I'm a millennial. I mostly agree with Aaron Clarey. You must understand though, millennials have been brainwashed by teachers, guidance counselors, and their parents to get college degrees that lead to 12-20 dollar an hour dead end jobs (that don't require degrees). Even the stem degrees you praise so much Clarey are often worthless. Horrible job market, huge college debts to pay, wages that haven't been increasing in 30 years to keep up with colas. Automation, outsourcing, technology, destroying the labor market.
@jamesr57415 жыл бұрын
On point! It's all good to blame a particular generation that did this or that, but really it's the Mainstream that leads society that has confused and distorted what people believe and hence how they make their future plans. Most people want to be a good citizen and make something of themselves, but because their is so many corrupt agendas out there it really ends in a lot of disappointment UNLESS you are setup with rich folks or have someone like Cappy as your role model on-hand from a young age.
@Patrick23454545 жыл бұрын
The reason why wages have been stagnant is women (and low-skill immigrants) entering the workplace and driving down the cost of labor. I doubt Aaron Clarey will ever say it flat-out, but if the wages of the American worker are to catch up to the current cost of living, women need to leave college and the workplace, and people from other countries need to go home after they make money and learn skills in America. I know it sounds rough, but it's going to happen anyway once the system collapses.

@The Snow Nigro I came to laugh at the irony of the guy with a Hitler pic talking about PC and Nazis. I stayed to say.. what the actual fuck are you, then? If you don't like commies, non-classical I'm assuming liberals, Jews or conservatives and capitalists... I doubt you're a true anarchist, or you wouldn't shame someone for having their own opinion. Must be some odd fragment of conservative, and I acknowledge and have had that discussion with a NatSoc before, since they tend to put their nationalism first and the socialism - communism's sibling from 'papa Marxism' - second. Also apply it in a proper way, it seems, though they only had one shot and while they did eco-boom and rebuild... royally fucked up their occultism and still played into things. Then again I'm well aware Churchill, most US Presidents, Stalin and Hitler were all very high ranking Freemasons and the Lodge too, comes first. Yet still most of the Frankists are also Jews if you want to go there. Also, no, I'm not a dying breed. Try pissing me off, I might go sow so many wild oats you'll have Generation A being full of sub-genius gingers with penchants for playing with chemicals and weapons. But mainly I am curious where that stream of thought comes from. Also Nazi is just a shortened term, by all those rallies in the big cities, Hitler wasn't that loathed except by Antifa and commies in his country. Politics being what they are in a post-WW country in ruins who also had a lot of caps put on them when they lost that war prior bound by the L.o.Nations alliance pacts.

For a guy who is fortunate, thank god I stayed out of debt, drove the same used car for 7 years, saved up emergency funds, having a balance that increases over time. There's hope for retirement for people who can at least be out debt by 30 even with a regular $15 an hour job depending on your monthly expenses. I would of never thought of minimalism if it weren't for Aaron Clarey. Thank you for Bachelor's Pad Economics and Poor Richard's Retirement.

I am a millennial myself born in 1990 and even though life has dealt me a bad hand like it does everybody else, I will take responsibility for myself and work through my emotional trauma to realize my dearest ambitions. I don't have any friends and I have a very bad relationship with family members and parents - both of whom are Boomers, my Dad being a walking stereotype of a narcissistic Baby Boomer. Even though I am as millennial as much of my generation, I have done my very best to appeal to the better selves of peers from my generation, but, a lot of them ignore me and take me for granted; I have no need to take revenge on them because sooner or later, they will face the consequences of their actions and none of us can elude fate. I have a slight feeling the generation after mine will do a lot better than my generation; I truly hope they will make more of an effort to listen to wisdom and keep an open mind. Boomer, Gen X, Millennial, Gen Z, we all have to work together to achieve legendary feats that are unfathomable for a single human mind to imagine; before we work with each other, everyone of us has to work on our own individual selves to get to know the limitless potential sleeping inside of us.

Im constantly amazed by people skipping over or throwing shade on GenX, but its understandable. The Boomers robbed GenX of their chance at greatness by sticking around too long in power and position, and by moving the goal posts every chance they got, then blaming GenX for their failure to succeed. They parasitized their own children, basically. GenX got the shaft more than any other generation in that they were given values that only worked for their parents. As the social and economic landscape changed, they couldn't adapt fast enough. Some few did very well, but for the most part there is a reason GenX is sometimes called the forgotten generation. GenX didn't vote predominantly democrat. Young people did. As GenX aged, they started voting more conservative as well. But their Boomer parents started voting more Democrat, and that was to make sure they got their checks. The famous quote "keep your government hands off of my Medicare" is emblematic of this. That was a freaking Tea Party sign, amazingly... these qwere supposed conservatives... obviously, they were not. Then, Millenials came along into an Internet enabled world and got confused. There was no value system in place that could prepare them for it, and so they flailed around and fucked up. If GenX did anything, it built the Internet from nearly nothing, in an effort to create a new thing that would push the needle. Which I would say is a goddamned miracle. But.. of course.. they don't get credit for that either. Millenials took advantage of it, but GenX built it. Boomers were sitting in their offices believing that the phone book would be around forever while GenX was quietly altering the fabric of reality around them. And Boomers just swooped in, as they always do, and took credit for it, grabbed all the money, and exited stage left. It's a clusterfuck. But now Boomers are dying off at record speed, and GenX is finally, in their 40s and 50s, being allowed to take over, even while being forced to compete with MIllenials for the same jobs, which is, quite frankly, retarded but.. that's what we have.

The AlienRobotAnthropologist- I’m genX and I tell my daughter exactly what you said, constantly. It’s really important, if we want to maintain any credibility with our kids, to ADMIT the truth that we DID start our adult life in a MUCH better situation than the millennials. I was raised in, and continue to live in, one of the most expensive Southern California zip codes, and I clearly remember, as an 18-year old, being able to get a $4.25/hr minimum wage job by LYING about my (not) having a high school diploma, and by just having a PULSE, and BEING ABLE TO PAY RENT HERE with a 40-hour work week at that job. They got absolutely screwed. So if you want them to listen to you when you tutor them on how to rise above their crappy situation that WE handed them, you better establish communication and credibility by LISTENING to them and ACKNOWLEDGING the fact that WE DIDN’T RISE UP AND STOP THE BOOMERS, because WE ONLY CARED ABOUT HANGING ONTO, and USING UP the pathetic SCRAPS that the boomers left US.

Try being a Xennial....you admire your parents for their hard work ethic and what they instilled in you, and at the same time you cant understand why the younger generation feel like they "deserve" anything. We experienced rotary phones, writing letters to our friends, and saw all of that disappear while we adapted to new technology. We have an appreciation for what we have because of our experience from whence we came. These friggin millennials were literally handed everything on an easy-platter, and have nothing to complain about except for things that they have no point-of-reference on because they havent suffered for shit. The thing that sucks the worst is that I have no idea who to blame. I don't think Xennials that were raised properly would raise whiney-ass kids who feel entitled to everything. So, whats left but to solve the problem? How? Take the phones away. No more fake news. Go outside, get lost, get your ass kicked, do some chores, pick up an encyclopedia for christ sake. Have some appreciation for the things that youve been handed since day one, by not having those things for a while. LEARN how not to be such a whiny bitch. 1. Auschwitz was a small Camp 2. Birkenau Auschwitz's sister camp was the largest Camp. 3. Auschwitz and Birkenau were part of a collection of camps, dozens of large and small camps dotted around the area most of which used for labor in local factories. 4. The Death Toll contributed to Auschwitz is collectively from all those camps, most of which from Birkenau. ie not one camp. It's often generalized spoken about as a singular camp to make it sound that much more horrific. 5. Some argue the Death Toll of 1.1-1.3 million is grossly exaggerated, it was originally 4-5 million up until the 1990s for example when it was revised after it was a technical impossibility for those camps to have killed that many people, it was dropped to 1.1-1.3 with a Question Mark.

Being a millennial myself I am disgusted with my generation whom mostly lack independent/ critical thinking, can't debate without using your typical buzzwords, always wants to shut down opposite views that uses facts/ logic, they lack any self responsibility, lack any long term goals, are lazy, want a reward for doing hardly any work, have chosen to study unless subjects that mostly have the word studies at the end of them, have no idea how the real world works and most annoyingly them having a victim hood mindset. I think you all get it, some individuals just need a reality check that "The world is not meant to be fair and it owes you nothing, you need to earn your place in this world." I am so glad I had parents who taught the value of a good hard days work/ ethic, but also being raised with this simple saying, "Good manors and common sense don't cost anything but they go a long way."

As I said before their are some useful subjects with the word studies at the end of them, but sadly they are in the minority now due to the over use of the word "studies" at the end of useless degrees/ courses.

The point of the exercise is to demonstrate how in denial the entire generation is. There's no angle or way to get through to millennials. None. They refuse to argue fairly because they were spoiled as kids are were never trained or forced to. Most generations change as they age. Millennials are the exception. Their refusal to grow up/change and accept reality has permeated all levels of politics and corporations which has led to the overall destruction of the country making the rest of us miserable because we have to deal with a loss of freedom because of your generations parasitic and selfish thinking. Sadly most people who grew up in tough or "unfair" scenarios who made something of themselves because they made a personal choice to come to reality with a fair self appraisal of one's skills, will, and desire. followed by conscious decision making to change the trajectory towards one of financial and emotional independence; Not your generation. Millenials have chosen to re-entrench themselves as kicking and screaming adult children for whom the politicians on the left/dem side all pander to by taking away freedoms for the rest of us via wealth redistribution thus reinforcing further demands (just look at all the "walk outs" where millenials give lists of demands with zero leverage). Millenials are actually the qualitatively and quantitatively the least intelligent as well as willfully ignorant generation because they continue to CHOOSE to vote AGAINST their own best self interest. Millenials represent the lowest common denominator when it comes to maximizing the gift of life. It's a sad waste, and like the older feminist women who have 6 cats are are alone, they've CHOSEN this path, all the while living under a scapegoat of blame ______ (spin the wheel: who are we blaming this week: Trump? Russia? Co2? Dubya? micro aggressions? triggered? toxic... Patriarchy!!! hahaha). So that's the point of his book, to illustrate that Millenials have dug their own grave from a moral perspective yet have decided to act as if they're somehow not responsible for their poor choices, I forgot, it's ______ fault (fill in the blank, anyone but themselves). Millenials will continue to purposefully make poor life choices as a means to self sabotage so they can continue the "I'm a victim because...." narrative. Their whole identity is one of a complete lie, and one that's book worthy entertainment for the rest of us that chose to adapt, grow up and accept that life isn't fair but sometimes what we're most proud of is how we choose to adapt, strive, acheive and go through some pain to become stronger wiser happier individuals. Not millenials. They only have a stay of execution until China dumps US Treasuries in mass, then you're all screwed.

07wrxtr1 wow bravo. I think you should post that on the regular part. And the stay of execution part was poignant. It’s why I keep my technology dependency low and always learn how to fix things. These younger dips couldn’t handle shit for adversity

@@07wrxtr1 So we're not allowed to blame anyone but ourselves? Our fault that housing has exploded in price while wages have remained stagnant? The productivity of our economy has exploded yet earnings haven't increased anywhere near as much, this is a trend that has been consistent since the 80s. You're making some pretty big generalizations about millenials, and yeah we are kind of fucked when the economy enters the recession we're projected to be facing (primarily because people are living paycheck to paycheck, and housing is out of reach for your average consumer) "Their refusal to grow up/change and accept reality has permeated all levels of politics and corporations which has led to the overall destruction of the country making the rest of us miserable because we have to deal with a loss of freedom because of your generations parasitic and selfish thinking" I'm honestly not sure how to unpack that statement, what freedoms did we take from you? how did we destroy the country? Kind of hard for someone earning poverty wages who's completely disconnected from politics to have any impactful effect on your life, do you not think the corporations who lobby politicians have more of an impact on our political system?

I Agree! I served in the Marine Corps, graduated from college, traveled the world, and believe it or not, im a millennial... but im soooo alone. I have almost no friends my age. I think they're all fucking morons. I can think of about 1 or 2 people my age I can have a deep intellectual conversation with. everyday I try to improve myself, workout, learn something new, prep for the future, but what are my friends doing... partying and drinking and farting around. I feel so isolated

As an enlightened Millennial i never would have adopted minimalism, person finance goals, or seen the error of leftist thinking enough to become a moderate. I personally blame my parents and the parents of my gen. If it wasnt for the internet and the day i typed into youtube, "Why do all jobs suck" I wouldnt have found Aaron's vids. I would have knocked up a chick off of pof, enrolled in an out of state university for social services, voted left without thinking about how that affects my future, and probably bought a new car. Rant over. Thank God for Aaron Clarey's wisdom.

Agreed. You have to honestly assess yourself and then take action to repair the damage you've done to yourself and your situation. And the longer you hold off on even admitting your problem, the harder and more expensive the damage will be to repair. And, of course like an engine running without oil or antifreeze, the longer you wait, the more damage will be done until it is irreparable. And people aren't like engines or cars. You can't exactly go down the street and buy new parts. But we've been told our whole lives, "there's nothing wrong with you, you're beautiful the way you are"....yadda yadda yadda. BS! Living life is about making mistakes, learning something from them and improving yourself and your situation and try not to repeat your mistakes. At this point, millennials are in our mid 30s and are fast approaching the point where we've wasted too much time....as in, YEARS and for some, decades! We want everything to be fun or easy, "engaging" and interesting. That's not how things are. Life sucks. It's boring, monotonous, you dont get paid enough, people make messes you have to clean up....that's life! Freaking deal with it!

I suppose it was foolish to come here looking for a solution when they tell you its over. I might as well listen to them, they know whats up. Glad I never went to college and racked up debt. Yes, I do still live at home with my boomer father. work 2 part time jobs but i get paid 25$ an hour for one of those which is nice. Starting to get a lot of money saved up. Not too bad for a first gen male millenial (1984). Along with no kids. I don't vote either. As far as I'm concerned the world can go to hell, which it is.

With the way things are economically in general, especially with how we are now approaching what the MSM is considering a "slowdown" we have many debt bubbles around us that will become unsustainable and will pop once people start to lose their jobs. Just as you see the French Yellow Vests protests and other similar demonstrations happening worldwide... a lot of the very wealthy and elite will be in for a very rude awakening. We need to go back to fundamental sound monetary practices... not predatory lending you see now and have been seeing since the crash of 2008... There will be lots of turmoil shortly. Look into crypto. It might be our generations "dot.com" equivalent.

The problem with millennials as I see it is that they have been duped into believing that they are the generation who are going to change the world into an utopian society. Plus millennials believe that their university Marxist social justice education makes them smarter than others who done this and that before them. Millennials are the generation of sensitivity, greivence, and outrage; they have been indoctrinated to take offense to everything that offends their delicate feelings.

I have got to say I think maybe it wasn't that these peers of mine hadn't heard of the holocaust or Auschwitz, (thank god for spell check) I just think they must not remember because they beat us over the head with that, I spent 3 years THREE YEARS! going over the holocaust, so maybe the just don't remember or their schools didn't cover it. What always pissed me off is they never, and I mean NEVER even mentioned all the tens of million of people that died to Communism, they didn't say anything about it. Not Russia, not China, not Cambodia. I had to learn all that on my own and that pissed me off because it just shows the huge bias that they don't want people to know all the awful crap communism did. Or probibly everyone was just on their Ipods during the NAZI lecture's, but we had to watch boy in stripped pajama's and stuff. But maybe 5 million people dying isn't even worth paying attention to to my generation.... Oh god no matter what way I look at it it's bad.. Not pay attention and not care, don't learn anything themselves, or learned it but the image of tons of people dying isn't even enough to get them to remember.

Seems like a flawed study. Where was most of the sample size taken? One state or multiple? Was it even a diverse sample within that state(not just ethnically, but socially and economically)? You should read the background on all studies if you can get your hands on the full thing before making conclusions. That stats 101. Side note I will never under stand the propensity of us Americand to define ourselves by generations. I swear I've talked to multiple people from other countries and we are the only ones who really do this shit. I think Americans have a self importance problem in general. Lol
