I took the ricky smith pro stock chassis from his thunderbird and used a revelle 85 camaro and just shortened the wheel base by a few 1/8's. Very mimimal to allow the front tires to be centered in the wells. Came out great.

Wow thank you so much for your channel, Your knowledge of kits and what will go with what is remarkable . To see you take the time and say this will fit with this and this wont is a game changer when someone wants to kit bash and see if it will work. You seam to know a lot as to what's in the kits and if it will even work at all with another kit. With no disrespect to you , you may not build a lot of kits on your channel and say this is this step and this is this step , But maybe that's why I watch your channel . It's not all about this build are that build but the thing's you show us .Thank you vary much for your channel

The Nasty Camaro had a sister kit. It was a pro street 80s Firebird body that used the Nasty Pro street Camaro tub, interior, motor, wheels, cage, etc. Used those 2 kits to tub a ton of cars in the 80s. Especially the Old Pro Nova since I owned a Nova in the 80s.

Thanks for great info and learning process scratch building is what makes or breaks a great model builder it's not easy matching up parts to make it look right it takes hours going through parts and finding just the right part for the build I spend a good month doing nothing but going through all my parts bins and opened kits before I start my scratch build kit bash cust builds cuse if you don't have every single part that looks correct or looks good and fits correctly in there it's not going to look right I'll throw the whole model off even a carburetor if it's too high or too low would throw the whole model off as well especially blowers if you got a blower that's meant for like a 125th scale and it's really small compared to your motor it won't look right

As a kit basher, this vid was very useful. I have not thought about the idea of using those old pro stock cars as a doner. I wil have to give that a try.

Good stuff ! I remember building a pro street ‘70 Mustang when I was a kid and the wheel base was perfect. I think I used a Thunderbird chassis though. Right now there is an old Thunderbird pro stock kit and another ‘70 Mustang kit in my stash, just waiting for my 14 year old self to rise up and start kit-bashing ! I also built a pro street ‘86 Corvette convertible back then……🤔

Cool. I actually like the T Bird/Don Hardy chassis better than the Camaro/ Chris Alston chassis. But the latter is more popular.

I been kitbashing since the early 60's. Last yr I kitbashed the body of the 1/24th 1993 Jeff Gordon Lumia to the chassis from the 1/25th 90 Oldsmobile of Ernie Irvan. The firewall , rear interior side panels, roll cage ,rear fender wells and trunk area had to be cut down to fit. The body now lifts off with ease. Why do I build models? 69 yrs old, retired and it keeps my hands and mind busy, plus I grew old but never grew up.

I just checked my 1/24 Grand National kit against my 1/24th Bob Glidden T-Bird kid (both built) and the wheelbases are almost exact, so, I think a T-Bird kit would be the way to go, with the Regal body, way less to modify, if you want to build the pro stock Regal.
@RLRSwanson2 жыл бұрын
I think someone, maybe on the model cars magazine forums did it that way, using the t-bird chassis with the GN/Regal body. I also found an example on there of somebody making the 83 or so Warren Johnson Pro Stock Cutlass with the Hurst Olds body and I think it was the Camaro chassis.
@TheLukaCeeChannel2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I did not have my T Bird chassis near me to test fit. And I did not want to get into that at that time. But you are right. I have a project already started thst is that T Bird/ Don Hardy chassis and a Revell 1/24th 86 Monte Carlo Aerocoupe. Fits nice

The G body cars are 108" wheelbase, and the 82-92 Camaro is, I believe 106". The Camaro may be slightly wider at the middle. The 67-69 Camaro's are 108", 68-72 Nova's are 110".

Like many others, I'd have to say that if it wasn't for the option of " kit bashing," I would have been out of the craft years ago! Many of us have refused to build a model, the same way it came in the box. Blame it on George Barris, Big Daddy Ed Roth, Gene Winfield, and Darryl Starbird. ( shout out to the movie " Hollywood Knights!) I'm 64 and started this craft when I was eight, and " kit bashing" was all I've ever known! Unfortunately I can't pay it the honors it deserves, because we have 3D resin parts now, and that has made " kit bashing" a lot more obsolete. Perhaps I'll do a video on some of the things that you would never guess fitting,...but still do. However, there is still one way that " kit bashing" is saving this craft! Last month I bought a 1970 Johan 442. Thankfully ( because of how rare this car is, and it's poor quality parts) Revel made an upgraded version, that even includes extra parts! Did the same with a Johan 70 Superbird! Thank God for the " kit bashing" option,...it has been everything to me!

Great segment Luka Cee. I have a separate question concerning gear shift knobs. Maybe you do this already, but it's something I discovered recently. I'm assuming that 99 percent of shifters are chrome plated. Instead of painting the knob, I've started taking my exacto knife and scraping the chrome off the knob. It gives it a more natural ivory look. What is your thoughts?
