Hi, Jess. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you blessing us at the end of each video. It may just be a split second, but it makes me feel incredibly warm to know someone like you has the love to give to people they don't even know. Also, I am a novice gardener and hope to be as successful as you someday. :)

My mouth is watering for a good old Fried Green Tomato sandwich! Walking thru your garden along with you just now is like a breath of fresh air for me. Due to being an elderly disabled woman I self isolated for 102 days. Then my sweet old dog passed and we made a brief trip to the Vet, then once again to take my younger pup for a shot & pick up my precious Fur Baby’s ashes. I made 2 brief trips after that but back to self isolating again. My Daughter & her Fiancé moved in with me temporarily & we have a nice Summer garden growing. Our Peas and wild Strawberries have been producing very well. Our Red Romaine and some early loose leaf lettuce did well. I live in the city but I live on a corner lot which means I have a huge amount of area in which to plant. This is my 1st time at this house putting in an actual “in ground” garden so I’m looking forward to planning with Daughter & Fiancé what we need to look for in order to start our Fall garden. We all love Brussel Sprout! Here in Ohio I’ve noticed this year seems totally different climate wise! I do have grow lights but thinking I need to purchase a few heat mats. I’ve also given it much thought about buying a Greenhouse but since I get a lot of wind being on the corner lot I’m not sure how well that’ll work for us. Your Zinnias are breathtaking! We were fortunate enough here in Northeast Ohio to have a day & 1/2 of lovely rain. Yesssss! Everything seems to green up beautifully. Sorry my comment has been so long. I’m waiting patiently for our Tomatoes. So far things are flowering; no fruit yet. Our Corn is knee high, green beans are looking pretty good. I think we planted our Watermelon & Pumpkins way too late but perhaps we can shield them from the frost. I’m telling you... Ohio has had the strangest weather I’ve ever seen in my almost 69 years. Our Cucumber plants are trying as are our squash & Zucchini. I may try more container planting next spring (in totes) as I have MS/Multiple Sclerosis and am unable to walk in my yard. I do have a very large wrap around deck and I’m picturing myself able to maintain that if I’m all alone come next year. Once again Jess; thanks so much for the garden walk along and for sharing your knowledge. I see your faithful Fur Baby. I bet he/she keeps you great company while in your amazing gardens. {{{ HUGGZ }}} ~Su. Plz overlook any typos I may have made. Along with MS, I’m totally blind in my left eye with issues beginning in my right eye along with several other diagnosis and typing from my cell phone! 😳

I wish I heard the grow light issue before I started. I started my first garden late in the season and frankly it was a desaster. All plants were leggy and could not save even one. I was HIGHLY discouraged. But, as I continued to watch your videos I regained courage. Several weeks ago I bought a Root Farm Full Spectrum grow light and the difference has been remarkable. I know it's kind of late for summer crops but my squash zucchinis and tomatoes were transplantable within a couple of weeks and are looking great in my outdoors container garden now. I should have some harvest just in time for winter crops to be srarted indoors (with my awesome grow lights). I am now looking forward to my fall crops and most definitely my summer season using my wonderful grow lights to start early. Thank you for all you share and God bless you and the family!

Jess you have helped to inspire me to at least try a fall garden. I’m in Houston so I’m really not sure when to put new plants for the fall out because it is so hot right now. Been 99 degrees. My beans are fried. Fixing to pull out. I took a couple of cutting from the tomatoes but I think my tomato plants are struggling with the heat. My eggplants and peppers are doing great, so that’s something. Love your videos and I love hearing the rain in your garden. You’re an inspiration. Thank you🥰👩🌾🌻

I am glad you posted this video - I am in zone 9a&b. I actually started some of my seeds indoors yesterday - 6 varieties of tomatoes ( didn't have any big slicers for summer so fixing that!) , 2 varieties of cabbage, brussels sprout and some stevia seeds. I put in 2 orders of seeds from Baker Creek this weekend as I am a big planner too (my day job is IT Project Manager..lol). This will be my first fall garden and I am excited. I ran out of space in my regular fenced garden so we are fencing and tilling more of our yard :) Great idea about taking suckers from existing tomatoes and starting those! I really love your videos and look forward to watching them. Sweet Mia did awesome with eating that tomato - give that man some bacon!!! Watching your fall garden videos now! Have a blessed day :)

I got my first okra today. I decided since I only had 1 to try it raw. I love okra normally, but the mucilage got me. It wasn't bad at first, but the more I chewed, the worse it got. Kudos to those of you who like it raw. I think I will stick with roasted, grilled, or fried.

NorCal girl here - my Okra has been pathetic for the last 3 years but I keep on trying. Not sure if it's my clay soil, cool nights, or just zero soil history with okra. I think I found this channel a year ago. My summer had been a bust. Huge bug pressure (Japanese Beetle = no beans and Cucumbers, Squash bugs and vine borers = no summer squash. I think my peppers needed more water). I had 5 producing tomato plants and some huge sunflowers, and lots of okra. I fought for control over weeds in the open areas of my garden left by the failures. I watched a video about "What to plant in August" - or something like that, and tried. I also watched and learned and planned all winter long. I even enlarged my garden over winter - that is how much hope your videos have given me. This year has been a challenge. Obviously. I had successful inside starts - first time ever. We had that late freeze and everything seemed to slow down. I have 40 (three are struggling) tomato plants that are taking forever to turn color. I have cucumbers - I have already pickled a bunch. I have 3 varieties of summer squash. I have pumpkins and butternut and potatoes (first time attempting). I have no vision for my fall garden! I don't know where it will go. I thankfully wrote a very detailed planting plan last year - so I am going to blindly follow that! And I will have a harvest. So thank you. I bless you...

It's amazing to me that even though it's SO MUCH warmer where you are than where I am in Nova Scotia, your estimated first frost is only a week later than ours. We're quite temperate, being on the coast, so we don't get your heat but we don't get quite the same cold as a lot of the rest of Canada. The lesson I'm learning from that is that I need to lean harder into the cool weather crops and accept that until I have space for a greenhouse, I won't be able to have a super successful tomato crop.

I didn't have lot of money for grow lights so started with LED shop lights from Wal-Mart go $21. They worked just fine but I found out later that they only produce white light which is not enough for healthy plants. So, I bought a fluorescent shop light and Wal-Mart had replacement grow light tubes for $8 that said ok to use in a fluorescent shop light. Meanwhile I splurged on a small expensive grow light. Took it back and used fluorescent shop lights with grow light bulbs in them. Grew hundreds of plants.

I don't have an indoor space to start seeds, so I'm attempting to grow under a shade cloth, so far it's working well, I've had radishes, carrots, lettuces, and broccoli all sprout just fine in upper 90's heat, now I just need to keep them from bolting. My thought has been that it is generally 20 degrees cooler in the shade, so a shade cloth should bring the temp down to below 80, making it ideal sprouting temps. Lots of prayers that it'll work!

Jess, you can also ratoon ( cut back a little) your peppers and even eggplant to encourage another rush of veggies in the fall. I'm trying this for fall as well as leaving my peppers to over winter. I'll cover some and leave others out to the elements and see what happens. I'm in zone 9b and still trying to figure out what to grow when and what works best. Also, getting some shop lights for seed starting. They're bigger, cheaper, and some videos show they're just as good, if not better than some grow lights.
