If you’ve seen a show Then you already know How magical theater can be It’s a two-hour, live-action, barely affordable, un-lip-synced version of “Glee“ So, this song goes out to the rest of you Those who’ve never seen theater before. Because Broadway has never been broader It’s not just for gays anymore! If you feel like someone that this world excludes It’s no Longer only for dudes who like dudes Attention every breeder Your invited to the theater It’s not just for gays anymore! The glamor of Broadway is beckoning straights The people who marry in all 50 states We’re asking every hetero to get to know us better-o It’s not just for gays anymore! It’s for fine, upstanding Christians who know all the song from Grease It’s for sober-minded businessman Who yearn for some release So, put down your Playboy and go make a plan To pick up a Playbill and feel like a man There’s so much to discover With your different-gendered lover It’s not just for gays The gays and the Jews And cousins in from out of town you have to amuse And the sad, embittered malcontents who write the reviews And also foreign tourists And the geeks of senior citizens And well-to-do suburbanites And liberal intellectuals Though that group is really only Jews and homosexuals I’ve lost my train of thought Oh yes, It’s not just for gays anymore! … We’ve got swarms of Mormons, showgirls, sailors, dancing boys and nuns Plus a Spider facing, death-defying, budget over-runs So, people from Red states, and people from Blue A big Broadway rainbow is waiting for you Come in and be inspired There’s no sodomy required Oh it’s not just for gays It’s not just for gays We'd be twice as proud to have you if you go both ways Broadway is not just for gays anymore!

You have to give the man props. It does not matter what label you put on him so long as one of them is humanitarian and another being an entertainer. @@octoxite I've never seen the second B before and can't place it with a word in my mind, but it's "Lesbian, Bisexual, ???, Transexual, Intersex, Queer". Though I never got why they included "queer" since that basically just means "not straight" and if you're going to add that into the abbreviation it may as well just be "Q". Personally I also don't understand why "Intersex" got included - are they a group of people who deserve recognition and acceptance? Yes, absolutely. Does that have anything to do with sexual orientation or the traditional gay culture? Not really. I get why transexual people are included - they're a group which has always sought, found and offered solidarity in the gay community even though gender identity is distinct from sexuality, but the majority of intersex people don't even know they're intersex. It kind of feels like we've just become the group that you shove anyone who's not a 'perfect' cisgender heterosexual into - if our group gets much broader it'll just be us vs the straight white people (maybe that's the gay agenda they're always going on about? Slowly include everyone else in our group until they're the minority that we all pick on? I'm not saying it's a bad plan).
@EmDoesNotExist3 жыл бұрын
@@aecides3203 hi, I just want to pick up on a few things you’ve said there! It’s not transsexual. It’s transgender, there is no transitioning in their sexuality - just gender. The second B was clearly a mistake. The full acronym is LGBTQIA+, but people mostly use LGBTQ+. The Q means queer for people who are questioning or do not fall under a specific label. It is not our place to begin questioning why certain identities that are not hurting anyone and have also received the same oppression as us should be in our community; that would just take away from the seemingly safe space we have created. I understand your comment was form a few months ago but just thought I’d add my 2p.

Wow!! That was absolutely brilliant. Only 5 years late in seeing it... doh!! Neil is so talented!!! A true showman! So why does he waste his time in How I Met Your Mother? The world needs to see his theatrical talents in full living color. I love how they pull the mormons into it. Perhaps thats what inspired Matt and Trey to create the Book Of Mormon Musical

Adam Goodword Book of Mormon went on Broadway March of 2011, when this was performed in June, so the song was referencing the show. They were already planning the musical in 2003 too
