Markiplier plays games and edits a video and that alone garners him millions of subscribers. Marble Hornets is a KZbin horror epic that has lasted years and created a complex and compelling narrative that is not just terrifying but also tragic with a production quality that some major films don't have on a budget of nothing. It has under a half a million subscribers. Worse Markiplier, Pewdiepie and the like have benefited off the mythos that Marble Hornets had a major part in shaping. I love Let's Plays, so I don't really disagree with you, but a lot of us watch sports because we're physically incapable of playing those sports to the level of the professionals and there's a thrill in seeing people perform to a level the vast majority of people never could; whereas most of us have the videogame skills of a Let's Player, we're just not as funny/charming/good at playing and talking at the same time. It can be frustrating sometimes watching a (popular) Let's Play where the player is not making jokes AND playing worse than we would.

If you want to give him a second Chance, You'll need a video where he isn't being annoying, Luckily, as a Kind of, Kind of not PewDiePie fans, I know of plenty. All of his Penumbra: Black Plague let's play is pretty down to earth, and his Facade let's play is pretty funny. His Until Dawn LP is more or less serious, And his Telltale Playthroughs are very good.

I think it's because in today' society people are starting to appreciate and enjoy REAL people being entertaining rather than actors just playing a role, it's why I like watching Mrs. Browns Boys, they don't do any re-recordings, in fact the try their best to memorize lines and go live, I remember one episode mrs. brown fell through a window on set, they kept it on the recording because that's what they did, they stayed in character too and it was sooo foooking hilarious XD. I want to point out something. Sure, this will be an insult, but a point. When people who watch sports call us out for watching the game, instead of playing it... Then why do they watch the game, but not play the sport? So it goes both ways. Or, they could be watching to see how the players will play, just like us, our favorite youtuber's reactions to a game, and how they get through it. Exactly, plus, most of us dont have the money to buy a ps4 or a wii u! But for soccer and other sports, that equipment is about 10 - 20 dollars. That may sound a bit pricey, but a ps4 cost about 300 dollars, and the controller, 50. Sport equipment is cheap compared to games. People just keep forgetting that.

Yeah, absolutely! No shame in needing information to understand something. In February 2017, KZbin and PewDiePie's network cut some ties with PewDiePie because a set of three reporters from the Wall Street Journal published an article claiming that certain recurring jokes on his channel were anti-semetic and racist, and implying that he was knowingly inspiring nazi hate groups. The claims were unsubstantiated, but they had enormous consequences for Felix and his channel because, before anyone could fact-check the claims, KZbin and the network dropped him to avoid being associated with him in a media controversy. A KZbin Red production he worked on was cut and never published, he lost a business he was starting with the network, and took an enormous amount of heat for things he never said or did. The youtube creator community almost universally defended him, but their voice got drowned out by the "traditional media" voices who jumped on the bandwagon for reasons described in MatPat's video.

Personally, I enjoy both let's-plays (and that includes things like TableTop as well) and science, news, and other educational and informative channels as well. Just as television offers a variety of shows from educational and pure entertainment to downfight vacuous (e.g. reality shows), KZbin offers opportunities for both education and rumination, and simple enjoyment (and often a combination thereof). I'm definitely grateful for all the high quality offerings out there, and I certainly wouldn't want them to be overshadowed by the fluff, but as far as I'm concerned, they're both welcome.

Pewdiepie, Markiplier, Lordminion777, Jacksepticeye, and I'm sure many others have earned my respect since last year. Actors do everything for the sake of publicity and they even end up on the news for lets say donating 10,000 dollars to charity one time in they're 10 year career. Ok great, you did something good so you can gain off of it. Most actors have done this except for a couple people that I've heard donated to charity every year. My friend told me that and I don't have reason to doubt him. Back to the point. These KZbinr's donate to charity every 3 months or so and I'm sure there's more then what I know of. Markiplier donates 20,000$-70,000$ every 6 months and Pewdiepie donates even more! Jacksepticeye and Lordminon777 donates a good amount also but I'm not sure of the numbers (I'm sorry). Anyways these amazing people that entertain us daily have done more then most "famous" actors and musicians have ever done in their whole careers! They never sure up on the news and they almost never get rewarded. I'm at the age of 21 and I'm glad I can still find video games entertaining thanks to these amazing people. personally i believe things like youtube can result in less dumb down content then what we get on tv etc. The fact that lower quality doesn't scare viewers of gives way for less famous and fortunate people with great ideas to bring them into the world and they may or may not get picked up that way, but at least they have a chance. While back in the day if you had a creative video idea, sure you can make a video and show it to your friends but that was kind of it. If you wanted to go big, you needed to write a movie and get the concept sold to some studio all the wile hoping they don't just say no and then slightly change is, essentially stealing your idea... It's not like you could just make your own movie and get it on tv. You still can't, but at least there is other options now
