The end of the pilot screw is steel. Steel has half the coefficient of expansion of aluminum. Put the body on a cookie sheet in your barbecue at 150-200° with the screwhole facing down. It might drop out on it's own or you might have to tap the body with something to get it to fall out. I've done this several times to get steel bearings out of aluminum parts that are stuck in place. I hope the trick works for this instance Ryan.

Thank you, I'll try something like that. I did try to heat the body with a blow torch without success, but I've not given up yet.

Warm up the carb body in boiling water and when hot, try and press the broken tips downwards using a curved back of a spoon handle. 105 and 72 are the correct size jets but get them in the correct locations

Thank you. I was trying to heat the body off camera with a blow torch, but nothing so far, but I've not given up yet.

Mate, that result is so much better I get with a dimestic setup. I would keep using them rather than buy a set myself. Less clutter too!

I think I agree with you, especially as they only charged me £12 inc vat.

It's well worth buying an ultrasonic cleaner as I use mine to clean all sorts of parts not just carbs.

Great vid, you can use a curved item (I usually bend a washer) and push down on the remains of the mixture screw from the butterfly side (pointy bit) and usually they come out, loads of carb spares here and you are welcome to raid them,

Hi 😊 , l have been having problems with bike running smoothly, now l haven't tried it yet but someone on the 250 400 fb group... said the large jet shouldn't be in the emulsion tube but the smaller 72 jet should be in there as the needle jet controls the petrol flow the larger 105 jet should be next to it in the primary, well l think that's what its called 😊 l haven't tried it yet as having other issues with petrol tank leaking 😢 and ordered some new rubbers and jets for carb ... but well maybe worth a try 😊 regards mike.

Hi Mike, That's interesting whilst that doesn't "feel" right to me, maybe that's what I'm missing. I'll try to dig around and ask a few people myself, but swapping them over wouldn't be hard, so may be worth me just trying it. Ryan

Hi, I have just searched through my archive of emails and help I received when I was starting, and I have a copy of an excellent step by step guide to these carbs (which I'm happy to share if you email me on the address listed in the About this channel). It clearly shows that I did not have the jets in the wrong locations. So I don't think that is my issue and I'll keep looking.

You really should change the name of your channel to Ryan's carburettor 😂 ❤ Just a quick question as you seem to spend a lot of time on carburettor! Is the air / fuel mix in for lean or out? All the best David.
@mikefennelly3310
@mikefennelly3310 Жыл бұрын
Apologies for butting in , but apparently it depends where the mixture screw is, if on engine side of the car it's adjusting fuel so in would make it leaner if on air intake side the opposite 🤔😊🤞

@mikefennelly3310 Thanks for your reply... Think you need to be in the Superdream gang to get any help. It's on the engine side, so I assume in is weaker 👍🏻

Hi, im so sorry i didnt see your original question. Although im not sure i know the answer. Nothing ive read make it clear and just says i should try adjusting it both in and out until its idiling at its best. Thanks to Mike for answering you.
