As someone who has played on and off over the years, this is a perfect entry point for getting back into it. I played a couple of bottom shelf guitars from Fender and Yamaha, and they were just horrific. The Storia 2 is only a couple of price points higher, but it is in every way a superior guitar.

In case anyone is curious, I asked Yamaha if the bracing pattern on the Storia is the same as the FS8xx series, and they confirmed it is. The dimensions and spacing are the same between them, so the differences will of course be the finish, fingerboard and appointments. Now if Yamaha would just make an all-solid mahogany concert model with a cutaway...

@@servus2634 thank you so much for such a thoughtful reply. I realised the Storia and the FS were sized similarly. And I've been wondering if going smaller was the better choice, for comfort purposes. I looked at a PRS parlor model, the pink lotus limited edition one. Must admit I was taken in by how it looked and that pink satin finish top. Also looked at the Fender Newporter player (I believe it's called, it could also be called the California - I don't want to hop off KZbin on my phone to Google quick, as I'll lose my comment 😅 Edit: the series is called California, and the Malibu and Newporter were the models I looked at for a few days before learning that Yamaha is better value for money - I've heard said on KZbin by various people). Both look beautiful but I don't believe they sound as beautiful. I think sticking with a Yamaha is a better choice. Thank you kindly for your lovely comment and your time 😊

I’m 5’5’’ and got the Storia 3. I tried the FG800 too. It sounds very good but it was less comfortable to me because of the bigger size. The FG800 is also deeper. If I ever need to be louder, I will get an amp! Eric Clapton is 5’10’’ and plays a 000. (Martin 000-28EC) If it’s good for him, I think a smaller guitar is good for me too but you may feel differently and it’s fine too! The Storia 3 projects less than the FG800 but it sounds very good. I think mine sounds very balanced. The finish is beautiful and the neck is great. I like the walnut fretboard a lot. The Storia 3 sounded very good with a Godin amp in the music shop after I rolled back the mids.

There is slight bow in the neck near the soundhole. Otherwise I am quite happy. @vjexxx2 жыл бұрын
@@geriatric_SurronI tried both guitars in the store today. The FG 820 is a classic best-selling guitar, but it didn't impress me much. Solid. But Storia II blew me away on the first tone. Extremely homogeneous sound when strumming, nothing overemphasized, nothing missing. all 6 strings play as one. Extremely low action, clean tones with minimal grip (I've played guitar with nylon strings so this means a lot to me), no ugly sound of fingers pulling on the strings (maybe the strings are older?). Even the appearance is among the most beautiful I have seen in the store. The neck is comfortable for a smaller hand, the body is slightly rounded on the front edge, so it is comfortable to hold. The concert style body fits me perfectly, somewhere halfway between the dreadnought and mini versions. I don't like the pins which i thought were plastic and gold plated (now i see they are brass) and the gold plated wire mechanisms are pretty ugly too, the blue color inside is a total dud. Also the seller assured me that it is a guitar designed for women and that there are better models for me, but . . . the sound and playability are amazing for that price range, especially for someone who has yet to get used to metal strings.

3:40 There are tons of debates about this but a lighter guitar doesn’t mean it resonates better.
@sagus_mage4 жыл бұрын
This is true - there are many great guitars which are heavier but also very resonant. In my experience though, the lighter builds resonate better more often than not. Satin finishes also seem to help as well. It makes sense to me because with less mass (and less finish), the sound waves should more easily transmit to the wood. But again, just my own thoughts on the matter.
@GarryWan6664 жыл бұрын
The thing that confuses me a bit; which is not relevant to Acoustics. I have 3 different Gibson Les Paul Juniors and two of them are produced in the same year 2019. One is a standard late 2019 version, and the other one is a early 2019 Billie Joe Armstrong signature model. However the late 2019 Jr weights almost half the weight of my early 2019 Junior. Everything is the same except the finish and the pickup might vary. But that huge weight different even though they are basically the same model. That confuses me since the lighter one is my lightest guitar, as light as a dreadnought acoustic. And the heavy one is just slightly less than my Les Paul with 9 hole reliefs
@vjexxx2 жыл бұрын
@@sagus_mage I have a feeling that the Storia resonates well because of the brass pins and because of the light matte finish. I also like the Fender Newporter because of the good playability, but it's a pity that the Player series, which is in the same price range as the Storia, is painted with heavy paint. The Classic Newporter in mahogany tin matte finish is a beautiful guitar, but twice the price of the Player series.

swear to god man, All these reviews of electric acoustic guitars... They're all not playing through the damn pickups. If it was a mic blend pickup your damn right they'd be showing that off. I'm gonna gather from the complete absence of any mention of the pickups on 99% of the guitars I've looked at from these store videos, who DOESN'T showcase the pickups sound, it's because they sound like rubbish. Only the independant dude in his living room gives the real lowdown. I mean, why spend the extra money on an electric acoustic guitar like this if you're not planning on using the pickup? Isn't that why your buying it? literally, any guitar aver $250 is gonna sound pretty good with a condenser in front of it these days. It's really annoying. If the guitar on an order in only guitar, and I can't hear the pickups on these reviews, I flat out can't buy the guitar. Just play through the damn pickups.
