This is so educational not only for you, but for us viewers too!! I'm easily able to identify when my horse and I jumped that I too would be nervous and pull and pull and have absolutely nothing for a canter, and then we'd chip and just have poor riding all around. It's wonderful seeing when you had that a-ha moment!

I love your videos Meg but It always amazes me that when you ride bear, a pony that stops and spooks, you always ride so forward but with Dee and Jam you hold them when they never seem to do anything and try so hard! Well done for doing your best and working to make yourself the best rider you can be!

Zero Curly Wurlys where I am in the US, on the East coast. Maybe in the international foods section of Wegmans, but I don't really eat candy so I don't check the candy there... Really appreciate seeing the lesson and all your commentary and explanation. Looking forward to hopefully seeing the video of Jammy getting new bits, too!

Poor Hobs. Back issues are awful and only people who suffer understand it. Jam is so much happier with the forward ride, she just loves her job :). As for Curly Wurly's, we *can* get them in Canada but it seems only specialty shops, Amazon etc. We used to have it here a loooong time ago but it was called a WigWag then. :)

Lovely to see another of your videos, Meg. I could never get tired of watching you and the ponies! not to criticize ( everyone does what they feel is best for their horses of course) but I will say, it is quite nice to see you jumping with boots on your pony. I do believe leg protection is not to be taken lightly and the boots probably help the horse to feel more confident… thank you so much for the video!

Great lesson fabulous gray pony! Thanks for the curly wurly tip. When I was a kid my fav candy bar was the Marathon Bar it was very similar looking foot long braid of chocolate covered caramel. Loved them frozen! Sadly, long ago the were discontinued, I don't think I've had one since the late 70's. Yes, I'm that old. Anyhoo as I was listening I put a package of curly wurlys in my Amazon cart. I will be so grateful to you from across the pond, if they turn out to be the same or even close to this old gals childhood candy.

Well done Meg and Jam. I can relate to you holding onto Jam. I had an Arab X who was great at jumping but wanted to run full speed all the time. Lot of hard work schooling to slow him down to give me the confidence. I love curly wurley too. Hope your Mum is feeling better soon. 🤗

My heartfelt sympathy to Hobbit! I so enjoy your training videos. You process them well and we all benefit. Please go back and watch your Bicton video. You were bold and confident and it payed off. You have become more cautious lately and your caution rattles Jam. She is so scopey. We have watched her mature into such a confident pony. She's pulling because she knows how much power she needs to navigate the course. She is trying to show you now. I've always felt it is a sign of good schooling and a great relationship when your horse wants to make a valid point. Congratulations! Oh, we don't have Curly Whirlies here in Georgia (US). Wish we did....

One thing I learned from equestrian classes back when University of Kentucky still had them that always stuck with me; just like driving a car, you slow down before the turn then accelerate thru the turn. So half halt before then leg on thru.
