When I first got serious about knives I watch Nick and Dr. Frunkey. Frunkey mentioned you in a video and I went and watched your videos and was like “ wow this guy is The Godfather of nice knives”. You taught me a lot and I love them. To be honest, sometimes I don’t love or agree with your Instagram posts but who cares. All of us are different but bonded. I met you at blade show briefly in 2019 and that was an honor. Keep up the good work and keep being you.

I miss the Doc on Tubes. Those were great times. And he held Jim in a high regard - he spoke of him highly as a collector, as a maker and a person and I think he’s right on the money with those.

Nick as in nick shabazz? That clown is the worst reviewer out there. He is the prime example of the pocket princess. Every single ine of that smucks reviews he talks about NOTHING but what it looks like. Shit we can clearly see with our own eyes. Yet will spend the entire video talking about what it looks like and how good it is for opening and closing ie fidget toy. Not once has he ever talked about its performance as a knife. He always mentions if it SHOULD be good or not good at slicing based on the blade thickness but thats all. I get that jim here doesn't talk about alot of the knives cutting performances he reviews because they are knives built mainly for show and thats fine alit if them are crazy money. But he does use them lightly but they are used. Jim also has shown his actual user knives and they've been hella used. But nick reviews $20-$500ish knives and the 500$ knives are VERY rarely reviewed. Yet not a single knife ever has shown any sign of use. Even his beloved delca thats now probably 15 years old does not even have pocket clip wear. I really believe his wife cuts his meat for him at the dinner table.

Haha so much good content here. I remember the Fuck You clip video 😂. I will say I was scared shitless to go to dinner with you, however I had a great time and you were a stand up guy. I learned about so many knife makers and brands through you like Red Horse knives, Reate, CKF, Steve Skiff, Michael Zieba, Jerry Moen among so many others. It was actually you that got me back into collecting knives after we had a watch meet up in Minneapolis and you were showing off your Combative Edge flipper. I had bought thousands of dollars in Invicta’s from you that I never wear anymore, and somehow still let you influence my knife buying 😂 I hope your health issues get better and you keep giving the knife world outstanding content, both digital and physical.

I've never had an issue with what you've demonstrated with your words and opinions. I can say I'm impressed as hell with the fast improvement on your designs and execution since beginning your makers journey. Love what you do, how your channel brings me objects of desire, and your no BS approach. All the best to you Jim.✌

I have only watched you for about 2 and a half years or so, but I really have always liked your videos and your opinion and you were the person who actually got me into collecting something more than production knives. My collection is not huge, but I already have a couple of midtechs that are on the expensive side. Its sort of an art collection thing for me. I try to make some whenever I feel, maybe I'll commit to making more in the future but right now I am mostly collecting. I found you quite awhile ago. I was in budget mode & stopped watching because I couldn't imagine spending over $100 for a knife. I liked your videos but it was like taking a self-esteem hit every time. I recently got back into knives because I couldn't afford the watches I want and knives have a much lower cost barrier to quality. Now my "users" are set & I'm content with them, with the exception of a Terrain 365 that I want. Now I get to enjoy your content with the ability to afford a custom if it really strikes my fancy. When I browse knife stores now I search price: high-low. You're still the best resource in this segment. I've always enjoyed your style. I've been in restaurants my whole life, so maybe we just share some of the same sense of humor & attitude. Always refine your craft, but keep doing what you're doing man. I've always thought you did it well.

Hi Jim, I’ve known of you since you were hocking watches on tv and have been watching you on KZbin since the Yuma Hard 2. Funny thing about people, from the way you’ve presented yourself and the way I’ve interpreted it through a screen over all those years, I always got the impression you were a humble, intelligent, stand up guy, who’d be really cool just to hang out with. I’m not timid but am certainly an introvert and rarely initiate conversations with strangers. On the numerous times I’ve come across a celebrity in public, I’m not interested in saying hi, shaking hands, and I certainly don’t line up for a selfie. That said however, you are the only KZbin “influencer” I’d be eager to meet if our paths ever crossed, because my impression of you has always been that of a genuinely friendly, interesting, and more importantly, nice, person. Anyways, keep doing what you’re doing, the way you do it👍

I wanted to post a comment months ago and wasn’t able to due to my phone being finicky. That’s my comment from IG and it was completely my sentiment, that it was easier to keep distance than it would be to go make friends, and interact, while making my own opinion on the matter. I had many friends that said that through personal experience (Jeff Goodenow) who were very affirmed in their opinion, and would tell me that he’s a nice guy, easy to talk to, and wasn’t going to aggressively look for trouble, or start a fight for no reason. A lot of guys would get chastised and pulled in to one fight or another for being so off-the-cuff, and we would worry about offending people. I’m glad that you don’t. I don’t mind the dark humor and actually dig it. I’m glad that I came around, because I had the impression all wrong, and I would have been missing out on some of the best reviews, purchase options (buying from you, or from Jeff afterwards) and I would be missing an entire small niche of the community that is rallied behind you, and knows how good of a knife you can make and design. It can also be a little bit intimidating when the person that you’re dealing with has a lot more experience and a hobby that you absolutely love, and look up to. A lot of us look up to guys like you and we wouldn’t want to be on the wrong side. Little did I know, that you are a very normal person, he just isn’t shy about sharing some thing slightly offensive, if the humor is intended, and done well. You’re an honest guy and nobody can knock you for that. Keeps shooting from the hip and goes like me will definitely get a clue, even if it takes a little longer to do so, lol. Anyone want to find me on IG , I’m at jonduncan316 on IG and I’ll accept you if there’s a knife anywhere in the profile, or if you have photos to post - I don’t accept accounts that seem like they could be a bot with 0 photos and 0 friends and following 5 people, as a deterrent to being hacked and losing all my family photos. Add me and I’ll add ya back if you’re not a bot! Hope to see you all here on the tubes and later on the grams!!!

I think a lot of people put wayyy too much stock into other people’s political views. For me personally, I can definitely say we wouldn’t agree much on politics (for the record, no I’m not a Biden Supporter) but that is not one of the deciding factors in judging a person’s character for me personally. But for other people it is, and that’s just sad. To those people I say, grow up and learn how to take a joke, even if you don’t think it’s funny. Medford also has this issue, and I know for a fact that Greg is actually a really nice guy in person. I enjoy joking around with you on IG and whatnot. I’ve gone back and watched a lot of the old videos and I can say without a doubt you’ve reviewed some of the most bad ass customs on YT. That’s what brought me here.
