It's Time to STOP the Logan Paul Loophole (MatPat Reaction)

Hey guys, I know that this is definitely NOT a Game Theory, and IRL reactions are something I've never really done like this. While I definitely don't intend on making this kind of video a regular presence on the channel, in this very special instance I felt so strongly about the issue that I wanted to say something on a personal note. You've no doubt heard the story over the last week. Viner turned social media star Logan Paul uploaded an exploitative and disrespectful video. A LOT has already been said about that. Instead, I'm here today to comment on KZbin's response. A week after the video, KZbin released an open letter saying that it will take steps to address the situation, but as we all know, they sometimes OVERCORRECT in times like this. So before KZbin takes any actions that might potentially harm the creators and viewers on this platform, I have a few words that I’d like to share.

I love how KZbin keeps Logan’s videos that show him tasing dead mice, making his untrained dog a service dog illegally, and even more yet the people who work hard on their videos get demonetized for no reason!!! Here are some that got demonetized - so many of Threadbangers random DIYs (yes they cuss but Logan does too, it is also against the rules to cuss at all in your videos, even bleeping it should cause a demonetization yet Threadbanger gets demonetized and Logan doesn’t!!!) - SimplyNailogicals Peel Porn video where she peels off her nail polish with a peel off base coat and makes fun of it because she called it peel porn (she acts inappropriate but she did make a warning and yet Jake and Logan don’t when thy talk inappropriately and yet KZbin doesn’t demonetized it, even though Logan talks about how is channel is catered around children and Cristinne’s channel isn’t, her channel was supposed to be for adults and older teens, yet children watch her) - so many more It’s KZbin that’s killing their own community, they demonetized videos for no reason, and let the bad ones be, just because they’re famous Look at Pewdiepie’s Japan vlog -respectful to the culture -has fun but is very nice and not chaotic -isn’t screaming or leaving fish on cars - isn’t being rude whatsoever Logan -very disrespectful -being chaotic and loud -making a scene - is apologizing even though he’s apologized before and doe it again and again! I appreciate the fact that Matpat A youtuber who works with youtube and is one they advertise a lot, is the one stating this. As it's further proof that this can't be ignore anymore. Not gonna lie, KZbin REALLY needs to stop blatantly playing favorites like this. The fact that significantly lesser channels have been crippled for MUCH lesser offenses is especially infuriating.

Heracross X I know im late to this party, but you see this everywhere. Once someone makes it big in a specific situation, they are able to do more with less consequences. Lets take actors for example, there have been massive actors doing a lot of hard drugs which was even known to the public, but at best they got send to rehab for a month or 2 before being back in action. Smaller actors that are just known enough to sometimes be featured in large movies, but often play in theatre due to the lack of movie jobs, would pretty much lose their jobs if they get caught doing something similar. Big rappers still get record deals even if they got in a gang, small rappers in gangs dont even get close to that. There have even been people that accidentally killed someone in a carcrash after being intoxicated that still kept their old lives while smaller people with the same accidents had to switch careers or put 500% effort in getting their old career back. If 1% of the channels generates you 99% of the income, you would care more for those channels keeping their income. Since youtube is a different platform and in most cases if you cant watch X, you'll watch Y or even Z so that youtube still has the same amount of views, but the fact is that people come quicker to youtube for bigger channels. THAT is why they are playing favorites. If GameTheory had something similar, they would be more forgiving too. Hell, I have seen some channels being allowed to monetize a video with licensed music since the music sold better because of that channel, where other channels would completely get demonetized for the exact same reason. It's not just KZbin, its advertisers being able to claim too.

I have absolutely no power in youtube other than in the comment section so far, but I believe that if one video creates this much controversy and is featured on pretty much ever single news channel ever (youtube is and international company),the channel that originally posted the video should get suspended for a few months until the buzz dies down about that video. During that suspension the channel can't be used, can't post, and others can't watch the specific video that took the world by storm which would be deleted. This is the consequence I would have enacted if I was the head of youtube. I would terminate the account if the controversy was extreme and the buzz didn't die down eventually. But, then again, I am only a fellow channel that has absolutely no youtube videos yet, and absolutely no power in youtube other than in the comments. Sometimes, words are stronger than actions, well, not in Logan Paul's case though. But hey, that's just a comment, A REALLY LONG COMMENT! AND PEACE OUT!

I hate this system. I hate that things barely change. This makes companies lose trust in online creators and make life so much harder for people who do KZbin full time. Imagine all the struggle they must be going through only to have people like Logan shut it all down. It's sad. And it's disappointing that the system rewards that kind of behavior. To be honest, I feel like a new news system should be in place, where channels that are specific to news networks (like CNN or fox news) get a specific tag (like twitter verified) to make it harder for the Logan loophole. I would add that a channel should also need this tag as well as the normal systems to make sure that a youtuber on the news doesnt necessarily get super recomended, if that makes sense

This is a side of the story that I have not seen someone touch on quite as far as MatPat has. I feel like he is completely right. This will get a new brand for KZbin where teens act like idiots. Doing dumb things that could get themselves or others. Or, if they go to the extreme, take their own life. I am sure KZbin does not want their brand to be “The platform that teens upload videos of them committing suicide”. I hope this video gets to someone at KZbin. I hope they understand. I don’t want all the creators to suffer because these brothers and friends crossed a line multiple times.

He had a genuine sort of speech that you could feel he is truly trying to express how things need to change. Actually I have a story, a more personal one. My dad started a KZbin channel, he worked very hard and was improving rapidly. He bought a bunch of KZbin stuff to edit his videos and to make the room he was working in look better. He even got involved in the KZbin community. Then one day his whole channel got deleted and he was LITERALLY BANNED from making KZbin videos again on that account or any account associated with it. There were no warning prior, nothing, and the only explanation they gave him was that he was practicing exploitation. Which he wasn't even doing, plus literally banned with no warnings for EXPLOITATION. When he never even did it in the first place. Meanwhile people like Logan Paul can post weird, terrible, crap like that and stay. It sickens me.

KZbin is so broken. I've been waiting along with thousands of other new creators for over a month for my channel to get reviewed for monetization. They said usually it gets done within a week. Now they're telling us it's going to be another 2-3 weeks. I love making videos, but right now I'd rather pick up shifts at Starbucks, because financially I'm in a hard spot. They're so distant in their communication, like they're trying to hide what they're doing from us. Just frustrating.

Nighthawk you seem to misunderstand, due to changes from early 2017 your channel cannot be monetized until after you reach 10000 views which flags your channel to be reviewed. Once that review is done you can be monetized, which previously took a week maximum. Now, however, there has been a massive delay on monetization reviews that have left every single one of them in the dark. I’ve been under review for almost 2 months now, and that’s hardly “less than a week. I imagine that since you had monetization in the past you just kept it, unless you’re confusing monetization for something else

Thank you MatPat. I just want to get my frustrations out there, so here we go: I absolutely hate that I, and other art/edit/animation youtubers are barely noticed and barely seen. There’s some really good channels with 200 subs or 400 subs that make amazing, quality videos. But then there are inappropriate channels with minimal effort and skill that get thousands of subscribers. Here’s an example: There’s a Gacha channel where this girl makes beautiful edits, animations, etc. she has 21 videos and 200 subscribers. And then there’s a Gacha channel based on fart fetishes. They have eight videos and 1k subs. Now, I’m not kink shaming people, but it really makes me mad when quality content goes unnoticed and trash content that doesn’t even require skill or drawing/animation talent gets a ton of subscribers. I’m sorry for complaining about this, I’m just really frustrated.

I cannot say how much I deeply appreciate this video. MatPat doesn't often do face-cam videos unless he's trying to get 100% real with whoever he's addressing. Those Undertale videos? He was trying to express to us -- the viewers -- how much it hurt him. He wanted to not only be real with us but real with the people who he wanted to address. And I'm sure it's not just him too, it's the whole team who is behind him and his Game Theory videos, Film Theory, The SCIENCE OF .... etc. They all work hard and you can freaking tell. I hope *this* gets across and people take a step back from all this Logan-Paul stuff to see what it actually has done to online videos as a whole.
