Great tutorial. For added realism you can: Paint an address on the side of the can Lose one of the handles but leave the holder in place Crush the handle for the cover so it is flat to the cover I grew up with these abominations😁

They really should have started producing some WW2 stuff because realistically, you can't make a living just selling high end WW1 stuff. Not diversifying was a fatal decision.
@DavesModelWorkshopАй бұрын
When they began, it was a great point of difference that they only did WWI subjects, they really stood out from their competitors by doing that. I think they single-handedly caused a helluva lot of people to make WWI subjects who never would have otherwise. It seems they ran into taxation problems in NZ, and never quite recovered. WNW did have plans to start producing WWII subjects, like their famous Lancaster which was almost into production when they folded. Would they have survived if they had more WWII offerings? Who knows, it seems like there were never any problems with sales for their WWI kits, it might have been a more systemic problem than just the choice of subjects.

Hi Dave - any suggestions for bending in situ on the model. My error (bodge!) but I've got an engine nacelle on an aircraft and the already curved sections don't meet on the underneath. Bending together would solve but there's no way I can put this in hot water. I thought of using a hot air gun but its spread could be detrimental to too large an area.
@DavesModelWorkshop2 ай бұрын
Hi Conrad, that’s a tricky one. A hot air gun might be too powerful and just melt everything. Maybe a hair dryer might be less powerful, but I’d still worry it would uncontrollably warp or even worse melt the plastic… maybe build up the gap with putty instead?
@luisboni39162 ай бұрын

When they are dry what happens if your finger touches them?
@DavesModelWorkshop2 ай бұрын
I guess if your finger was oily it might leave a fingerprint, but it would wipe off. Once dry the polish is tough.

Very nice job, one comment though...wouldn't it be better to take the wing droop out by resting the wing tips on blocks and maybe even putting a temporary weight on fuselage to force wing tips up to neutral while rigging?

So many cuts. I used to do it more as a kid, when I had to use craft knife blades. These days I only use Swan & Morton surgical blades. (Made just a couple of miles from my house, here in Sheffield, UK.) I change blades frequently too. I still cut myself occasionally, but way less often.
