That last comment was Golden! Wow! ‘you are struggling with an addiction to stress, if I'm busy then it means I have value and if I have value then I'm worth something to someone else!

This episode was amazing Mel! “and I asked myself what am I running away from - what's under the hood of this impulse to distract and it was too much” - Dr Scott Lyons

I have done this, Mel! I have purposely been more aware of reaching from my phone and lately even if I wanna read up on the news, I’ll put a video on as well so I have something that I’m listening to while I’m looking at the news, it’s insane! So I have purposely when I feel the impulse to reach to my phone I don’t and you do feel that agitation and I just try to see how long I can go It’s the same thing when I’m on the phone talking after a while I get up and I start cleaning dusting doing something while I’m talking and then I realize and I sit myself down and just make me sit and have the conversation without doing anything else It’s very hard

I recently had a moment that Dr Lyons is referring to where I noticed the way I was creating the pressure and stress inside my own mind. And, I stopped because there was nothing more important than being okay with myself right now. Also, I’d like to add that our American culture is focused on achievement. So, I think it supports doing rather than being. Of course, both are necessary but balance is key. Thank goodness mindfulness has become more popular, likely in response to this.

When one learns that being busy, is to do good to and for others for the sake of the Creator, not to please people, that is when busyness is worthy within. I’m stressed out of my mind at times being sleep deprived and isolated by a mentally disabled adult child. Imprisoned. Going out of the home is a crash of all nerves with her, an eloper. I only go to the phone when I’m not busy, and too tired to be productive to please myself. In that is anxiety and stress. Not so much the reasoning of having a narcissistic father who was abusive and didn’t give hugs or love or celebration. We hid from him. If I ever had anything to be celebrated it was used to put my brothers down or to put himself on a throne saying look, he has a daughter who graduated from college level high school and university. Like a trophy. I do appreciate the idea that many have to lower stress by being less busy though. I’m up for any inspirational conversation and am grateful Mel. Thanks.
