I've been shut down. I've learned a fundamental lesson about nature. Do not set up feeders when in an apartment, always think about every consequence and know the limits. Too often we are so overjoyed with creation, that the consequence of interfering with nature can be very painful. In this case, the leasing manager shut me down unexpectedly; they have the legal right to. To cut off animals from feeders or any food source cold turkey is CRUEL; not to mention the time of year (winter) is the worst. Fortunately, I did the best I could to wean them as much as possible, after the fact, by placing food and water on the wall, and on the ground, away from the balcony. They definitely recognized the shortage of food supply.
Booooyyy, I wanted goldfinches... I indeed had them! A HUGE flock of them. This chapter of my life was indeed the most beautiful and precious time of my life, in regards to spirituality. Nature does that... brings you closer to the divine. Birds and squirrels taught me more about love, being kind, gained knowledge & insight, and how delicate life is. And the rats, my precious nemeses, I think there is one left 🤔. Nature took care of two. Unfortunately, my camera captured one of the episodes. It ripped my heart out. But, I am so THANKFUL that my precious nemeses succumb to nature and not to the hands of humans. I LOVE all the animals so very much. They brought me so much joy and I am thankful beyond comprehension.
Since the video, the birds are no longer flying in loops around my balcony. A few are still visiting. I leave feed down the walkway, near a tree, for now. And the squirrels... will come when they see me. I always have a pouch of mixed nuts for them. I call it my "nut sack" 😆. And I'm moving. One day I will have the feeder camp back up while in a permanent home.
The video clips were taken from a span of 5 days: 2 days before the shutdown, the shutdown, 2 days after.
