I had a lawn mowing business when I was I high school. I’ve always loved mowing. That’s when I started driving the tractor and Bushhogging at the farm too. That smell of fresh cut grass (and weeds) always takes me back.

I am in Ga as well - just curious how the muscadine vines did in Ga when it got down to single digits in the last year or two when we had the really bad cold snap?

Morning Shane good info. Do you use the 10-10-10 on only the muscadines or on all your plants? Same with the nitrate? What did you use on your gem corn?

I use on all my fruit plants. Nothing on the corn but you can use a high nitrogen fertilizer on that corn

Okay I found your fertilization video I getting conflicting information from different areas about the frequency of fertilizing mature Vines, are you saying that you fertilize you're mature Vines 3 years older with calcium nitrate and 101010 twice a month until the 15th of July starting in April
@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia7 ай бұрын
Yes but don't worry if you don't. That's what's recommend. I haven't fertilized but twice this year. We been so busy after our house fire. We are loaded with grapes. I always say the most important thing is prunning in February
@Antherdayinparsdise7 ай бұрын
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia I talked to a grower here in Florida and he has an acre and a half of muscadines, he said he had problems with the trace minerals building up. He's been doing this for about 15 years or so, I don't know what kind of fertilizer he was using, I know it was 10:10
@Antherdayinparsdise7 ай бұрын
101010, a lot of the triple 10 I'm finding, has 50% slow release for 6 months. I don't want to use that kind. What kind are you using?
@dwishji3 жыл бұрын
I remember you said Ison's nursery said not to put chicken manure on the muscadines, but if the ones close to the chicken coup are budding leaves ahead of the other ones then it makes me wonder if a little scattered out throughout the year is good for them.

On which side of the Cascades are you growing them? I'm in Seattle and I'm growing muscadines in a big greenhouse. I'm expecting them to finally bear fruit this year. I wouldn't even try to grow them outdoors like my regular grapes.

@firecloud77 The only issue I noticed is that it starts to flower very late, much later than regular grapes. They ripen in late September October. As far as the vine, it grows really good, it helps to have some mulch on top because of the shallow root system. I have I video on how I grow them on my channel if you wanna see

@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia I love your channel, I told my husband " Shane from kinfolk does it this way, so that's how we should do it" I've got another question for you. How much and how often do you water your new transplants? I know they require 35 gallons or so a week, but is that later on in maturity, or right off the bat?
@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia3 жыл бұрын
I'm on a well so I'm always scared of running it dry. If it's rained good you can wait a few days. They love water so just don't let roots get to dry. And yes I definitely water new plants alot because we are trying to get the up and out both sides of the wire first year. You should start checking out my LIVES every Monday night at 9 pm eastern and I will answer all your questions in more detail. Really hard in a text lol
