He brings up a good point that I often find myself explaining with some of my ink. In that some of my biggest and best pieces don't particularly have meaning in themselves, but the experience and aesthetic is what's meaningful to me. I found my favorite artist, we bonded over a full day session and I'm left with some amazing ink, a cathartic, important memory and a good friend, who will be doing many more sessions on me. Even in the tattoo community there can be judgement and I understand to an extent, but there is a line that sometimes gets crossed into just hatred and being spiteful.

Such parents are merely insecure snowflakes with limiting beliefs. Don’t listen to them or let their words belittle you. They aren’t you and do not see the world as you do. They are worried about your ink attracting judgment from society. Something THEY wouldn’t be able to handle because they are weak people, and not something YOU cannot. These people who scrutinize ink are perpetually scared risk averse small personality small minded folk. You are not them. You are you. Wearing your story and armour on your skin and attacking the world as such. You can achieve anything you want in this life, and the ink you wear will only make you more confident in doing so.

They’re cultural symbols, they’re artistic expressions, they’re body decorations, they’re memoirs, they really can be anything.

They never questioned who did it but they could definitely tell it was done by a professional and not in my buddy’s garage but I got it done by a artist in Manhattan when I went there with my aunt and grandparents for a few days and he definitely overcharged me but I didn’t care. I love his pieces, beautiful!! I really like blackout tattoos but my husband has asked that I not get one since he thinks I will regret it. I'm listening to him instead of taking the jump, he knows me better than anyone else.

You've got SICK tats, respect on the artistry no matter what. The whole picture looks amazing to me and if you love them yourself too that's double awesome.
