anything an experienced and gifted model maker like yourself can do to showcase any item or idea to people who are not as experienced or are new to the hobby is in reality like catching gold dust ! So please consider uploading content again on a more regular time line. It's more help than I think you realise.

What a magnificent model. While I enjoyed watching the video, I would have much preferred to see more of the tips and tricks and construction side of things as well, such as showing how you made the jointing pieces for the supporting girders, made the chimney, the painting, shading and weathering of things etc. You are obviously a highly skilled modeler, so please share your knowledge to those less experienced who want to learn. Otherwise, very interesting and entertaining.

Dave, mate. That was brilliant. There's a certain beauty to those structures, especially the one from the turn of the century and early 1900s. Not many an industrial building being modelled these days outside of some KZbin scale railway channels. It looks fantastic, well done. Cheers.
