It's Oncidium Orchids season! - Blooms, buds and lots of spikes!

I love oncidiums too. You could have a hugely varied orchid collection just with these! When I first started growing them I was used to phals so I was definitely not watering enough. When I had them in bark the media would break down quickly. I have them all in semi hydro now and they absolutely love it.

Good to see your Oncidium collection bouncing back Danny! It was because of your original collection that I got inspired to grow orchids again, I have so many Oncidium hybrids now in my greenhouse they are my favourites too :)

Purchased mine in bloom. The extra Spike just bloomed after the old faded. These are easier to grow in AZ. LOVE the variety of flower and color choices. Waiting for end of season sales to pick up a few more, great buys in the grocery stores.

I want one so badly... but I'm so scared I won't be able to give it the light it needs. I have a sunroom, but it's a tad cold in the winter. Trying to balance out the pros and cons. I have 2 phals under grow lights and it seems I'm barely able to give them what they need. I feel like the places in my home in which it would thrive, are the places I'm in the least. I want to enjoy the fragrance. Maybe I need to make my office a little more enjoyable with one of these lovely plants.

i also have a twinkle. the red one. and i managed to break the tip of the flower spike. after 2 months of it developing. i'm not mad or anything because i didn't realise how easily you can break them. oh well. at least it branched out :)

Hey Danny, I recently bought a white phalaenopsis and i thought it was a miniature sogo yukidian but it was an amabilis..stores dont do a great job labeling their orchids, they just labeled it as a phalaenopsis, do you know if my amabilis will grow as big or flower as much as a sogo yukidian?

Hi, Danny! Thanks for a such informative video. I can't say that Twinkle is lazy. Mine was in full bloom last spring, now it is producing new spikes :)) But there is an interesting moment: new bulbs are quite smaller then old ones. Is it o.k.?
