Trigger warning: 4:24 mentions of food/lists types of food
Silver talks about how it is a very common experience to not know who's fronting in dissociative identity disorder / OSDD-1b. It's ok to exist not knowing, as multiple people, or just as a collective plural blob. Take care of yourselves in this rough time ❤️

Haha! I was trying to think of a good synonym for "tumultuous" because we cannot pronounce that word! We ended up with "in flux" (suggestion from our girlfriend!) but "tossed like salad" was in the middle there haha :)

as a fairly new system and one that was very covert prior to the Realisation TM, this video is really validating for us. it's so hard to untangle everything when the alters are so used to pretending to be the host, it feels like sometimes even they forget their own likes and preferences versus the host's. we pretty much exist in an existential confusion 24/7 these days. so thanks so much for this!

Most of the time we don’t know who’s fronting or if/when we switched. Usually there are 2+ co-con at once so the only time we can truly, definitively say who is fronting is when only 1 person is fronting

We never know who's fronting after we wake up. We go through this 20-80 minutes period of "who tf am I" every morning. I don't know if it's because being tired and being dissociative feels kinda similar or if being tired makes us dissociate (and therefore feels similar for us).

This is my experience exactly. I think sometimes i can recall who i am much later in the day as we're doing something, and i notice our body language, or some sort of visual indication (like a specific number) will call out and remind us who we are in that moment...

I honestly only have one villager that I dress like whoever is fronting at the time. We're a relatively small system so I have a room in my house for each alter. I couldnt imagine having a separate house for each person... our island would be so cluttered 😱
@BlueHazyDreams
@BlueHazyDreams 4 жыл бұрын
@@alis4681 Yeah, this is what we do. I'd rather be making progress on only one save file on any game, don't have enough time with work to play multiple files and actually make progress on my game backlog. Also helps that only three parts in my system are interested in playing Animal Crossing, me, one that is struggling right now and prefers to be on the inside unless she's with our SO, and a little who usually is only around because her abandonment issues have been triggered, so sometimes someone will play with her co-con to help soothe her and we'll let her pick out what she wants to wear and do. Last time she played it was raining so she put together a rain outfit with the polka dot raincoat and it was precious.

We’re a polyfragmented system who’s currently undergoing mass integration/fusion, and so this is a state we’re in often (especially recently). This is so interesting! Times of stress are actually the times we're most likely to be clear on who is fronting, since we each have different coping mechanisms and things that upset us. It's when nothing much is going on that it's really hard to tell if it's one or both of us, and when we're upset or animated about something that it becomes obvious.

Thank you for this! I've often doubted our validity as a system because it's often unclear who's fronting. We're new to realizing that we're multiple and learning to work together as a system, but every time we haven't known who was fronting, I've found myself thinking "well, if we have DID/OSDD, shouldn't it be clear who's who?" I think this is actually the first video I've seen that's talked about not always knowing and it's extremely validating to know that I'm not alone, so thank you so much!!

I literally have thought the same thing. This past year we’ve removed ourselves from a lot of toxic situations and habits, and so is alters haven’t been as defined as we usually are. I started wondering if we were integrating?? Which is something we don’t want to do! I also started wondering if maybe I was just making everything up...which I’m definitely not! Good luck on your journey of self discovery and mental health! You are definitely not alone

first off: I love that you are taking the time to heart every comment and reply to most Second off: this reminded me of something that happened before lock down: Around the time we were finding it hard to tell who is front and somehow coincidentally we have who are alike the characters we had to play for drama in 2 plays back to back they both switched in before the performance so my drama teacher congratulated me on being able to do those two acts so perfectly and that what confidence I had to dress and act like a girl and bla bla it was such a good performance I should stay in drama next year, I just thought that the fact a teacher asking me to please stay in her class was nice lol. Third off: We finally found a good system name (the invisible system) because we first communicated with invisible pen on the walls. Goodbye and thanks for the video! - Will (the invisible system)

I have a friend who will ask me ‘who am I talking to’? Like you said, sometimes I don’t know. I am going through a sort of self identity crisis. Questioning if I. as the host/personalty really exists, or if I have always been a blend of my alters. When I had my major breakdown, before and after I was diagnosed I would have what I called snow storms, when I felt all my alters were trying to front at the same time and get my attention. It was horrible and created much suffering. Since I started accepting, rather than rejecting and trying to ‘get rid of’ of my alters things have been much better. I now express gratitude to them as they got me through traumatic times and enabled me to function.

Yeah! We love metaphors like that. Our personal favorite is "which branch is the real tree?" because no branch is more important than another! We love the life and growth imagery, and the extended metaphor in how trees are so varied! Some trees have thin, close together branches that form a bush like appearance, some have a few strong branches that stand as individuals... ect!

For checking in with yourself, music helps us a lot since it's a lifelong interest most if not all of my system shares. When a part is clearly fronting I like to encourage them to make or maintain a Spotify playlist for themselves. Sometimes we can't tell who is fronting or co-con but we identify strongly with (or are repulsed by) a certain artist/genre/song and that can help us realize who might be there. Playlists also double as tools to help a specific part switch in or stay fronting/grounded if needed, doesn't always work but we've found a lot of success with it.

Thank you so much for putting this into words. When I first started trying to accept that we're a system I often felt really invalid when I experienced blending with others or we were all "tossed like a salad." I felt like if I couldn't tell which one of us was fronting or where others were in relation to me fronting I was somehow less valid. I felt like I needed to always fully understand what was going on and it felt like failure when I couldn't. It's interestingly similar to how when I first started realizing I'm not cishet I felt like I needed to know exactly what labels fit, but none of the ones I was aware of at the time did, so I felt like I didn't fit into any community fully and I felt invalid. The beautiful thing about both of these things is, after realizing I'm not alone in these experiences, I didn't have to feel invalid anymore! ❤ -Millie

Thank you! We have such an imposter syndrome because very often we don't know who's fronting. In fact, we only had one experience when we felt like 2 people rapidly switching and having a real dialogue inside our head, and it felt really scary (that's when we started researching it and learned about DID/OSDD). But most of the time we feel like one person, sometimes we know clearly which one it is, but sometimes it's just a mix.. Interesting thing happens when we're in a friend group and depending what we're talking about, our articulation and melody switches, and emotional memories come and go. It's really interesting.

I thought that made us invalid to be honest. Like ok, we are just making switches up because I don't know who is the alter fronting, sometimes feeling, yeah maybe we didn't switch. Maybe it's all in our mind and actually we are faking switches, when we switch we feel these chills in all our bodies, in my perspective is on my legs but some feel it in their arms and face, we also have like those headaches that are super hurtful but go on really fast after and while switching. We felt invalid because sometimes when we feel we switch I say like "is this me?" "Is this Alex" or even sometimes I feel like I'm someone but I'm not

We felt the same!! Our alters are our proof that we have DID...so if the alters aren’t distinguishable, then it’s so easy to doubt myself!!

We really appreciate videos that explain things such as this. This has been a problem we've dealt with for a while. As sometimes is very hard to tell who is at the front of not. Especially when switches can happen so randomly for us. At the end of the day we can reassure each other that we are real and that we have a right to exist freely as ourselves. Just so many people have so many opinions about what experience really counts or not. It's thanks to you and a few other Osdd-1b related channels we even found out about all of this in the first place, our lives are much better now that we communicate and work together to get through each day. So thank you Thank you all for providing such useful and helpful information for systems like us who struggle at times like this.

I’ve just found your channel as I’m questioning the possibility of an OSDD dx. I just want to tell you, your videos are fantastic!! You have a seriously impressive way with explaining and describing things. You have helped me to put words to some experiences I did not know how to describe, and you helped me understand concepts that I was unclear on. You have a great skill with explanation and teaching. Thanks!

Thank you for the new video! We're a very new system so we're still confused on a lot of things lol. Is it normal to feel like you're acting sometimes when an alter fronts? We've struggled with that. 💕

Somtimes, it's a common experience for hosts to not really leave co-consciousness, or always be some level of co-conscious. As the Alexandrite system once said, "Sometimes... you don't really leave when someone else fronts." We recommend checking out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4DNdJ2qhL18oqM

This is wonderfully helpful, since our [undiagnosed] system experiences a lot of this, especially with alters and fragments that have a distain towards identification, and just want to do what they do without playing 20 questions and "being interrogated" as some have put it. We don't want the system to be a dictatorship, but it's hard for a lot of alters who are /known/ to understand why they'd want to stay faceless. [with aphantasia it's all the more harder to visibly see each other in headspace without the memory of who is fronting] It's nice to just know to also just ask what sorts of stuff they like and approach it gentler. I have.... ugh, I know this is so weird, but my system we don't really have persecutors, but I call them aggressors instead? Idk if others would be mad at me for that shift, but they tend to just go for anyone out of place or making problems, not just a singular like a persecutor is seemingly defined to. Thank you for this video and your channel. - Pandora's Box System

Of course! Sometimes folks just aren't ready to be known yet! It's like that quote... "the mortifying ideal of being known" or "I wish to not be perceived". Sometimes it takes a little bit for folks to feel comfortable being part of the system and existing as themselves! Be gentle and slow with them, and I'm sure it'll all work out ❤️

Hey, I like you more and more)) You released video about one more problem we are facing. If an alter doesn't know who he is, he gets stressed, sometimes he can start to panic. In that case other alters (mainly, Consultant) try to calm him and ask helpful questions like "What are your gender? What do you like?" and others. Sometimes it helps... We call this "Incomplete Identification In The Body" or simply IIIB (if I translate it in English) Thank you very much for your activity!))

Hey, i just discovered your channel. I'm not diagnosed, but i identify with almost everything in Osdd. I have a question, almost all of my alters are persecutors, and we have just one caretaker/protector trying to "fix" or control the others. I know this is really bad, my head is a constant caos, what should i do?
@TheRingsSystem
@TheRingsSystem 4 жыл бұрын
We're not a professional, and even if we were, we couldn't tell you what to do. However, my advice in a lot of situations is to simply reach out to your alters, talk to them about things, and extend warmth and love to them. You guys are stuck together whether you like it or not, and bridging that gap and building relationships is important.

We would love to watch your videos, unfortunately after five minutes we get dizzy, we don't feel well. Don't know why, we probably don't like the topic of DID / OSDD. At the same time, at least as far as I know, we are curious to learn new things. So, it's kind of confusing... I like your videos, you're so nice. Keep it up! (sorry for our bad english)

i've just recently discovered we're a system, and whenever we switch it's very hard to tell who's who. we have one alter, web, who gets very confused and scared when another alter is trying to front, and so our caretaker isaac always has to step in to calm him down.
