I didn't realize how important chord inversions are, especially in swing guitar, until your lessons Damian. The G#9th to Gmaj7th ending is really nice. After 20+ yrs of playing, I'm learning all these new chord shapes, persistence! - Joe in CT

Love that tune. First heard the Nat Cole Trio do it. (Loved that group.) It's a good one to sing. I like a lot of Harold Arlen tunes and this is one of the better known ones but there are many others: Stormy Weather, I Got A Right To Sing The Blues, Get Happy, One For My Baby and One More For The Road, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea...

Great version. Thanks for creating and posting this. It would be nice to have a pdf of the chord changes, however. It's a little difficult to learn the song by watching the video and pausing now and then to find the chord on the guitar neck.

The chord charts show "X"s, which usually means "do not play that string". In this case, does that mean "open string"? Thank you!
@Damianblf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christine. The X on the chord diagrams in the video means that you “mute” or don't play that particular string. Thank you for watching the lesson.

That sounds great, Damian! I've been enjoying your recent Western Swing vids and the examples that you've provided have been quick and easy to learn.This is the first time I've ever tried playing anything even the slightest bit jazz-like, so it's been great for expanding the repertoire if for nothing else than to turn a few heads at the local Guitar Center.
