I was a successful career women, traveling, managing people, making decisions. I enjoyed it (mostly) but it was also very stressful, and I often yearned to "just be a housewife." Now I'm retired and I get to do everything that I love every single day. I meal plan to my heart's content, I cook, I bake, I read, I walk. All "boring" things to many people, I guess, but I absolutely adore it. I'm not bored, I'm content, and now that I'm older, I realize that contentment (which is calm and lasting) is far better than "happiness", which tends to be a fleeting high.

Im 60 and I feel like I want to retire, did you wait to 65 ?
@christinaoldham66143 жыл бұрын
@@cherylkeller5181 No, I happened to get laid off right before I turned 59, and I took that "hint" to retire. I had no interest to reenter my industry (which is not doing well), and also no motivation to learn a whole new business, so retirement it was. Now we're frugal but very, very happy. I've never regretted that decision. We had enough savings so hopefully I can wait until age 70 to max out Social Security benefits. It's all such a fine balance....

I love your videos so much! I adore them *because* of your simplicity and confidence and beautiful set of routines…”boring” is awesome in my opinion! There are so many pressures and things competing for our attention in this life: do this, buy that, be seen here, make sure you go there…it never ends! I look forward to tuning in to your channel twice a week because it feels like a chill hangout with a great friend and it reminds me that being content with my current life, my things and my routines is ok!

I'm the epitome of boring! So many people are looking for the next adrenaline rush through some expensive activity or new thing to buy. I used to be this way. I'm learning to enjoy the simple life, simple things, and just being quiet. Like just walking my dog is enjoyable now. I think the big 'influencers' (on Instagram especially) have caused so many to buy more than they need, and to be be dissatisfied with their lives. Thank you for being real and relatable! So many I started watching become totally non-relatable.

Thank you for the validation in choosing a simpler life. While I interpret the word boring to be a negative here, I choose the word simple to reflect a routined, quiet life which I find grounding and a true reflection of my true self. Especially during the pandemic, I realized that my routine may be construed as uninteresting or bland by another but I realized I was okay with or didn't really care if someone else might think that about the way I live my life because it is just that: My life. I appreciate your self confidence and matter-of-factness. ☀

There is so much beauty in simplicity! I think that’s the point of minimalism. I feel the best when I have calm days where I get to focus on hobbies, spending time with family, catching up on chores etc. I like to have adventures and travel but I couldn’t see myself enjoying that all the time. A few times a year is enough for me, the rest of the time, I like to be boring 😁

I have always had a life full of adventures and every day was different. People always were impressed with my "strong personality", but what they didn't see, was that I was just trying to run away from home where I didn't feel safe. I struggled a lot. The only thing I wanted for myself was a quiet and safe place to live. Thankfully, after years of only trying to survive day by day, I found this place, at the beggining of the pandemic. I let myself do nothing now. I really do nothing. These are the happiest days of my life, even if I don't hear "wows" every day from random people. I don't care about other's attention, never really did. For me, peace and simplicity are so much more valuable than adrenaline and "being uniqe". I'm sure, I'm boring for everyone that knows me superficially, but I don't care. I have much to say, if only someone is willing to listen. Love you, for your common sense

Hi Lia. If you ask lots of people what they would really like their life look like when they are working full time, paying mortgage /rent, bringing up children, and other responsibilities ( maybe elderly parents, Club or social commitments, Church life ) they would say more time at home, time to eat and enjoy meals, taking walks in a calm or pretty place, good nights sleep, cooking from scratch.......is this sounding familiar😊 There is absolutely nothing boring about that. It is what many people aspire to . I know I definitely did. Friends too. Carry on being absolutely you.

@@stepahead5944 because American media says you need to be the greatest you need to be a super hero you need to always strive for more and always do exciting things. Very few American stories are about the mundane most are about the extraordinary.

I really don’t get this boring label because of some superficial practices. A life is only dull when you don’t know how to appreciate or you don’t like people. So I’m not really ever bored and calling someone boring only sheds truth on the person saying it not on the subject.

But when I'm not in a project, I enjoy the everyday, boring life and simple things like watching animals in my yard. Ok real question, no shade, because i tend to ponder about these type of questions. By Living a 'boring' life, does that mean you stick too much in your comfort zone and miss out on real life enriching experiences? On your deathbed, will you look back and wish that you did do more? That maybe unconsciously being boring is an escape from puttting effort into reaching out to others more? No shade, honestly wanting opinions
