You have a knack for making these videos. Although I only recently discovered them, I have enjoyed them very much. The scenery, your choice of background music, you sharing your thoughts, travel destinations, finding food, trying to stay clean, etc. You have a sweet, friendly and endearing disposition which draws people in. I hope you travel some more and make more videos. Don’t be a stranger.❤️

I have enjoyed every mile right along with you. I'm like everyone else, the thought of it over is sad!! It's a really good idea to car camp around your area, it will help your wanderlust and keep people happy too. It's a goal for the future to get a van. I listened to you saying the time taken up finding toilets and food places, if you had a van you can easily cook in it and have a mini fridge, plus a small toilet room or a pull out one, no worries about grubby public toilets then. Thanks for the laughs and realness, you're a gem!! Xxxx

Maggie, thank you so much, and thanks for coming along for the ride! Yes, a self-contained van would make some things easier, but I'd still be figuring out where to park, dump, get water, showers, groceries and laundry, but you're right, it would be easier in many ways.

Yes, I am certainly looking at that. But I need an AWD under 100 inches high so that I can make it up the snowy hill to my carport and park it there in the winter. So I'll have to go with a low roof.

@@dianeschmiane Check out the Chrysler Pacifica. They offer awd and are very adaptable since both the second and third row seats can stow into the floor. Just avoid the plug-in hybrid model which has powertrain issues in particular. Chrysler starting offering awd in late 2020 models under the previous body style. Newer models has updated front and back designs but otherwise pretty much the same. I have the 2019 pacifica and love the flexibility of the stowaway seats and has been reliable 40K in. Good luck!!

Hello I’m Canadian and live in Ontario by Lake Huron. I drove out East with my 12 year old grandson in 2021. We had such a great time. We stayed in hotels along the way but that was the farthest I ever drove on my own, without my husband and second driver. I loved it. I wanted to drive out West last summer. I made my car into a car camper and have all the gear but I chickened out. We don’t have as many places to car camp here I don’t think and being alone scared me. I really want to try it though. It would be a month long trip since it was take about 10 days to get to Vancouver since I would not drive too many kilometres each day, in fact since I want to sight see I would probably take 2 weeks and be gradual and then 2 weeks there and 2 weeks back so it would be a big trip. I have my husband but I am retired and he is not. He is okay to be home so no problem in going but fear. Good for you doing this.
@dianeschmiane Жыл бұрын
Tanya, that sounds like an AWESOME trip, just do it! Stay someplace overnight near home to gain confidence, a highway rest stop, a truck stop, some provincial park nearby... just one night will improve your comfort level, and the more you do it, the more you get used to it... :)

I’m in similar position - nomadic soul but a demanding 89yo mother, a somewhat needy 31yo daughter, a toyboy who still needs to work. I also am stuck in a beautiful city. My suggestions for what they are worth - 1. do night urban hikes - pick a part of the city well lit -with a bit of water & some old world city charm - approx 15km round trip back to your parked car. Finish when just turning dark and make a hot drink from the back of your car and drive home content. 2. All Day hikes 20km plus with a good book and picnic - one day per week 3. Every second weekend - go away for 2 nights Every 2-3 months - road trip for 7 days Then once a year 4-6weeks full time travel

Any winter car camping trip in mind? RTR Quartzsite is from 1/13 to 1/20. I kind of want to check it out (I drove by Quartzsite last September but no stopping). AZ winter is not going to have snow storm and icy roads.

Hey, neighbor! If they're the white ones, my ex-assistant gave them to me years ago, but if they're the red ones, I bought them at an art festival in Mammoth and they were made by an artist somewhere around Auburn, so, close to you!

Up front disclaimer...this is gonna ramble a bit. I just finished binge watching your videos of this trip, and I just feel like I've got a new friend. I feel that we are sort of kindred spirits. There are so many similarities in our lives. I've got the wanderlust, and my husband doesn't like to travel at all. We both have kids that have made choices that just sort of knock the breath out of us sometimes. Are you on instagram? I looked, and couldn't find you. I'd much rather DM you there than ramble here. Anyway, you are so fortunate to live where you do, near beautiful country and mountains. I'm way out in the desert of west Texas where I have to drive a minimum of three hours to get to any mountains at all. I'd love to take a trip like you just completed here, and now I'm thinking really hard about doing it. You've truly inspired me. Like you, I've got the hubby to think about. It's hard sometimes. You spoke in some of your videos about how you have to support him. I agree, we do have to support our spouses, but they, in turn, must support us as well. They worry about us. I know they do. But we're big girls. We can take care of ourselves most of the time. I've actually had some bad things happen to me when traveling alone. One was a very serious injury where I broke my ankle, and he had to travel across the state to rescue me. I've never been so glad to see anyone in my entire life. My knight in shining armor. I wish I could say that was a good story, but it wasn't. I just tripped over my shoes in a hotel room. (insert huge eye roll here) So I get it that he worries. I've done a lot of camping alone, and I love it. I plan to continue to do so for as long as I can. I'm older than you (65), but theres a lot of spunk still left in me. I feel my own mortality, just as you do. We are that age now. So, it's time to get out there and do what we need to do, and see what we need to see before we can't, right? I've loved every one of your videos. You are so genuine, goofy and engaging. I can't wait to continue following your adventures. I would love to start a conversation with you. I hope that's not too creepy. Oh, and your editing skills are truly top notch.
@dianeschmiane Жыл бұрын
Beverly, soooo nice to meet you, and three words... Take. The. Trip. So what if he had to rescue you last time? It makes a great story. And the odds are it won't happen again. You're right, spouses support each other, and it's your life, and you need to live it while you still can. I do have an instagram account but I hardly ever use it, this is where I hang out online. I should do a livestream sometime, then I can talk to everybody! And in Quartzite I met ladies in their late sixties and seventies doing solo travel, so you can too. Do it, do it, do it! And thanks for bingeing, that's awesome!!

You certainly can camp all around Tahoe- there are so many places to explore. Hiking, car camping, backpacking - as I’ve said before, its not so much what you film as how you film it. I think exploring little backwoods towns would be interesting, too.

She made it as far as Truckee in 2016, then switched to the Lost Coast Trail, so never made it Oregon. Thank you for being a trail angel, you folks are da bomb, truly, truly angels on earth... :) She did volunteer on some farms in Oregon after that and worked some of the farmer's markets. Maybe you saw her there?
