Great idea! I've never used a NASCAR Chassis like that before, but I think it's a good idea. That's what is so neat about this model building hobby. Some just build a model straight out of the box, and some like to kit bash. So there's something for everybody. 🙂

Matt - Find the right size pill bottle, Cut the top off, then cut what is left in half. Perfect wheel tubs. The filler in the interior rear you can get sheet styrene in different patterns or just a plain sheet. Styrene is so easy to work with and bend I can't believe more people don't use it. Just my 2 cents. Keep on modeling.

20 years ago I had a thought "what would happen if NASCAR went retro?" (but with all the modern safety devices). As a Mark Martin fan (and a Thunder Road fan) I married the two ideas together and dropped a 50 Ford body on the Thunderbird NASCAR chassis. Removed all the trim work and smoothed the body, added a trunk spoiler, scribed roof flaps on the roof, and discovered that the "custom" front valance from the 50 ford kit had the perfect chin spoiler already built in. Aftermarket Stroh light decals........perfect.

Use the pill bottles that was suggested, those are great for wheel wells. Using the NASCAR kit for the frame is a great idea. Be sure that the big block engine you are going to use will fit into the chassis. Mock up the engine in the chassis pretty soon, just to make sure it will work with what you plan to do on the build. The idea with the interior tub seems like a good one, but I’m thinking you’ve got a lot of trimming/cutting your future. Get ready to sling your fair share of putty to get things to fit nicely. Also, use a piece of sheet styrene for the package shelf. You may want to consider using some flocking for the carpet and package shelf. It will look nice, and should help to hide the cuts you need to make. Just a thought, why not consider a turbo 4 cylinder engine, and make a road racer. Thanks for sharing.

Kit-bashing that Cutlass body onto a NASCAR chassis is a great idea. I did the same thing using an AMT ‘67 Chevelle body back when that kit was new(1993?). But using a NASCAR chassis as the base for a pro street car ? Not sure your ticket will get us to that station. If you’re determined not to use the obvious Chevelle pro street chassis, why not use a Monogram Pro Stock/Pro Street chassis ? I’d think that would be more straight forward ?

Ok Matt, I have seen street cars built with a nascar theme so why not a pro street Nascar? I look at these kits and I see a great platform for a badass pro touring build.

So, it sounds like you are making a whole lot more work by not using the 67 chassis. It has the room for the tires...the NASCAR does not...so there I said it. It also requires a lot of cutting and filling. Pro Street chassis have room for the wheels and tires you want up under the chassis.

It will work great, If you check out my channel, you'll see what I'm doing for the Fred Henry build using a Nascar chasses and a truck body, It lined up great, I did very little to make it work. Keep up the great work sir,
