Of course its connected. Ruins always implied that monsters were stuck behind the barrier, being unable to escape and had hope that they might one day or another. Waterfall, shows the restlessness of the monsters desperately trying to escape to the surface, since its been a long time. And Undyne is Determined for monsters to all go free! She is fighting for them! A true hero! That theme that connects them all, is just that. Being stuck in the underground "theme".

With 8 of these playing while Undyne’s on screen, and 2 playing in her area of the game, you could almost consider this another “Undyne” leitmotif.

The fact that undyne's theme is connected to froggit's makes me so happy. I'm not sure why Aaron is there, but it might be bc of what undyne symbolises? She fights for the whole underground. That's called a leitmotif. It's a technique used for story purposes. If I were to guess, the reason Undyne's theme contains themes from previous locations of the game is so that her theme can imply her loyalty to the underground civilization. Pretty cleaver actually!
