The Doctor's "rubik's cube": His relationship with his companions - He knows he needs them and yet he knows that amid all the happiness, they will ultimately be hurt by him. All that they do for him and all that he fails to do for them; In the end is it worth it?

So this started as my OVC challenge vid but didn't turn into that, lol. The Doctor is too complicated to do a character study on...I'll have to think about it longer XD

I discovered this video a few years ago when I had my first sickly litter of foster kittens and they were all dying. This was exactly what I needed. I want you to know that whenever I have a really vulnerable foster and I'm tempted to keep my distance and not spend much time with them in case they don't make it, I think about this video and it helps me be the best caretaker I can be. I go back and watch this whenever I lose one. Thank you for this.

This song is absolutely perfect. As the quote put at the beginning, the Doctor knows that he can't go without a companion, but if he gets one he always ruins their lives and/or makes them sad. It's a rubik's cube he is determined to solve - a way that they can all be happy forever.

The thing I ADORE you for doing is putting a clip of Rose when the song goes "twisting and turning the colours in ROWS" because 'rows' sounds very similar to 'rose' and well done, well done, m'lady!

Oh my GOD do I wish that people could make videos out of the Big Finish audios. Not that this isn't great (it is, in fact, one of increasingly few where I didn't feel a gnawing lack of Classic Who) but it seems very much to me that companions like Charley Pollard and Lucie Miller would be perfectly in this theme (certainly more so than most of the Classic ladies and gents). Alas that audio is audio. And brilliant job.

@@emilythezeldafan848 I think that was true until Whittaker. Not because of her gender. (Missy is still the Master). But because her character has so few similarities to the past Doctor's. Before there were always core aspects that stayed the same. I don't see the ages of pain and love. The kindness, the humor, the intelligence, or the bravery. I don't see how her past has affected who she is now. I don't see my Doctor. The character who I've loved from Hartnell to Capaldi. I think most of this is up to Chibs the idiot although I'm no fan of Whittaker's performance. Perhaps one day the show will recover. But for now, RIP Doctor Who 1963-2017.

There are all of the companions, even those of a episode, but Mickey is missing, no ? I know that he was a little bit idiot, but that why we love him and at the end, he is really good.

Well actually I could see Classic companions be made to work. But the theme of a particularly broken Doctor really needing /someone/ is a particularly post-Time War phenomenon and the "companion as puzzle" seems to have its roots mainly in Charley onward through Lucie and into New Who.
