Certain folks will identify with these struggles and some may benefit from learning about your experiences. Dang Rusty I’ve gone through the exact same thing myself these past couple of years, moved on my own and bought an rv, moved slightly away from family who is mainly who I spend time with, live in a trailer park with mostly older people, and turned to marijuana and alcohol everyday, and generally lost so much motivation. I only just recently got out of that rutt. It’s nice to hear the personal side of you. It’s very difficult when you get yourself in a bad lifestyle and live it 24/7, here’s to a great 2024 for you, keep on living and moving on 🎉. I know it’s not easy to always talk about these things.

I also had a weed addiction, and the same people who helped me enable my addiction (my friends) said that I couldn't get addicted. Granted, we were all dumb college students, but some of them ended up graduating to harder drugs/substances, and one of them fried his brain and never came back the same. It's so easy to lose your sense of worth and your passion in the things that bring you joy when weed and alcohol help you avoid self reflection

People don’t realize that just because weed isn’t chemically addictive like alcohol, doesn’t mean there isn’t potential for abuse. I was going through a similar situation last year when i moved into college. I got to a point where i couldn’t handle being bored without having a smoke and just ended up being in a position where i was just high all day everyday. I’m now in a much better place where i only smoke a few times a week rather than constantly everyday and i feel so much better and more clear. I hope things get better for you like they did for me and i really appreciate you sharing about this.

Mad respect to you for to be so open and honest on the internet. I’ve always loved your videos and find your content (especially this vid) incredibly relatable. I have also struggled with mental health, isolation, and addiction in recent years and have also been in the process of bettering myself. I think it’s very admirable of you to decide to make such a change in your life. One thing I’ve learned recently in therapy that has helped me a lot is not to try and overcorrect things too quickly. I am a very all or nothing person, and in the past have tried to fix everything all at once, which worked for a few weeks but ultimately fell off. Taking things slower not only keeps things from getting too overwhelming, but also allows you to really notice and appreciate the changes you are making. Sorry for the monologue/lecture, love the videos and podcast. I hope things continue going well for you

Man when i finally moved out of my parents house for good i got an apartment for me and my then girlfriend to live in. She broke up with me the 1st week of me having my own place. I was working night shift. It was the most isolated i have ever been in my entire life. I developed ( furthered really) a drinking problem. I accrued several thousands of dollars of debt. I got severely depressed. Life was awful for many many reasons. I saught help with a therapist. It didnt work. 6 months go by like this. Until i decided to break out of funk. I started excercising. I started eating more healthy. I made as much attempts to reach out to my friends and family as i possibly could. I didnt want to be a burden but i needed the interaction. The dark cloud started lifting. To anyone who read all of this. Thank you. If you are going through similar stuff, never give up hope. It will get better. You HAVE to put in the effort. It wont be easy. It may get worse before it gets better. It will have several ups and downs and 1 step forward and 2 steps back. But eventually it will get better. Just don't give up.

Thank you for creating this video. I dealt with the same kind of addiction to weed when I was in college, and I ended up not caring about my studies, relationships (aside from the people I smoked with) nor my health. Everyday was spent trying to find some way to get high, and it felt shortsighted because I stopped striving for anything - even doing anything I was passionate about felt like I was trying to overcoming some hurdle, so I gave up. I overcame my addiction after 2 years by waking up one day and just saying no to the people who helped me enable my addiction. I still smoke from time to time, but 8 years later I'm in a much better place. The worst part about it was people telling me that weed wasn't addictive, yet those same people were rarely sober by the end of the day.

Good for you. It takes a lot of courage to express yourself like this, especially in a more public setting. Looking forward to the new content and we all know you'll succeed.

Not in the NBA sphere like I once was but have been following you for years & always enjoyed your content. I’ll make sure to throw you likes when I see your videos & try to give them a full listen if I have the time. I’ve been going thru the same addiction issue as you - people act like it’s not difficult to stop & not addictive but it totally is. Since my brother passed in 2016 it’s been a struggle to get off - planning on giving it another try coming up here soon. Best of luck with you defeating that monster.

Good luck with recovery. I am barely a content creator, but a 25+ minute video each week even with an editor while consistently bringing quality content will be incredibly hard. In my not very professional opinion, trying to space these out to two or three weeks or even a month to keep quality high and consistent. I understand more videos = more $$$, but so do longer videos and I think in the long run would retain and gain viewership. Just some thoughts. Edit: Not saying you cannot do it, but it could be less stressful to start out slow and may ultimately lead to better content

He's been consistantly putting out videos for quite some time, it is his job. I'm not saying it isn't hard, even to come up with video ideas alone can be a slog. I'm just stating that I believe he can do it, the proof is in his past performance.

I absolutely LOVE your long form videos, specifically the Gregg Popovich one. You have a serious talent for these long form videos and I’m glad you’re leaning into it! The biggest thing though is that you’re happy with what you’re doing. You don’t owe us shit, we’re just basketball fans who happen to like your style of content. Nobody suffers if you change your content, nobody suffers if you keep it the same, but you DO suffer if whatever you’re making isn’t what you want to make. This channel is yours, don’t let us or anyone else influence your vision of this channel.

I´m new to the channel, starting to watch just last week, and i don´t know how the quality was before this one in particular, but it really shows on the latest bideos that i´ve watched that the quality is pretty high, really really like all the provoking and the critical thinking that you have on and outside of basketball. Keep up with the awesome work man, i´m really enjoying not only this channel but the other one too. P.S.: I've dealt with depression related abuse of weed myself and know how hard it can be, hope you can overcome that hurdle just like i did, best of luck man.
