For non tour players the pumpkins on the track in tour were only there as a special event. They only appear in the Halloween tour

The 8 Deluxe version is perfect, some people call it too small, but that's a thing I like about it. If this track was bigger it would get old I think, plus the wierd turns would be a lot less challenging, how small it is gives it it's charm in my opinion.

That is probably why they chose Boo Lake over Broken Pier.

Credit where credit's due, this guy is a much better music analyst than most game content YT analysts, including otherwise excellent analysts such as the Digital Foundry team. I'm assuming he actually studied music and music production to a decent level.

I'm very flattered by your words. Thank you. While I have experience in the video game music field, I don't have formal education in it (rather, my degrees relate to game development). I compose music, and the jingle in this video is just one of many examples. If you enjoyed the short musical analyses here, I recommend checking out Melodies of Gaming on GameXplain. We recently had Grant Kirkhope as a special guest narrator!

Something you didn't mention is that the lake in the 8 Deluxe version is more clear and very blue as well as any of the lights seen above the lake becoming green while underwater, as in tour it's a bit green. And the skybox in the 8 Deluxe version is also more realistic than Tour's Cartoony-like Design. All the ramps were also recoloured to match the bridge.
@BK24102 жыл бұрын
The lake is not green in Tour it's dirty which is much better.

Maybe so it’s not too much like Twisted Mansion’s underwater section, the water’s green there

I love the music. Seems like the drums on MK8 version were played by a real drummer, or maybe programmed so the drumkit sounds more natural. The version of MK Tour sounds more like programmed MIDI. Loved the video, nice details!!
@PeachToadstool2 жыл бұрын
I totally love the drum presence in the update. I think it may be the official drummer of the Mario Kart Band, Hiroyuki Noritake, but the performance was run through plate reverb (as mentioned in the video), giving this sort of surreal sound. The Tour version is MIDI (and I come from a heavy MIDI background, particularly VGMusic!)

This was a fantastic update to the original, sans them (predictably, and unnecessarily) simplifying a few bends. However, I do not like the fact that the skybox doesn’t change colors with each lap, similar to Sunset Wilds, like in the original throughout. They had the opportunity to do so in this remake, and they blew it. The twilight skybox here looks great, though.

As someone who used to play the original Super Circuit on the GBA, the narrow bridge that Tour and 8 Deluxe had never glowed. It was a normal wooden bridge as far as the game could make it
@PeachToadstool Жыл бұрын
After reading this, I booted up my original release cartridge to see how the first bridge was, and yep, it glowed! The second little bridge, however, never did.

They have a guy, whose last name literally means graveyard cover this? Can't be a coincidence.
@PeachToadstool2 жыл бұрын
Ah, a fellow Dane? Nice to meet you! I've always seen it as churchyard, but many times churches did have graveyards like in Mad Monster Mansion from Banjo-Kazooie, so it was pretty much synonymous, so that became rather interesting etymology. It's a pure coincidence either way, since I've been covering the DLC for a while now as the music composer of the team.
@jakobchristensen45112 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Dane indeed and I guess you're right in saying that Kirkegaard means churchyard but that would be transliteration rather than translation, wouldn't it?
@PeachToadstool2 жыл бұрын
@@jakobchristensen4511 When taking the sum of parts, yeah, I guess it would be, but I also recall that family always focused on churchyard, I guess maybe to avoid any morbid meanings, even my late grandfather who came to America from Danmark. Regardless, it's all pretty cool. Thanks for the chat!

The Ghost Valley-style courses are usually short, and this was the Ghost Valley 1 of Super Circuits, so makes sense to be short
