Thanks for posting this hauntingly beautiful love song! I liked it in the 60s, but have grown to absolutely love it.

What memories! First heard this at te Lake City Community Club Friday night dances 1959. Wailers got booted out because they played too loud. Best thing that could have happened to them at that time.

I've had a poster from one of their 1965 concerts for 38 years, nice to finally hear their music. Thought it was Bob Marley's wailers. A friend of John Cipollina set me straight.

I still remember listening to that song on the radio or on my 45rpm record, when it came out in 1966. I was 17. I think of my late husband when I hear it, and smile...or weep. Miss you so much, Dave. I will always love you. 💞

I've never met anyone who didn't think this is a great song. Years ago when I used to play in bars w would always play a lot of N.W. music and this was always included in the third or fourth set as a slow dance number, always filled the dance floor.

This truly classic Wailers song was written by an equally classic Pacific Northwest singer songwriter (from Port Orchard, WA) ... the amazing Ron Davies ... the brother of another Kitsap County talented singer songwriter & County Music star Gail Davies (whatta voice!!). Ron went on to record a number of albums of his own (for A&M Records and other labels) and have his songs recorded by the likes of David Bowie, Helen Reddy, Three Dog Night, Jerry Jeff Walker, Anne Murray and dozens more. Ron and Gail sang wonderful "live" version of "It's You Alone" for County Music icon Bobby Bare ... if you'd care to hear it...: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3jUZXmCe5iMpcU&feature= shared

Well, I don't know the word that you might like to hear Or the poetic whispers into your ear I'm not sure of just what you might want me to do Or how you would like me to say I love you But I do love you so And I want you And I want you to know That it's you alone I'm no greater than any man you might meet Anyplace, anytime down on your street But you never again anyplace, anytime Find a love that compares or is greater than mine And I do love you so And I want you Well, I want you to know That it's you alone And I do love you so And I want you Well, I want you to know That it's you alone

Ron Davies, who wrote this once got a check for 10 G from 3 dog night for a song. His mother was very impressed when he showed her that he had a "whole book full of songs". He did too. Love the Wailers and northwest rock forever....check out Ron's other songs and he and his sister Gail singing it's you alone on youtube
