Being naive is thinking that it's only on Putin. The problem is Russophobic Ukr government and distant possibility of them hosting Nato nukes. It makes current Ukr an existential threat for Russia and any other president would not view it any differently.

The whole Ukrainian history isn't Russian history thing keeps being brought up by Ukrainians as if it's somehow unique. Many ancient kingdoms which are now part of the same country could say similar things. Of course that's not a reason for Russia to claim Ukrainian land etc. But I also don't think it's a strong arguement for independence either (as it's true of just about every country). The only arguement that is needed (because it is the most valid) is Ukraine IS an independent country, legally guaranteed by Russia and it wishes to remain so.

It is not just Putin, no Russian leader will allow Ukraine to join NATO. Why do NATO even want Ukraine to be a member? In 2008 when it was announced that ‘Ukraine will join NATO’ there is no evidence that they had even asked to join. It is a total mess that could have been avoided.

Russian troops have hit one more Ukrainian US-made Abrams tank in the Avdeyevka area with the use of Upyr FPV drones, a spokesman for the drone manufacturer told TASS. "I have just been told by our soldiers that our drone can boast hitting an Abrams tank. The 30th infantry brigade damaged its caterpillar track and then it was hit by two Upyrs catching fire after the second strike. A PG-7V munition was used," he said. It was the third Abrams tank to be struck near Avdeyevka. The first Abrams was completely destroyed with the use of an FPV drone Piranya on February 26. In slightly more than a day, the second Abrams was struck by a drone. Its crew managed to get out. Russian troops employed Upyr FPV (first-person view) drones for the first time in the special military operation in Ukraine in May 2023. The drones proved their worth in combat operations: it helped Russian troops wipe out enemy boats with the assault force on the Dnieper River, adversary fortifications, dugouts and strongholds. Today, Russian troops are employing Upyr drones in all the directions of the special military operation in Ukraine.

If Europeans would stop listening to women leaders and feminine male leaders and take the lead in their own destiny they would not be in this position. It was a show of weakness that caused this entire episode. The dilemma poised by Putin is in how to negotiate opinions. The EU as the base aim of creating a contract in which each partner can , through dialogue, attempt to gain approval for a motion. The use of force being kept out of all negotiations , so the initial response to Russian aggression as always knowingly been a call for dialogue, this is also known to Putin . Putin as always been aware that Europes inion also places calye on tge independence of each individual country, it is this limit on a central governing power that ensures Putin as plenty of time and freedom to maneuver and play on differences that exists in the EU and Europe as a whole . What is now happening, largely due to Russias failure in war, is there is an awareness that war cannot be avoided while Russia is still attached to its USSR heritage , this as finally started to sink in, quicker than climate change.

Macron and Lloyd Austin are panicking. Zelenskyy regime is on its last legs and it will unlikely survive until the end of the year. Well, it's a quote from The Time article. Zelenskyy top advisers say about him: “He deludes himself, ” one of his closest aides tells me in frustration . “We’re out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that. It is immovable, verging on the messianic.” One Austrian artist was in a similar state in 1945. Zelenskyy "achievements" to date: 500,000 Ukrainians are dead, 3x that mangled and crippled for life, half of Ukraine's population is living as refugees scattered all over Europe and Russia right now, they're drafting women because they've run out of men to kidnap off the streets, gyms and public transport. NYT wrote about these mass kidnappings that were happening only in Zelenskyy Ukraine and Hitler's Germany in 1945 in an article ‘People Snatchers’.

Ukrainian Nationalists tried this in 1941 too. At first it seemed like everything was going to work out their way, but then the Russians did not break and the tides of war turned against them. 80 years later they are trying again; and again, initially it looked like everything was going to work out their way, but again Russia did not break.

But Putin tried everything before war. For example when his man Yanukovic stood against the western leaning Yuchenko for the presidential election in 2005, Yunchenko was poisoned. Who could have done that? 😳 But annoyingly for him, Yuchenko survived and won the election. So Putin hiked their energy prices to insupportable levels and got his man in at the next election with a promise to ‘negotiate’ cheap energy. The takeaway from this talk and one that I have been conscious of for some time is the difference between the way Britain gave up its colonies but kept good relations with them by not interfering in their politics and the way Russia saw its colonies as traitors when they rejected Russia and turned towards the west. This guy’s Make Russia Great Again comment is one that I have come to use myself from watching street interviews with Russians who love Putin because of his ‘foreign policy’.
