Absolutely not. I've dropped off _Hard_ Since after Final Shape. Now I only get on to play with friends and help those in Raids And dont even get me started on pvp. Outside of dicking around in PMs with, Again, Friends, I have not touched PvP. Except 8v8. I liked that.

You can tell who actually plays Destiny 2 by those who claim it's a PvE only game. These types of people don't realize that Destiny 2 has always been a PvP/PvE game at its core. The game's player base declined due to the lack of PvP support for so long. Recent DLC sales have proven that good PvE content didn't increase DLC sales, because focusing too much on one side of the game will eventually lead to a huge portion of the player base leaving. Let this sink in for players who say it's a PvE only game. Despite receiving great PvE content in the final shape DLC, people still lose their jobs.

I haven't played since the week before lightfall. The TWABs basically laying out that they were abandoning PVP killed it. I stayed checking out what the "strike team" might do, but it was wayyyyyyy too little way to late. 5 brand new maps with the final shape would have brought me back. It's not even very many for a game with the player count d2 had and a studio bungies size. Bungie would need a new leadership structure to get me to buy another game from them.

The problem with the idea of "just take it less seriously" and/or "just take a break when you're not feeling up to it" is that the game still requires money to continue playing. New expansions, new seasons, these things require continued investment. If they were entirely free and PERMANENT, players could come in and out as they pleased, and never have to worry about FOMO manipulating them to feel forced to play when they aren't up to it. As it stands (doubtful that this will change with Frontiers), new big content will require more money to get in the door, and if the current content isn't good enough for people to feel good about the last couple years worth of purchases, slowly but surely, more and more people will say no, the player count will continue to drop. Especially when you factor in the increasing amount of bugs that aren't just nagging little graphical quirks, but potentially YEARS worth of "this bug caused the gear you tried to farm nearly impossible to get"...what Paul Tassi was talking about, losing the trust of the players...if players can't trust Bungie to make a fun, rewarding product (rewarding in loot, rewarding in story, rewarding in competition, rewarding at all), then why bother play OR pay. Nothing gets better when the community is largely apathetic.

I'm a veteran player and have apathy towards the game. After playing a bit of Echoes, I just eventually stopped playing and focused on single-player games. I have no interest in really coming back either. After seeing how this episode is doing, I'm not really missing out on anything because I already have crafted weapons that can do the same job as these new ones, but do it better, or have god roll loot from the Into The Light update before Final Shape and have better loot, along with dungeon loot that can do the same thing these episode/season weapons can. Without new perks or being non-craftable, there isn't much incentive to get these weapons due to the vault space issues, I may not have that issue, but others do. It's why some of the community wants a Destiny 3, to have something new and innovative.

The best thing I ever did was quit this game. Loved playing it very much, but it's not a shell of its former fun filled self. The game actually sucks which is something I would have never said a year and a half ago. After leaving, I find myself enjoying gaming a lot more. Playing games that actually end, appreciating different genres and actually having fun instead of playing a chore... because that's what Destiny 2 is. A grocery list of things for the player to do in order to maintain status. Like I said, this game used to be amazing, but now? It absolutely sucks.

I'd still argue that super negative comments are still bad to have. Even if it does mean they are interacting, most of em are extremely toxic and rude. Making both the devs hesitant to interact with us, what few can, and much of the community unwilling to be at all respectful to each other. Creating a hostile environment that isn't inviting nor enjoyable. It feels like pointing this out though doesn't do anything, as most seem to shrug it off or be toxic just like I've mentioned, to justify being such horrible people.

As soon as I stopped taking Destiny 2 seriously I enjoyed myself FAR more than I had in the past. By simply playing maybe a couple matches of iron banner, a quick dungeon run or the final encounter of a raid instead of grinding for long hours, I've enjoyed the game so much more. I feel like Destiny has such an addicting and time consuming gameplay loop that far too many people treat the game like it's their job and take changes and problems with the game far too seriously. Just take a break, play other games and play what you like instead of stressing over what you don't. Yes you may not get the 5/5 god roll or have the gilded title to flex with but you'll be far happier and have lots more time on your hands.

I think criticizing the game for it’s flaws is totally acceptable. The game in itself is amazing to play, but the new player experience needs a complete overhaul. There’s a lot of quality of life that can be implemented too. Showing in precisely what fragments/perks/mods gives would be a huge improvement. Why do I need to ho on a 3rd party website to understand how bait n switch is way better than frenzy? Adding the % each buffs gives you wouldn’t overload the description of the perks at all. I love this game and play it everyday but complaining all the time is just a waste of energyto me. I do the activities I like and that’s it.

I built a clan and a Discord around Destiny 2 and I love the group of players I've managed to build up (albeit a small one), but I still have all the bots and active pings in various channels for Destiny news, Bungie Tweets et cetera - so we all have a laugh over all the bugs and issues that seem never ending. But we've all basically stopped caring because we stopped playing. We stopped complaining. But I would argue that that reality is almost worse. We complained because we truly cared about the game and wanted to see change. Now, we just don't care and we've all moved onto other games - which has been great for all of us. Anyway - cheers to you for the Space Marine 2 content btw, as a huge Heresy/40k lover, you did great with all of it. Don't mind the Chaos ridden heretics bashing you in comments.

The latest Destiny scandals, weightgate and tonicgate, have really drained the remaining incentive to play and grind this game. I didn't think they'd actually break the "looter" in a looter/shooter but they did. So now I just do 1 GM and close game. Get the IB armor and close game. A broken loot chase makes the additional bugs and glitches much more intolerable. Hence, the people will close the game and move on. @ArcturusAlpha People aren't so much mad that it happened and more that Bungie told us we were dead wrong numerous times, until people in the community came at them with irrefutable evidence, because Bungie always thinks it knows best. Only then did Bungie capitulate and go "Whoopsie". Bungie has a long history of ignoring the community's woes until it looks like they can get good PR out of it and claim to be the hero coming to save the day. Or claiming a thing is for the benefit of the community, like them lying about Activision, or hiding/lying about XP throttling numerous times over many years.

what you said in general is how I approach PvP specifically. I am a Warlock main (who does all PvE activity first on Warlock. But was not having any fun in PvP, I started using Hunter. Not the version I personally think is still broken (Prismatic - Storm's Edge, strand spector dodging, and swarm grenades). Even IB I went through the guilding w a Solar hunter build, with tripmines and weighted knife, and pulling Traveler's judgement sidearm from collections. Switching between exoctic gauntlets for variety (Ahamkara spines, and Athry's). I decided to ignore the meta and have fun, and in the end actually played better overall than I normally do (but the key point was had more fun in PvP in a long time. Will keep playing Solar Hunter in PvP until it stops being fun.

I will quote you at 5:00 of your video - "And to make things worse, Trials of Osiris has always been the activity that keeps people coming back." I say this is a bold statement and can be considered a lie. Trials of Osiris does NOT carry the player base, and never has. It has seen record low numbers almost every week for many months (outside of a few outliers of 200K players on certain weeks). C'mon Vanguard, at least stay honest. Trials only carried in D1, in D2 it has been nothing but a challenge for everyone, bungie included.

Then it's time for Bungie to stop intentionally underdeveloping content, and to stop pushing that self-destructive mantra on to other developers in public GDC's. We as consumers of a product we pay for, have the right to voice concerns when a product is bad. Destiny 2 is not a free game. Every DLC cost money. Every annual DLC is typically $100 for the people who are complaining because we buy the full year package with all the seasons, just to get a underdeveloped buggy season where half the community can't even progress the season because they get locked out of making tonics. Or how about all the bugs where things like tonics are meant to target a specific drop but they actually don't? No. It's time you stop defending Bungie. It's time you hold accountability as a content creator, and hold Bungie accountable too. If you were truly happy with the game with nothing to complain about, then you wouldn't have taken a many, many months break from the game. You didn't play through alot of the mess and bugs we did. You come back to Destiny finally and the videos were basically "did I miss anything good?" and "stop complaining".

Just like you I will always love Destiny and I still play it regularly, it is still my main game. These days however I feel like I have less and less desire to play. Before, I would come home from work and couldn't wait to jump in and try out a new build/gun, sometimes I would even skip dinner for more playing time. These days I have to force myself to jump in sometimes because it just isn't as fun as it used to be. As a PvP main, overpowered hunters, crazy uptime of special ammo, ability spam, bad matchmaking, SBMM, and poor sandbox choices have really made the PvP experience annoying and simply not fun. Games are supposed to be fun. The season of the splicer and the 30th-anniversary sandbox was the best for PvP in my opinion. I'd love to go back to those days.
@ArcturusAlpha
@ArcturusAlpha Ай бұрын
as a pvp main as well SBMM is what kept me around. the amount of bad matchups in trials was the worst for so long. constantly being matched where a 3 stack was against 3 randoms over and over was not ideal or fun. idk what your skill level is or what you think are bad sandbox changes but ill def die on the hill that SBMM was good for most of the pvp player base.
@MuhammadAli-qk2fe
@MuhammadAli-qk2fe Ай бұрын
@ArcturusAlpha personally I really hate trials. I play it every now and than and have gone flawless a couple of times but I mainly live in 6v6. SBMM in 6v6 quickplay is awful because it makes everyone play sweaty. I hate using the meta and prefer to use stuff that people wouldn't think about and you could do that before and still play well. Now you will be severely punished for not using the best of the best or the matches will just be extremely sweaty because no one is willing to take risks and people just team shoot and deathball.
@ArcturusAlpha
@ArcturusAlpha Ай бұрын
@@MuhammadAli-qk2fe you must be at a higher skill level or whatever metric they use because my games on average have become less sweaty in control maps. but to be fair i dont try to play the meta which gives me less wins so i get the chill lobbies. should i win a lot though i do get some sweaty lobbies. the only time i have issues lately is when i take a break and dont know what the meta is and get demolished by weapons that were weak before OR i play on small maps that obviously should be 5v5 and not 6v6 or the worst one is when we have a really balanced game and everyone stays around for the next one only to have one team do a bit better that time for one of many reasons and bungie is like lets break up the team. i was playing two nights ago and this happened multiple times. we have a close intense game where it comes down to the wire and is close for the match maker to mix up teams in what i can only image is previous match performance instead of career performance on each map. there are some maps i do really good on and other i absolutely loath and play badly on. as for trials it has also been less sweaty once they fixed the matchmaking that always pitted randoms versus full teams. in general i just like 3v3 more because its less chaos and i can make plays and track what the other players are doing instead of just getting attacked from every angle. ive only been to the lighthouse once or twice but in general the SBMM has made the experience better for me playing on console. idk but it sounds like we should play together. im constantly using weird shit that doesnt get the win but is fun.

Like you I’ll always be a fan and hop on to play from time to time, but my interests have been drawn elsewhere. As of now I haven’t really touched the game for about 6 months. Just last week I loaded it up, sat in orbit, and quit after 10 minutes chilling there. Ignoring profit motivations, as a player I'd wish that Bungie would just stop trying to maximise engagement throughout the entire year and just provide 2 "mini expansion" content with no seasons. yes they have said they are adding "shadow-keep sized expansions" but they can just stop the seasons (since 60% of the time they suck anyway) and just provide quarterly patches since they clearly do not have the resources or ideas to keep up with the episodic model
