Donna's end is the saddest of the recent companions. She's the only one who didn't get to live to her old age. She didn't even get the chance to make a last stand on her own terms. It really is a terrible and horrible thing. To have someone slowly grow and change, finally realize how amazing and special they are just because they are who they are, save all of reality...and then have it all taken away from her, every little thing, and then seal away all possibility of her ever regaining what she lost. That version of Donna does die, and companions die pretty rarely. And then if s5/6 actually did erase Journey's End somehow, she died for no reason, because the way she saved all of reality never even happened. sooo.

Seriously Donna was amazing! I cried for a very long time when Doctor saved her by sealing her memories T^T Their friendship was amazing, beautiful and funny. They supported each other and Donna made Doctor open to people again. And this video is beautiful and sad - I even had goosebumps. It showed very well their emotions at the end of their journey. This is so beautiful and it was heartbreaking that the moment Donna found out that she was amazing, that she /was/ more than a temp she had her memories taken and she returned to the woman she was before she met the Doctor, the Ood, Rose, and everyone else. She was truly incredible and she will never know it now. She will probably feel like something's missing, but will never know what it is.

Oh wow. I agree that Donnas story was the most tragic. Out of all the companions she was the one who didn't get a happy ending, Rose got her own Doctor, Martha *chose* to leave and ended up with Mickey but poor Donna will never remember the amazing person she became. When the Doctor wiped her memory we saw her go back to the loud sightly obnoxious person she was in 'The runaway bride' and it just broke my heart. For that reson Donna will always be my favourite companion.

Out of all the companions the doctor has ever had, the story of Donna Noble is by far the most tragic. Rose may be trapped in a parallel world, and Marth may have left because of a broken heart, but they can still look back on the times they spent with the Doctor and smile. "Better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all." Donna will never have those memories, she can never remember that wonderful man and all their adventures together.

Personally I think Donna, and River do have the saddest stories a companion can have. One will never know all the great things she has done, and left behind. The other must live each day knowing the next time I see the doctor he will know me less and less. In the end I don't know who has it worse, never knowing or always remembering that he didn't know you in the end.

Donna will forever be my favorite companion, like the 9th doctor is my favorite doctor. I would never pair Donna and the Doctor up as a couple, though. They're just friends. Best friends. And they changed each other- like friends do- for the better.
