I am a 61-year-old woman who started getting psoriasis at the age of seven. I have been depressed all my life and I am on antidepressants. I also have psoriatic arthritis now, and went to see a rheumatologist who changed my life. I no longer have breakouts I have more confidence and I am so much happier. My doctor prescribed Taltz injections once a month and I have to say I am feeling 100% better. I went to Stanford university three times stayed for two weeks the first time 10 days the second time and just an office visit the third time while I was in high school they use tar baths and ultraviolet lights which helped immensely also. Taltz not only cleared my psoriasis which I had from head to toe but also has helped with my psoriatic arthritis❤ bless this man and Dr. I Emma too!

I understand psoriasis, my Grandfather had 2nd worse case in North America. As a child I saw my Grandfther in pain, sometimes cry with pain and embarrassment. To see a proud man like this it broke my heart. He had the scales from top of head to bottom of feet. It cracked, bled, itchy. He would have Teresa tar baths, went to hospital to be burned, he loved to fish and the water at the two room cottage. He would always be covered up, yet some sun helps. I was the only Grandchild he felt comfortable in front of and I would clean the bathroom for him. He was a smoker and quit, stress and sugar made it worse. Everywhere he went the path of white scales followed. I felt bad for him, hating to see him suffer as he was my fishing buddy and best friend. Back then you did not have these options. So happy for this man, wish you all the best

I've been battling PTSD and all the "fun" that comes with it for over a decade now ever since my parents died. It has taken the joy out of much of my life. No matter what the cause, depression is a vile, destructive condition that creates a sense of loneliness and self-loathing that is hard to put into words.

I remember when I was diagnosed as a child with Plaque Psoriasis, it was a blessing to know and get treated, but also I was made fun of forever. Now in my 40s I was diagnosed Psoriatic Arthritis. I don’t have huge plaques anymore, but my feet crack so bad that I can’t walk and I have no toe nails and at this age, people will make fun and talk about my feet. It’s so hard, painful, and embarrassing.

I got put on Skyrizi, a biologic as well, and I've gotten it 100% free from Abbvie Assist program because of either no insurance or lack of insurance coverage. The Abbie Assist program has been a life saver for me. Skyrizi completely cleared me of my psoriasis. There are options to get biologics at no cost, just takes a good doctor and an application.

Sadly skin conditions and certain types of arthritis can go hand in hand. I see people here suffering with both. I have Crohn’s disease which can affect skin, joints, eyes, etc. I never can understand how a patient suffers this bad before they can get help. I’ve had bouts of itchy skin where I’m given a topical corticosteroid as well as a pill which helps. Seeing this poor man scratch himself like that was unbelievable. I can’t imagine the pain he’d be in.😩

I do have a problem when it comes to doctors who just say quit smoking and they don't offer any kind of a help to do so I haven't had a cigarette in about 13 or 14 years and I can tell you that quitting smoking with more difficult for me than giving up heroin and alcohol put together I think people need to understand that smoking cigarettes can be more addictive than cocaine and does a lot more damage

Happy to see Dr Emma mention giving up smoking - deadly drug in the universe. I have excema and scalp dermatitis and for flareups for the excema I'm prescribed Triamcinolone Cream with excellent results. For the dermatitis I use 3 different Head and Shoulders products and I no longer use body soap but now use Avenno body wash and within 3 minutes of showering I use Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion. I also no longer have ugly heels. Thanks for the always excellent videos.

This is an indication of the power of nicotine addiction. Any sane person with a chronic condition such as this would be grasping at the slightest hint of removing contributing factors. You will see a similar situation in the Asian acne treatment videos of severe affliction. Yet smoking, especially by males, in that population is at extremely high levels, despite all the medical opinion that it makes acne far worse. I had an aunt who would not even quit smoking after lung cancer caused a lung to be removed. Sadly, even 6 months later he confesses to still be at it. Like most smokers, if they confess to "I'm down to 3 or 4 a day" they likely are reporting their best days, not average. The medication has made the biggest change, but if his condition did not convince him to quit... Nothing will.

As a smoker for around fifty years (without psoriasis), I seriously question that this chap has gone down to four or five cigarettes a day. Double that, and you may have just got it right (we smokers are liars in medical situations). Smoking is not negotiable as an addiction; you either stop or you don't.
